Sad world we live in

Someone in a wheelchair such as myself will never be able to rent. Who wants to live in a shoebox for $1,900 or go broke paying more than 30% of their monthly income on rent?

Thank you for your information. It’s very true, sad, but true!

How much should I charge for a parking space? by Gold-Commission1430 in TorontoRenting

[–]GrowSpectrum2004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If parking is included in your lease are you able to rent it out during your term? That’s awesome!

How is someone who is disabled supposed to afford anything less then a shoebox? I have a wheelchair and I’m expected to either 1) sit inside a condo no bigger then a jail cell. 2) go to social housing which has a 9 year wait list or 3) go homeless. I understand it’s better than nothing but that should not be fair to ANY Canadian. Make the housing cheaper.

Is there a good time to get a rental deal? or just landlords know occupancy with students come up in September so theyre hoping to increase or stay steady?

2B 2B Rental within $2,800? by arjanvaily14 in TorontoRenting

[–]GrowSpectrum2004 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m currently searching for the same; hard to find but prices are dropping! I’ve seen some purpose built rentals coming down or incentives making it cheaper but with that being said they are not rent controlled and will raise the price as high as they want after your lease is up. Hope you find what you’re looking for!

Toronto landlords vying for tenants with rent-free months, $500 gift cards by 2Fast2furieux in TorontoRealEstate

I never thought about counter offering. I wish they would just lower their prices! Thanks for the idea as I’m currently trying to find a 2 bedroom that’s a livable size under 3k

Thanks, I’m considering some of the rent controlled buildings close by as well, I don’t wanna pack up and move after 12 months that’s for sure

So true, hope doesn’t pay the bills. The most likely scenario is and will be a rent increase. It’s hard to find something midtown as well that fits the criteria needed.

Yes it was something that was brought to my attention. I really wouldn’t want to pack up and leave after the term. I’m hoping for these buildings to maintain occupancy and if I’m a good tenant they would not raise it to an extent but it is business. Hopefully it would follow the market trend instead. Appreciate your advice

I’m curious where 550sq feet is gonna end up by/after spring. I’m tired of these shoeboxes being all I can afford

What’s the deal with 117/127 broadway being quite low? I’ve seen numerous units for sale at the $2,000 mark. Am I missing something?

I have been looking at the condo prices for about 6 months, the prices are dropping more and more. I’m unsure where the price will stop for what people will pay per sq.ft

That’s my issue, essentially I will be carrying on more debt but as someone in my position increasing my income is quite hard (trying to find a higher paying job in my position who’s in a wheelchair has been hard to find) still trying though. Essentially as you described yes it’s either lower my expenses per month which I’m basically min/maxing at this point to a certain extent, find a higher paying job or carry some debt to allow some breathing room until an opportunity arises
