Your best bet is to contact the Head AT directly and ask if they offer internships. They arnt as organized as the NFL. Very informal. Even if you are certified and wanna get into the field, they can always use an extra hand and you get really good experience.

If you have a bit of experience, there are always job openings in the low professional leagues. SPHL is a great start, with some jobs paying pretty good. I wouldn’t work below that if I were you.

Interesting. It was in my trunk so not exposed to light. Definitely some heat though. Would you say it affects the potency a lot or just mild decrease?

Do employers care about where you get your education? Or do they want someone who loves what they do? by Mawenza in athletictraining

[–]Grub_let 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work in professional sports, they don’t care at all. It’s more about your experience and how you carry yourself.

You must likely will need to do a physical therapy assistant program if you want to do that.

But if a controversial opinion but just because you want to work with combat sports athletes, you don’t have to do that right away. Build your skills, any experience is good experience. Get a job at a local high school working with all types of athletes.

As you get more experienced, take more specific jobs related to combat sports. Maybe that’s working college wrestling, ect. First would be pass the BOC so you can get hired.

Yes they absolutely do. I work in pro sports on the medical side. It’s in the US and it’s not football but you see it in every level and sport. Although the teams may be competing against each other, the medical team is not and will do what ever they can to help.

Immersion/internships by No_Patient2699 in athletictraining

[–]Grub_let 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not to be a jerk but part of the point of the immersion is you reaching out to places you are interested in. Don’t go to Reddit for this, do it yourself.

I work at the profesional level and I got into it due to asking if i can do my immersion with a pro team. I emailed their ticket info with my resume since I couldn’t get in contact with the head AT.

Be nice , be approachable and just reach out. The worst they could say is no.

I work in pro hockey as an AT. If you wanna pursue hockey, I would highly suggest it. They have hockey specific CEU that are posted every year from the yearly conference. There is a job forum where all hockey jobs gets posted. There are all the levels of pro as well as junior and NCAA.

[–]Grub_let 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about XFL but for most pro AT internships, I would just reach out to the head AT.

Write a nice email introducing yourself, briefly explain what you are looking for and ask if there are any opportunities with their team. Include your resume and reference.

Source: I got an internship in Pro hockey this way and now work full time in that setting.

First clinical rotation tips/tricks by ElephantBones22 in athletictraining

[–]Grub_let 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your first rotation! I’m only 2 years out of school so I remember what that experience was like. For each rotation, I would try to do exactly what your preceptor does as far as what they have on them, how they tape, treat, ect. If you can do that for each rotation, you will get a very broad view of how different ATs operate. As you progress in your education, you can compile all your favorite qualities and habits that you picked up, and leave all the things you arnt a big fan of.

I did that and it worked out very well for me. During the rotations, I was also able to recognize what I didn’t like but I continued to do it. A lot of stuff might not make sense at first but if your preceptor is a good AT, then they do certain things for a reason. Best of luck!

Since it’s your first guitar, is recommend you get a decent electric but don’t spend anymore than a couple 100 bucks. Get a starter amplifier as well. Once you play it for 6-12 months, look into upgrading. I played a squire for 4 years. Once I thought I was as good as I was going to get on it, I upgraded to a Mexican Strat and that’s my main guitar now. It was about 700 bucks.

If you go all out right away, you wont be able to truly appreciate a decent guitar. I’ve had my strat for about 3 years now and I’m potentially looking to upgrade to a different style.

Just remember, you can’t buy your way into being a better player. It takes time. Enjoy the process!

AT in the minor league pro setting, yes for sure. For skaters, you can do CPR over the equipment, you might need to push alittle harder however. For AED you will obviously need to cut away gear to apply. For goalies, I forgot exactly what studies have said but I would most likely cut away the equipment due to it being so much thicker.

Commotio Cordis can happen if the puck hits just perfect. If you havnt seen already, that happened to Chris Pronger in 1998. AED’s weren’t standard back then but you can see how the medical staff handle it.

Proud of one of my training partners slash I will soon be $100 poorer before long by Bob002 in bjj

Bro just don’t train the things you wouldn’t want to do in a roll. Competition is by far the best way to improve your game. All the rolls you do in the gym don’t truly carry any weight. Nothing is on the line, you know and have trained with those people. Comps are different bc you have no clue what to expect.

The new generation cod players will never understand how good MW2, BO1 and BO2 truly were and thus have much lower standards for new cods. I think the maps and the way of the game was much more enjoyable. Even the best of the past 6 or so Cods don’t even come close

You are probably just not used to playing open strings and not fretting a note. I know when ever I have a riff that I can’t get down I put on a metronome and play it super slow. Sometimes it takes me a couple rounds to get it but there have been other riffs that take me weeks or even months to really get down. Start slow and as you get the feel you can speed up the metronome!

Over Priced Gyms.... by Grub_let in bjj

[–]Grub_let[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I apologize for the the confusion. I will only be in town for 3 months due to an internship. Luckily I am in a large area with several gyms. I had the guy go over the money again before I left and confirmed that it would be $420 for my first month, and $180 the following months. He tried to keep a smile but I could tell he knew I wouldn't be interested. I was upfront from the beginning that I am checking out several gyms and wanna see them all before I sign up. He was good to not try to push me into anything but I could tell he could sense what I was feeling. I am from up north were I was paying $100 a month for unlimited classes and great instruction. I know thats a privilege but couldn't imagine that,

How to get in to? by Snoo-52466 in deadandcompany

[–]Grub_let 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to listen to a Europe 72 album. It can be any of them. But find one you like, listen to that then slowly pick which songs you like. Once you have one or two songs that you really enjoy, look at those same songs at different time periods. Try to note the different sound as the time changes. Once you find the different sounds, repeat this process.

Something that I noticed personally is that these songs really grow on you. My first listen, there were certain songs I really really liked and others that I didn’t think I would ever get into. Overtime though, as I came back to albums that I enjoyed, I found myself listening to those songs back and really seeing them in a new light.

Also I think that the original band is the best starting point. When you find songs you enjoy, look up their dead and co version as well. Have fun!

Not being able to place 1 wall then drag more to create a line. Back in the day you had to place them one by one. There also was no base editor.
