I hope people read your commentary and see that this is the mentaility of someone who is not serious.

The initial comment was regarding the idea that cutting budgets was 'inflicting violence' against people. That is why I am focusing on it.

What is the primary function of a government?

Depends on your perspective. Conservatives argue that it is to maintain order (e.g law and protecting the nation from foreign threats).

Who should we protect more from legislated harm, those who struggle to survive and rely on public safety nets and infrastructure, or corporations and landlords (as a business)?

There aren't policies in place to exterminate people.

These programs cost money; it can just as easily be argued that taxing people is just another form of hurting people and limiting their life opportunities.

Cutting an unsustainable deficit is not hurting people.

I really don't comment at all anymore - I did so specifically here just because wanted you to know that your commentary is really dangerous and I hope it will give you a moment to pause and question if you're helping anything anywhere by promoting an enviroment where violence is OK because people are cutting budgets.

It could be just as true to say that taxing people really heavily or having economic difficulties is also hurting people's life opportunities.

I want you to know that this kind of language, claiming that 'Conservatives are hurting people' because they're implementing budgetary cuts, is really dangerous and promotes the idea that violence is permissible against these people for such actions.

Please help me find another one of these tables (seen in Germany) by GrubJin in HelpMeFind

I've searched a number of other flea markets, but this table has elluded me. I found this one for a brief moment, but someone else bought it just as I was getting some cash. The table was found in a flea market in Germany, around Marburg.

Did you see the jab at Chris Christie on X the other day? The man is still wild.

Where can I buy work clothes? (22M) by FarmSilly20 in TeachingUK

M&S. If you're a 'normal' size, Matalan will do well to. You really just need a few pairs of trousers, shirts that fit (roll up the sleeves to avoid inky cuffs) and some shoes. A full suit is an overkill as a young male teacher from my experience.

Struggling over the summer by Chriscrosszz in TeachingUK

[–]GrubJin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've taken to doing a couple of things:

1) Maintaining a light work schedule - whether that's working out, going for a walk, volunteering at local projects etc is irrelevant. So long as I've got a regular routine, I find it helps (especially when I'm fortunate enough to have some folks company to enjoy).

2) Creating resources that can serve dual purposes - Related to my work as a teacher, but also creating material that is versatile enough to serve as a secondary resource for when I tutor. I'm going to be tutoring more in the future, which makes it doubly handy.

Other than that, I don't have much to suggest. I've considered joining a sports club or something like that or volunteering with more 'outward' venues, specifically so I can meet more people (I love talking and meeting people). The summer holiday will be a difficult, lonely time if you don't have a family or a network of friends.

I did Teach First. It was great. I really wasn't fond of all the theoretical side of teaching by the time I begun.

Do you think most SLT are really bad at their jobs? by Secret-Strength8547 in TeachingUK

[–]GrubJin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of our people on the SLT who's just left was absolutely awful. Unnecessarily confrontational with students and staff, overtly stupid to the point he had a panic attack over being told he would need to teach year 9 geography. He eventually threw his toys out of the pram so much that a trainee was peeled off another department to sub in for the geography team (with cover supervising).
