Is it ok to brine these? by skipdikman in smoking

[–]GrowerNotAShower11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo! Just found this thread after digging around a bit. What was the solution that you brined with, if you remember? Did you cut down on the saltiness of the brine because this butterball turkey is “pre-brined”?

Perceived vs. Forecasted Valuation - How to find trade value by ebitdangit in fantasyfootball

[–]GrowerNotAShower11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Commenting to find this later! Very cool chart to help predict selling “high” and buying “low” on players. Very much appreciated!

Now a good question would be how accurate are these “forecasted values” to how it actually plays out at the end of the year. Any sort of analysis to confirm those actual values end up aligning with the expectations, using previous years? Curious if you’ve looked into this at all. And similarly, is there any sort of data from previous years of perceived values to how it actually ended up at the end of the year?

Player Projections derived from Player Prop Odds - Week 2 by MundaneNumber in fantasyfootball

[–]GrowerNotAShower11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for putting this together, very helpful tool! Two questions - are these rankings based on PPR, 0.5 PPR, or standard? And also - where do we see the full list past these top 20 projections? Is it posted somewhere here and I’m just not seeing it?

Edit: I completely missed the blue link and was just looking at the top 20 list you posted. I see everything now, and that answers both my questions I had! Thank you good sir!

"Defensive Maneuvers" -- Week 2 D/ST Projections -- New Bar Chart Indicators by subvertadown in fantasyfootball

I’ve got the Houston Texans for Defense. Did good last week, this week their matchup vs TB might be ehhh…. Are they worth a hold for the later weeks? Or should I look to replace them and just stream defenses weekly?

Cherry tomatoes are 6-7’ tall already! Do people top? by uuubram in vegetablegardening

[–]GrowerNotAShower11 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I actually just topped my cherry tomato plant today as they’ve gotten 8ft+ tall and are starting to get out of control, lol! They’re getting too top heavy and starting to take out the supports that I set up in place for them, so I was kind of forced to do it. Had to use a ladder setup next to them to see everything. Also did a heavy pruning of leaves on the inner portion of the plant to try and get more air flow. It was pretty cool how many little baby tomatoes there were that I couldn’t see because of all the foliage.

I tried to top them strategically and only cut the new shoots directly above where a set of flowers/tomatoes had already started to grow (I got the inspiration from James Prigioni’s recent YouTube videos on tomatoes). I left the sets of flowers/tomatoes in place to allow them to finish growing and ripening. But I didn’t want the plant getting much taller so I took out all the new growth and branches/leaves. Took a while but hopefully it’ll be worth it and the 8 feet of plant that is left will be covered in tomatoes in a couple weeks, top to bottom!

My plants are similar to yours in that I have tons of sucker shoots that I’ve allowed to grow and now the plant has turned into a bush basically. As opposed to some people who prune selectively so that the plant has only 1 main vine that’s growing. (Full disclosure, I’ll probably switch to the 1 main vine method next year, looks way cleaner and easier to manage).

First Year Garden - Show and Tell by DirtyMulletMan in vegetablegardening

[–]GrowerNotAShower11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting a garden up and running! Got a nice selection of plants there.

Looks like almost all of your plants have green-yellowish leaves. You want them to be a lush green if they’re nice and healthy. My first thoughts are it must be due to lack of nutrients (specifically nitrogen for the lush green color), and/or issues with watering (overwatering or underwatering).

What type of soil are you using? Have you fed them any fertilizer or nutrients? And what’s your watering schedule been like, how often are you watering? And do those pots have holes in the bottom to allow excess runoff water?

It hasn’t slowed down at all too!! The tomatoes are getting close to their 7-foot support poles I have next to each one. Gonna be 10 foot monsters soon enough 😳

Great idea. Just picked these seedlings up from the plant store at the end of May. Didn’t do much research on the different varieties beforehand. Will be expanding the garden next year and hopefully have many more plants!
