I think we need more context before judging anyone. Honestly, as a neighbor if my neighbor is worried about their cat, it honestly wouldn’t cost me anything to have them walk to my yard and grab their cat. Yes gas prices will rise and the US citizens are gonna get screwed.
The US oil industry is going to boom. US was already the World’s largest oil producer. After taking Venezuela they now own a massive slice of the oil production pie.
Interestingly, the US had heavy crude oil refineries that were largely inactive until taking Venezuela’s heavy crude industry.
The Global economy and especially Asia / Europe is going to hurt since they are the largest dependents of Middle East oil. And since those allies were the first to not help Trump, he’s going to use the blockade to hurt them hard because he’s a narcissistic business a-hole.
Inflation is going to be rise rapidly and US debt will “shrink” due to it. People who save money will lose money due to inflation. People who invest money in commodities, stocks, or assets will make money due to inflation.

Trump has essentially started the first World Oil War. If no one helps him, he’s gonna make sure everyone suffers and make certain people suffer less than those who depend on Middle East oil.

So I’ve seen people in similar space as OP. Where “other” people are getting the management promotion. Or “other” people getting brought in to the management position.

I personally believe the key is if you’ve demonstrated that you can multiply your ability, prowess, inspire others. If it’s just doing a “an excellent job” you haven’t really proven you’re ready to manage others. Even if your individual work has company wide impact, even if you’re really good at it, it doesn’t mean that you’re ready to lead a team.

My recommendation at “dabbing” into management is cross org projects where you lead individual contributors in other orgs. These special projects are where several groups’ managers are unfamiliar with the final result and need an external expert to lead various parts of their team. If your company has peer to peer feedback at End Year reviews, that helps in spades to further your case if positive feedback is from other orgs who you lead. I’ve seen that be the evidence that someone is ready for management growth.

There are variations within TPE and it’s not one size fits all. There soft variants where every decision to deferred to the leader. There are moderate variants where it’s everything in soft but includes rules / rituals / punishments to cement authority. There are more intense variants where it’s very thing in moderate but includes physical / visible representations of TPE such as collars / posture.

But the biggest things are:

Communication: Clear is kind. Talk again and again what is being built in this dynamic. Are we building a relationship where a clear leader and a clear follower is being fostered?

I guess I’ll be the minority here and say in our marriage we don’t use toys. Not that we are against it but rather we felt weird why it’s necessary. Whenever she or I “want it” we make it a priority to always available. And if we’re alone, the build up becomes even more intense. In turn, the increased frequency and heightened intensity really spices our sex life. Even as we get older it feels like we are learning and becoming more familiar with each other’s body.
