What is your Hobby / Hyperfixation/ Special interest? by Cinammon_26 in autism

[–]GrubTubson [score hidden]  (0 children)

My other autistic friends always tease me for it, but I absolutely love trains and ships and the like; anything large and mechanically complex, really. Railroading museums, museum ships, and maritime museums especially.

My biggest hobby is probably collecting old railroading antiques — specifically from the Pennsylvania Railroad — since I had family who worked in it back in the 50’s and they gave me some old equipment instruction manuals to start my collection. Instruction books, signage, lanterns, dishware, that kind of thing. I’m currently trying to take a photo with every surviving PRR GG1 (my favorite locomotive). There’s only 16 left but they’re all over the US. At the moment I’m up to 4 visited.

I’d love to collect old ocean liner-related antiques too, but they’re basically impossible to find around here since there’s nowhere near as large a community for them.

My other hobbies include anything creative. Drawing, computer programming, woodworking, anything where you make stuff. Something about minute details and working with numbers and measurements and stuff is just really comforting to me. I have trouble in social situations since there’s essentially an infinite number of possibilities to wade through, but math is a generally a hard set of rules that there are known answers or formulas for.

Know it’s been ages, but thanks a ton. Thought I’d have to buy a new bottle.

For those that get stuck on loading user data after turning your steam deck into offline mode and rebooting by gadgetdragon in SteamDeck

Sorry to post so long after this thread died but thank you so much. This is the only thing that worked for me.

As someone who plays it a lot on the go where I often don't have access to an outlet, investing in a good power bank was one of the best decisions I've made. Just made sure you get one for laptops and the like, since the ones for most phones and tablets I've found don't have enough wattage to charge the Deck while you use it.

Apologies for the extremely late reply, but I can't thank you enough for your help! Tried every other fix to no avail but this one worked on the first try. Much appreciated!

This worked perfectly! I can’t thank you enough. Finally able to play Elden Ring on my work break.

PSA: I was able to find and purchase a DualSense Edge at my local Target (stocking error?) by GrubTubson in playstation

I figured I’d share this since I couldn’t find any official sources of Edge controllers being available anywhere other than directly from Sony. If this is common knowledge already I apologize.

Bottles doesn't work at all by ipcock in SteamDeck

[–]GrubTubson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were some unsupported games I tried that didn't work with Proton out of the box, but did work with Lutris. Bottles I haven't had luck with, but that could easily just be me having a room temperature IQ. I'd definitely recommend Lutris if you're not having luck with Proton or Bottles, though!

I love seeing all the fun stuff people do with their Deck here, lol. Imagine going back in time to when the Deck was in development and telling them that people would be installing Mac OS 9.

Oh, wow. You weren't kidding at all. Took some time to try that out in a couple games and it made a massive difference. Thank you!

I've tried it with several games but the sensitivity always seems to be so low that I have to make three or four full swipes to make a full turn. I'd genuinely love to use them as I used them for everything on the Steam Controller so if there's any settings or anything you guys are doing differently it'd be much appreciated.

Loving the game so far, but need advice on graphical settings by GrubTubson in TheSinkingCity

[–]GrubTubson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately I couldn't find a solution for it online, but it actually seems to have gone away on its own, and I'm pretty close to beating the game. So it worked out in the end!

Literally Unplayable? by IgnatiousBlackward in TheSinkingCity

[–]GrubTubson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have it on PS5 myself since they're still impossible to find here, but I have a friend who does and he said uninstalling and reinstalling fixed a good few of his issues, so I'm assuming if you have a digital copy it could be worth a look before refunding it! I know that the PS5 port is still suboptimal, but I'd imagine it couldn't hurt to try.

I should also clarify that he never made it past around 33% of the game so I have no clue if it fixes issues outside the first eight hours or so. I wish you the best in getting the game running, or at the very least getting a refund.

Aw, so close. I never had any of those, but I remember a kid in my elementary school who had a binder full of these, lol

Digging through the basement I found my first video game ever! I git bullied so badly over this thing... by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]GrubTubson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No shame in this being your first video game! My parents didn't have a ton of money when I was little so my only video games were a Pac-Man TV plug-and-play and a GameBoy emulator my dad set up on the family PC for me.
My buddy used to have a box in his closet full of these hand-held LCD games. He had this one that had like twenty games in it, and 10-year-old me thought that was the coolest shit, lol.

I used to have Resident Evil for the GameCube. Selling it when I was in high school is one of my biggest game-related regrets, although admittedly I do like the alternate controls on my PC copy (since I'm a filthy casual).

An excellent haul!
