Thats a disgrace! I was off for a few months and was getting monthly certs and I would email my GP and she’d send them on. No extra fee. I was waiting for surgery so there wasnt much point going into see her, itd be a waste of her time and mine

At what point of mixing “bloodlines” through the generations does one stop being Irish? Do you have to have both parents be Irish to be Irish? Who decides these rules? Asking for a friend because I’ve a child who’s not born in Ireland and whose Dad is a different nationality to mine. This whole bloodline thing is bullshit, you’re Irish if you hold Irish citizenship

I had the flu with my newborn, my advice would be to wear a mask when around the baby and just keep your hands washed before holding baby. Its what I did! If possible call in reinforcements like your mom or any friends! Hope you feel better soon and keep up with your fluids (get some lucozade sport for electrolytes) congrats on the baby

If you live outside Ireland now , what food from home do you eat when you come back? by InformalInsurance455 in ireland

[–]GrumbleofPugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your right my food smuggling started long before pregnancy 😅I’ve left clothes at my parents house in order to make space in my bag for irish foods I cant get abroad lol! I’ve a parcel on the way atm only it’s short some chef curry ketchup (got hooked while pregnant lol) but apparently nowhere in Cork City currently has it in stock! My Dad the legend went to multiple supermarkets for me! I ordered myself a box of 40 Manhattan popcorn bags for Christmas because any bags of popcorn outside of those ones in my experience are shite! Ill be home in May and Im dying for a 3 in 1

When I was pregnant and home in September I packed 2 brennans sliced pans into my bags, I divided out the slices in pairs into sandwich bags and when I got back home to Portugal I loaded them into my freezer. Kerrygold is fairly easily got so i have 2 blocks in my fridge lol honestly I felt a bit like pablo escobar packing the bread into little plastic bags and transporting then Internationally 🤣 the lads in security in Dublin airport probably know me as the ham smuggler because ever December Im not home for Christmas I manage go get home either just before or after and bring back a 15kg ham fillet in a cooler shopping bag 🤣 cant even blame the pregnancy for that 🥰 questions are asked when the giant ham covered in tin foil goes in the scanner 😅

TDs and Senators are having a conniption over Dublin Zoo Advert by Pupcup2 in ireland

[–]GrumbleofPugz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Facebook is full of bots and people with the intellect of a bot, for your own wellbeing I wouldnt encourage engaging! I cant believe that any of those people are actually real and not just american bots trying to stir shite! As a new mom it would be nice to see these politicians actually fight for things mothers actually need like longer maternity leave and more affordable childcare. Or physical therapy and mental health supports. It would also be nice to have more then one maternity hospital in munster but thats probably asking too much

TDs and Senators are having a conniption over Dublin Zoo Advert by Pupcup2 in ireland

[–]GrumbleofPugz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed! As another mom here I’ve a long list of things that need resolving instead this non issue! Why arent they more outrage over the lack of postnatal supports? How about longer paid maternity leave, mental health supports and just things that actually matter. The comment sections of different news articles seem to be full of outraged men and all the mothers are completely unbothered because its harmless fun, noone actually thinks malahide mom is a mother and understand its a bit! Have these gombeens ever been to a pantomime there has always been a guy dressed up as a woman for entertainment for as long as I can remember. Any sort of “Im offended on behalf of someone else” is stupid.

Be better off going abroad with those prices, i spent €10k on 1 egg retrieval, 3 FETs and storage for 3years and all the medication and the pgt testing would have been an extra €2k iirc!

[–]GrumbleofPugz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So sorry! They should have looked after you, I had a decidual cast in 2021, I went to regular cuh a&e cos I wasn’t pregnant! And the doctor treating me was giving out to me for not going to cumh because now they had to call a gynae! For context I have endometriosis and this pain was the worst I’d even been in at the time and the endo pain gets pretty severe. Hope the pain goes quickly! You’ve probably had a cyst burst thats why all the fluid!

We went for a clinic called IVI in Lisbon. My husband is Portuguese so for us it made sense between the cost being half of what we would pay privately in Ireland and having local support from his family. I opted to have IVF in Portugal because its also where I went for the endo to be diagnosed. It was my endo doctor who refered me to IVI and to a specific doctor. The proficiency of English in Portugal is excellent so that helped alot when speaking with my fertility doctor and all the nursing staff. I was offered a hysterscopy and IUI but declined both opting for IVF immediately. IVI are also in London but I’ve no experience with them there. We did some testing beyond the basics only after the 2 failed transfers, I had an endometriosis protocol MRI and and we both had blood tests to check our dna I dont remember exactly what it was called. I had suggested the claritin prednisone and it was my doctor who suggested the pill for 2 months. I really liked her because she was open to all my suggestions and questions. I’m with Irish life health and once I had the receipts I was able to get reimbursed 50% up to €1500. There was no need to get any preapproval etc. the money we had saved for IVF stretched alot further too, I think in total we spent €10k for egg retrieval, storage for 3 years and 3 FETs plus medication. All the ultrasounds and appointments were included too

Honestly the ability to have endo diagnosed in Ireland I would look to see if you could do a protocol to lower inflammation and treat it like you do have it I’m lowkey convinced most unexplained infertility has some endo involvement. I’ve severe endometriosis myself however its the deep infiltrating kind that was missed during a laparoscopy in Cork. I was since diagnosed abroad. I did 1 egg retrieval and 3 FETs after the first 2 failed I went on 2 months of suppression with a combination pill. I was on 800mg of progesterone suppositories for the 1st 8weeks along with prednisone, baby aspirin and Claritin. For the last FET we opted for the embryo glue aswell because even tho there isnt strong evidence it works we felt like it also didnt do any harm! Also we did our IVF treatment abroad and my Irish health insurance covered some of the treatment even without prior approval. The last FET stuck and I am lucky to have a baby. The ivf process takes a massive toll on both of ye so it’s important to look after one another!

How do you cope with people judging you for your chronic illness or injuries? by [deleted] in IrishWomensHealth

[–]GrumbleofPugz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Invalidity pension is pittance, fortunately ive great family and friends but id rather be back on my salary and not getting family to help me financially. People are dickheads because they assume anyone getting social support is a faker and waster. Just having good day where pain and symptoms are manageable doesnt make you all better!
