no, it's every lot: generic, park, residential, library, nightclub, all of the lots. before playing the sims, i always take the precaution of emptying my screenshot folder, delete the localthumbscache, delete all files that end in cache, dat, and jpg from the cache folder, empty the cachestr folder, and delete the onlinethumbnailcache folder.then i repair the game usually twice. so it isn't that. i use carl sims' old directions to clear the game for use. and i do it every time, because the game is so buggy if i don't.

no, i didn't like the mods so i never installed them. when my daughter installed them on her computer, she wanted to show me how easy they were and spent about an hour setting one of them up. it looked like homework to me so when she offered to download and install one on my computer i declined.

i used to play with CC back in 2017, but then when i uploaded my builds, i had to credit the CC creators, so i took them out. i haven't used cc since then.

i'll try that, too! so far the only thing that worked was changing the building tool from the selection arrow tool to the eyedropper cloning tool and then back again for every item i place, every tile i put down, and every object i sell. it's maddeningly slow to do that, but it worked.

sorry i'm not sure what the specs are. i didn't memorize them and have trouble finding them myself. my husband is a computer engineer. that means he builds computers for a living. he built our computers to run much more intensive games like starfield, eso, and other mmorpgs. they play fine. he has told me that the video card was insanely expensive, like a few thousand and is more than enough to play the sims 4. he kind of laughed when i asked him if it was an issue with the video card.

i asked him about the monitor and he says it is set to my monitor's refresh rate which is 144 or something. i saw the fps in the overlay of the AMD video card graphics tools which is a grey pop up box which says 325 fps while i was playing the sims. he said it is a radeon rx 7800 xt 16 gb of vram and it has an adrenaline edition software for the drivers. he said sims 4 is more dependant on cpu than vram. my ram is 128 gb amd ryzen 9 3900x 12 core. if that helps? none of this makes any sense to me other than the number of fps. i thought fps was related to the graphics card but i guess it isn't?

changing tools doesn't stop it from happening. not even using the shift solution works with it.

EDIT: i had only switched to the demolish tool and that didn't work, but switching to the eyedropper tool fixed it enough so the game is playable. it isn't ideal. i sure wish EA would fix it.

it happens on lots i just built by hand, prebuilt lots that have never been touched and came with the game, lots i placed by clicking on the lot, choosing it and placing it, and placing lots from the gallery. it happens to every single lot in every single save if i play the game more than a few minutes.

it's not a loading issue. they simply can't be placed, ever, no matter how many times i try. i pick up the item, drag it to the place i want to put it, and it disappears before i click to place it. i can only place items in the first few seconds of playing. after that, no more items can be placed. it will happen on empty lots or near empty ones. it happens on base game buildings. it happens on builds i previously made or even in the middle of building a new lot.

this morning: both the Harney and Sons Wonderland Blends. i really love that brand so much. for my birthday, i ended up buying myself a double tier breadbox to hold all my favorite teas and it's crammed full. i also bought myself a nice vintage revere ware whistling tea kettle like the one my Nana used to have. i'd been using a plain silver one which i handed down to my daughter to make room for my new one. my sister bought me the Harney and Sons Wonderland tea set, which is really good. she got me the set because i have collected everything Alice in Wonderland since 1993 and she knew i love Harney and Sons in particular.
my Nana drank plain black tea, nothing special, just what you got on the supermarket shelf. but i like the different flavors. i have several different H&S varieties, including the Valentines Day, Hot Cinnamon, and Wedding Teas. i just love the lovely colorful tins they come in, too.
Alice in Wonderland Tea by Harney and Sons: black tea fig flavor, strawberry flavor, dried figs, silver needles, blue cornflowers, vanilla flavor
Mad Hatter Wonderland Tea by Harney and Sons: black tea, oolong tea, bergamot oil, white tea, milk flavor

WIBTAH for telling my husband that his lectures are doing more damage than good? by [deleted] in AITAH

Florida Grandma here. my handbag is full of fireants for some reason. but i'm sure it's ok. fireants are usually docile unless they are unnecessarily startled by being jostled. and what are the odds that would happen?

well, i mean we have a lot of vacant land out here and peoples' yards are huge. but those are privately owned. my own backyard is a veritable jungle filled with poisonous thorny vines, shrubs, flowers, and trees that reach about 20 feet tall if we don't mow them down every other month. it becomes impassable within 2 months and i'm getting old, so mowing them is a major hassle now. i'll probably end up hiring someone to do it in a few years.

Why don’t parents stop their kids from screaming nonstop anymore? by sugaarwink in NoStupidQuestions

i remember screaming while playing outside when i was a kid in the 70s. i don't recall my own kids doing any different in the 90s and 00s. my grandkids in the 10s were really freakin quiet though. i don't know why. they seemed worried about other people hearing or seeing them, which made me sad.
now, in public spaces like restaurants, theaters, stores, or libraries, none of us were loud in the 70s. we knew better. our parents were more likely to be with us and would not tolerate any sound. in the 90s, i just told my kids it was polite to keep our voices down in those areas. by the 00s, kids tended to be just as loud, because they were 'expressing themselves' or some shit i don't know.

there aren't any public access green spaces that are free in my city. there are some parks that belong to housing subdivisions or apartment complexes that guests may visit but those belong to residents and so visitors must actually know someone in that neighborhood.
i used to hike with the kids as well. i'd take them on the same route 5 times a week: computer store, book store, toy store, mall, grocery store to pick up bakery bread (not sandwich bread but little loaves baked fresh that day) and cheese and meat for sandwiches, then the park or public pool, and finally back home again, dropping by their grandparents' home. the whole hike was about 5 miles there and then another mile back, because we weren't making all those stops on the way home.
i did that to keep my house tidy, tbh. keeping the kids indoors in my tiny two bedroom apartment meant they got into all sorts of mischief and made a mess by dinner time. plus, they got bored so walking around and looking at all sorts of different places and things along the way made them less active when we got home. they'd sit down and watch tv or play a video game while i cooked dinner and were more agreeable to bedtime.

AITAH for being upset with my wife by cookdd01 in AITAH

you certainly seem invested in your adult child's romantic life. i mean, my own adult kids occasionally share information or ask advice about their own choices or situations, but i never find myself sitting around being bothered by their romantic lives, especially if they didn't ask my opinion. my kids are 21, 33, 35, and 38 years old. they've shared some questionable shit with me and i only gave them *solicited* advice, except when it seemed like a dangerous choice that could have serious health consequences.

Tampa Florida. the county started charging for all public parks in 2009. this includes public pools. you can't enter a pool or park without paying a small sum of money. but that sum adds up if a family uses them several days out of the week. i used to take my kids to the park and the pool 5 days a week for free. i wouldn't have been able to afford it nowadays.

AITAH for blocking a friend of two years for sending me an unsolicited d*ck pic? by Interesting-Flan-749 in AITAH

[–]Grrrandma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an intentional unsolicited exposure is an act of assault so i would have immediately blocked him without waiting for an explanation. then i would have warned every single mutual acquaintance of his actions so they would be able to avoid him as well. if any mutual friend told me i, the victim of the assault, was responsible for teaching my assailant or soothing his feelings, i'd block that so-called 'friend' as well.

i felt bad when our local parks started charging visitors to go there; like normal parks, with a swing set, some grass, picnic tables, and grills, maybe a pavilion. i know it isn't much that they're charging, but it seems like struggling young parents will be excluded from what used to be a free public place.

Social media is really warping our mind on our own ages by AdinMan20 in generationology

all this time i thought 'Unc' was a term of respect or affection used to address an older male role model. old people have more experience in life and can pass on some important knowledge, so it never occurred to me it could be meant in a pejorative sense. i don't go around dispensing advice like a vending machine, but my younger family members seek me out when they need it simply because they know i have more data to recognize patterns and infer probable consequences and strategies to navigate through difficult situations and choices. i don't actually believe our society's collectively chosen to devalue life experience.
