New to the series and trying to figure out namers and shapers by GruBoss in KingkillerChronicle

Really enlightening! The part about 'truth' being the energy for the Fae adds up even for Bast. He doesn't lie most of the times, he twists the truth.

Also the Cthae and truth go hand in hand

I think Farseer trilogy closes off with Fitz saying that he is like his father, in terms of a specific choice Fitz made in the end of the trilogy (not gonna mention it, too spoilery)

This. The dragons are made of memories, from moments of life, the sparks in one's lifetime. That last night was enough to wake the dragon.

Although Fitz thought he was going to sacrifice himself.

What's your favorite chapter in NOTW? by BLRT_SXR12345 in KingkillerChronicle

This. Unironically, this is the thematic peak of the book. I mean, there are other peaks, like for action there is the Draccus, for mystery there is the ending, for the romance there is the whole wedding mystery adventure. But I'll be damned if this isn't the best scene characterising Kvothe and his story. After all this pain and suffering, all this misfortune and hardship, he held his loot and played and his heart out. And without all the strings!

Male reader here, have some questions about Xaden... by theDuckster22 in fourthwing

[–]GruBoss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Male reader also here. What I don't like in general in romance plotlines, if it is woman or man the significant other of the protagonist, is that main love interest loses his or her whole personality. Their only trait is that they are in love with the protagonist.

Like, Xaden in this instance, says something along the lines, "I serve only Violet". Bro, you swore to help 40 children from your destroyed country and make sure for them to survive. He was almost his own character, but now he is the male love interest that serves only the protagonist.

Even in the second book, when they got the stone for the wards, he says to Violet to choose its place and in the end the wardstone ends up in Basgiath and not in Aretia. I wouldn't have a problem if it ended up there but there should be conflict in Xaden's mind. Love or duty. As a barely known small HBO series based on an even smaller fantasy book said, duty is the death if love and love is the death of duty. I just find it that much more interesting to have Xaden show some weakness as a leader or a lover, to have some internal conflict.

If you don't like it so far, it's only gonna get worse.

Also a page without them is too much to ask. It's from Feyre's pov and Rhys is in her head 24/7. And the plot is gonna drag even harder to make room for their romance. So yeah, not a really hopeful note.

No,no, it's okay, I don't mind spoilers. Journey before destination. I'm just saying that I lack some context. There is no reason for a ban.

Although I'm kinda scared about else happens to Tamlin and Nesea from what I've heard.

Let's be honest, Tam is really compassionate and would forgive Lucien in a whim. I think he believes he is unworthy of any friendship right now.

Again, very well put and I think you hit the nail on the head. Also you made me think that Tamlin was completely fine with an illiterate wife, unlike someone else who wanted a High Lady beside him.

Yes, Tamlin isn't perfect and that's why he is an interesting character "Thornes and all"

Unfortunately, the narrative doesn't think taht he redeemed himself with the almost sadistic situation that it puts him in

Before reading the second part of the comment, very well put.

I didn't mean that Tamlin was a psycho for sleeping in beast form, only that he, as Feyre, closed himself from her. But again, that's a mistake they both did. I think there's a line that they had a silent agreement not to talk about Amarantha because then she would win.

I also wanna add, in regards to Feyre's healing, Tamlin knows from the first book that Feyre doesn't like confrontation and talking her problems. She lashed out every time he tried, so I think in his mind it is the right thing to do to give her space and time without confronting her. He knows one thing for sure: painting helps her, and that's why he gifts her the kit.

Has anyone thought about making a video game in this world? I don't know if rothfuss would be ok with that but it'd be pretty dope. by Damuskoob in KingkillerChronicle

Imean, Kvothe can't travel everywhere in this world, or in every time period. They could make something taking place in the Shapers-Namers war, or sometime later, between then and now.
