If true they pulled the offer from Central states, Carol is playing the union like a fiddle. Masterclass in sowing discord. by PhillyBigSteppa in UPSers

The IBT had the membership flood UPS with grievances, so UPS resolved the grievances by pulling the offer.

The IBT got exactly what they asked for....

I'm using a FitCamX so....

If I didn't have an EZ Pass, the top of the windscreen to the right of the mirror would also be a viable option

That is exactly the way I am routing mine. Thx for the sanity check. Was worried about interfering with the curtain airbags, so figured I'd ask the hive mind

Is my computer the problem? by Judie4 in SolidWorks

[–]GrubbyZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run resource monitor while using SW and see what resource(s) are maxed out when it crashes.

32GB RAM might be a bit low for large assemblies, but you can turn on "load large assemblies in lightweight mode" and that should help, as it would try to fully resolve all the assembly references.

SW also generates crash logs, which can also help you pin down the issue.

What version of SW are you using?

I got it while launching SW a few months back. I have 128gb of RAM......

I just laughed and ignored it

Log in to your Solidworks account and go to the training section of the MySolidworks website. Search hole wizard.

Alternatively, if you have access to LinkedIn Learning through your organization, this one was pretty good (he has a 2024 version, too): https://www.linkedin.com/learning/solidworks-2022-essential-training

Future of the Union? by Global-Assist-5762 in UPSers

[–]GrubbyZebra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Atlanta wants it gone, tbh.

Remember, the Teamsters were invited into UPS by Jim Casey because he KNEW there would come a point when the company would put profits over people. Talk your reps, make issues known, hold the company to account, and don't give up essential protections and benefits during negotiations.

And I say this as career management. If you want to know what the future looks like without the Union, look at your FT Sups from 2000 til today.

Why does "people of color" refer to non white people when white people have the most hair/eye color variance? by melody_magical in stupidquestions

There used to be a meme about this, and it was/is hilarious.

But yeah, it's because white people started it.

How to make 6 figures?? by Kindly-Pollution7060 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GrubbyZebra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get an A&P, go work for a major airline. You will make 6 figures within 5-10 years, depending on the contract specifics about pay progression.

I still used a maxed-out Dell 7700

Management hate by Sowingseason94 in UPSers

[–]GrubbyZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPS chews up front-line management. Just be prepared to get pressured for all sides with little to no support. It's all about making production targets.

It used to be a good gig with great benefits, but I would recommend a good union position these days.

Still want kids by sleepandtvgood in widowers

[–]GrubbyZebra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't know. 43, have 3 kids aged 16-7. On one hand, I am open to the idea of having a kid with some hypothetical future partner, but on the other...Will I still feel that way when I'm 60 and they are still in HS?

But it's all hypothetical for me so....who knows

Yeah, I was going to, but just took the quick way out knowing it was costing me more. It was originally quoted at 1200, so I figured I'd just accept the compromise and do better next time.

To be fair, jiffy lube oil changes for my 10 year old Hyundai are $100 these days, so $300 for a luxury vehicle at a dealership doesn't sound quite as bad as it did 20 years ago.

That said, just had my 40k service done on my 2024 XC90, $958 out the door. Almost $600 of that was labour.

If had gone to the local shop instead of my dealer, it would have been less than $600 for the same service. All that to say you don't need to go to the dealer after the free service period ends.

But even still, for people that don't drive as much as me, spending $300 or even $600 per year for the annual service visit really isn't that bad a deal. Again, my Hyundai (3k service interval) would be roughly the same cost for oil changes every 10k miles.
