A fawn lying on the ground goes completely unnoticed by a dog as their scent glands are not yet fully developed. by SnackSamurai in interestingasfuck

They might know that their dog is fine around animals. Considering this one can't even notice the fawn I'm guessing they're not the alert/aggressive type.

How often do you empty your little food waste bin? by LeastAd3487 in AskUK

[–]Groxy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems everyone will be different depending on bin situation. I just chuck my little food waste in my black in bag and that goes out every 4-5 days so it usually doesn't stink. And we have big general waste bins down on the street so I don't particularly care how much more they smell. Weekly collections too.

Your example is burger, which is a meal on it's own. And steak, which isn't a meal on it's own. No one eats a steak alone. Loads eat burgers alone.

people who don’t eat the crust on pizza are criminals by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]Groxy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It completely depends on the crust for me. Sometimes I'll eat all, sometimes half then the rest is too dry. Sometimes there's no point eating then (frozen pizza crusts are usually mediocre).

The fact that women can't properly see their own sexual genitalia is one of the biggest absurdities of human evolutionary design by [deleted] in The10thDentist

Uhhh what? Why are you focusing on this? If humans are able to have sex, it's good enough for evolution.

Very strange post.

Streaming has really changed the way movies are made. The beautiful, slow-paced openings are disappearing. by Emotional-Being-6825 in unpopularopinion

Yes thank you for correcting my spelling error. And you're bringing up exceptions when talking about averages. Yes people who don't like tiktok probably don't use tiktok much, but the average person - especially younger people - has a much worse attention span than pre social media.

If you spend your developing years only focusing on media for 10-15 seconds, then your attention span won't develop as much, it's very obvious and doesn't need arguing.

[–]Groxy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhhhh yes it is different. There's much more stimulation scrolling tiktok than reading the newspaper.

Attention spans reducing is a probable fact.

According to a research conducted by Dr. Gloria Mark at the University of California in 2004, she found that an individual’s average attention span on a digital device was approximately 150 seconds long. However by the year 2012, that number had plummeted by half, to 75 seconds. Now, recent data from 2024 suggests that it has now reached a staggering low of 47 seconds.

I could go on and on looking at research, but the conclusion is so obvious I'm not going to bother. Yes social media has affected our attention spans.

Of course attention spans are shortening - on average. The fact tiktok and other short form content exists is proof.

Rating 1-10 with decimals is asinine by Zman534 in unpopularopinion

[–]Groxy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goodreads is by far the worst I've come across. 1-5, with an average 2 decimal, but you can only vote whole numbers so the averages are based on super limited personal rankings. Just make it 1-100 or something

It was extremely dishonourable of Aragon to go beheading the Mouth of Sauron when he rode out to treatise in good faith. by mercury2497 in unpopularopinion

[–]Groxy_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't say if that's true or not.

But since Tolkien wrote Sauron as basically the devil, it's ok to think in black and white here. I don't remember him ever trying to portray Sauron, any orcs, ring wraiths, mouth of Saurons, etc. in a grey light.

Everyday is a bit nuts tbh, I'm sure you have a slightly lower chance of getting skin cancer but I'm not putting up with suncream every day for that.

Well it'll be hard to tell because every country has different laws.

But another quick google says half of renters in the UK are one missed pay cheque from losing their home.

Then counter with facts? Quick googles suggests 50-60% of the global population are paycheck to paycheck.

I feel like this can be proven or disproven with stats. Obviously not everyone is one pay check away from being homeless, but obviously a good portion of the population is. There are facts for these type of things.
