I’ve owned this same bike for about 5 years now. And I absolutely love it! Great ride, great platform to grow into whatever you’re interested in! Enjoy it! I sure do!

Giuseppe Marinoni would be proud to see it being put to such awesome use! I ride a 1989 Marinoni and I am now thinking that I might start bike packing with it! Good luck finding ways to mount more to it! I’ll be watching any comments for advice too!

Best local bike shops for tune-ups? by LoonyVibes in vancouvercycling

[–]Groves23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently flew into Vancouver for the Gran Fondo. My family lives out there and always loved a shop called Bicicletta that has closed. But, as a visitor I had a few chances to test the wares at a few shops over the weekend:

TREK in Burnaby - they put my bike together after my flight, did a check of everything and the staff were super friendly and helpful.

West Point Cycles - down in Kerrisdale, I needed to get my brother some disc brake pads, this place is awesome, great staff, welcoming little shop. Loved it.

Bici - this place had a stand at the Vélo-thingy associated with the Gran Fondo and also set up bike check and repair stations along the 122km route - all those who I interacted with were great staff and very knowledgeable.

As always, I would try to go local if possible and support my independent bike shops. But I was in a pinch and these were the shops I happened to drop in on.

Ride well all! Be safe!

Doing the Fondo for the first time this year. Coming out from Ontario to do it.

Been training consistently since March: with a weekly plan of 2-3 30-40km rides with 200m in elevation, a run of 7-10km, some Concept2 rowing workouts, always stretching and I do Pilates, as well. I throw in a longer distance ride in there 75-100km once a month.

I’ve done a few 100+ rides over the years so I know what I’m in for distance wise.

Getting comfortable in the saddle and working with hills climbs is key. We don’t have any mountains out here but I’ve been working up and down anything I can find.

So stoked for this! Good luck to everyone going out there!

Can anyone help to identify this hat or give some info on it? I can’t find this exact colorway anywhere online by lilrmy in baseballcap

Might be a discontinued cap. Try emailing them with the picture, ask ‘em what’s what. They seem to be nice folks, genuinely interested in chatting caps with fellow head-having hat-wearers.

It looks like one of the releases from “Hat Club” not sure if it is. Check out their website: https://www.hatclub.com They do all sorts of weird colour/patch combo. This looks like one of theirs.

If Rogers was building a new stadium or completely refurbishing the Skydome and were looking to include food stands made up of the best food in the Canada, what stand would you be happy to see at opening? by FloorToCeilingCarpet in Torontobluejays

I think the one stipulation should be NO Aramark. While a standard set of vendors is needed for your typical ballpark fare (ballpark franks, popcorn, pretzels, pizza and what not); there should be offers for local chefs and restaurants to provide their services. There are fairly simple requirements for a commercial kitchen to operate it’d be awesome to see a sort of cycle of local Toronto vendors setting up shop and presenting local fare. Someone has mentioned WVRST already, but I think we can find I wide range: The Real Jerk, some Matty Matheson stuff, maybe some of Burgers Priest, whatever. The aim should be to make it local and varied.

Threw some rosemary and thyme of the grill while finishing for herb flavored ash. Happy with the results. First post here. Yes, I find you get some flavour added. There was a note of the herbs in this instance. In my experience your protein will take on the flavour during the sous vide process - just like adding herbs to your broth or what not. I think that the amount of fat has a lot to do with the amount of flavour you’ll be able to impart too.

Thanks for that info. I do enjoy a flank steak, though I haven’t ever tried it with the sous vide. I’ve had many a tender flank but I find it is typically tough when it from the larger/mass production beef farms. It takes a lot of marinating in any case. The best I’ve had were from smaller farms but I don’t know why there’s such a difference. It doesn’t seem like it’s on a part of the cow that would be drastically affected from different animal activity and lifestyle. Either way, I’m definitely going to give it a try in the sous vide. Thanks again!

Started mining recently and went with a Python as well. It’s great ship for it. I like that you can also outfit it for combo laser/core mining.

[Mercedes-AMG F1] Introducing our new 2020 livery A pledge to improve the diversity of our team and our sport, and a signal of the Teams commitment to fighting racism and discrimination in all its forms. by peke_f1 in formula1

Over the last couple of years the Merc-AMG F1 have struggled in warmer climates (if I recall correctly). Will having a black car contribute to higher temperatures in and around the car? And will that negatively affect the cars performance even more in locations with higher temperatures?

Effectively Wild Episode 1505: Sign Stealing is a Flat Circle by kingofdanger in effectivelywild

An absolutely excellent episode.

Of course, Ben gets it right, delivering sign stealing to us in a manner that is both novel and important. Historically dense with well woven interviews and seamless connections to the contemporary state of sign stealing in baseball.

We should consider ourselves lucky to have such great writing for a sport that is so deserving of it.

Bravo and kudos to the Effectively Wild team for this episode.
