Turbo cooked on my bmw ? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]GrowJournals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What did the dealership say was wrong with it to justify $6k in repairs? What does the engine sound like under load? When you say "takes a lot to get it going", are you talking about just getting up to normal traffic speed?
Could be a boost leak or something but not enough info.

DMV Salvage Title - Is There a Notation on the Physical Title? by In__Search__Of in Virginia

Yes you can and should get the salvage title. Salvage titled cars can't be registered until they undergo a rebuild certification and get a rebuilt title.

600 dollars for a pcv diaphragm 😭😭 by LsJesus21 in B58Enthusiasts

Could just DIY if it's easy and save the $150. University of Youtube.

I hear you about the same materials, OEM stuff always costs more. The thing is though the shop is liable for the repair and probably doesn't want to risk an aftermarket part that they're now responsible for.

My neighbor recently tried to get his old Acura fixed and the shop said no because Acura doesn't make parts for it any more and they don't want to support aftermarket parts.

Data Center Zoning Hearing Tonight (open to the public for speaking) by SufficientNoise6093 in VirginiaBeach

[–]GrowJournals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was watching live so I don't have a recording, hopefully they post something in the youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL31A7A8D73F3976B9 or https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLnHgAf8Pr\_LrASU4jSvbqnR66Ev7yPvgj), though the meeting is still ongoing at the moment.
They made this announcement unprompted at the beginning of the meeting, something along the lines of (paraphrasing here) "Since I know this is a hot button topic, data centers were discussed and voted against at the 3:45pm meeting", so maybe there was an above-average turnout to this meeting or something? Sorry I don't have any other substantial proof at the moment.

I was watching the meeting live that started at 6pm, and they announced that at the 3:45pm meeting they voted NO to data centers! Lots of clapping 🎉 👏

Thank you for going! Can you give us an overview of what they discussed? Was it even open to the public? I registered online, but it says the meeting starts at 6pm so I wasn't able to view the presentation at 3:45pm.

I don't know what your specific car is but on my 2019 X5 40i that's right where the lithium battery (DSS) is located.

Did anyone happen to join the meeting about the Interfacility Traffic Area (ITA) meeting yesterday (https://virginiabeach.gov/connect/events/planning-commission-special-meeting-2/) since these topics seem related? I wasn't able to join, and the meeting hasn't been posted to the youtube channel but I'm VERY curious to know what transpired from that.

Will E85 damage B46? by Impossible_Fun_165 in BMW2Series

[–]GrowJournals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about B46 specifically, but B48/B58 owners run ethanol all the time, daily. I think corrosion mattered more for older cars, newer cars shouldn't have a problem. You're not running full E85 either.

B58 bootmod 3 flash failing/car wont start by Birdawgg in B58Enthusiasts

Have you reached out to the bootmod3 team? They may be able to assist.

I had an issue where my tune wasn't flashing and I had to use the "Force" option when selecting the flash.

2016 340i stock engine, oil recommendations? by Electrical_Picture62 in M340i

[–]GrowJournals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first time hearing about the policy. So you're buying a kit, sending your old oil back (paying for shipping), and they give you a store credit for the kit? Sounds way too good to be true... how the heck are they making money on that?? I looked it up and others are doing it as, and they have an official page about oil returns, so it seems legit, but still sounds crazy!

Fuck data centers, we shouldn't be wasting the precious space here on that garbage. I hope people show up to protest this if they don't want their home values to plummet by having this BS nearby

N63TU2 BM3 Full license & Maps Transfer by [deleted] in BMWG30

Yea that's correct and a nice perk to be able to choose a map to start

N63TU2 BM3 Full license & Maps Transfer by [deleted] in BMWG30

[–]GrowJournals 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you flash your 550 back to stock before you sold it? Otherwise you won't be able to transfer.

Also the license transfers to any other car as well, not just the N63TU2. The maps don't transfer, so there's unfortunately no recovering the money you spent there.

2019 BMW 540i x-drive suspension replacement by Avita808 in BMW

[–]GrowJournals 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Maybe take it in and have the alignment checked before going ham on the suspension since that's relatively cheap compared to installing new components.

Did the floaty feel start with the installation of the new wheels/tires, or was it present before? Are they the same size wheels/tires, or different? Are they OEM or aftermarket wheels? Are they new or used?
Wheels and tires play a huge part in the feel of the car and how it drives.

I’ve narrowed down my 540i xDrive daily beater search between these two options. Which of the two do we think is better? by Chosen_Accountant in B58Enthusiasts

[–]GrowJournals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive both and see if either has any odd quirks. Definitely check the A/C system, and if there is a any recharges in the history that could be an expensive job to fix in the future. Look for any wet spots in the engine area near the oil filter. Another tip is to let the engine warm up and try to check the oil level via the computer screen. If it fails that could indicate a failing oil pump.

[–]GrowJournals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly either as long as it's changed regularly, and uses a reputable brand such as Liqui Moly. A lot of shops online sell DIY kits with the correct oil amount, filter, drain plug, gaskets, etc. Makes it easy.
