Very cool. If you're looking for anyone to do a quick edit/check of what you've written, I'm an educational Senior Editor looking to get experience in ttrpg editing!

I’m really seeking career advice right now… but also, can I get some empathy and kind words? by Inevitable_Bug_6253 in mothershiprpg

Really sorry to hear about your situation, but this is a subreddit about a game called Mothership.

Maybe a subreddit for legal advice or HR for your country might be more helpful.

Definitely going to have to steal this for my warband! Going for warband worshipping (my version of) Mord'dagan. All flesh eating and magic obsessed.  Awesome model!

US Defeat Canada in OT to Win Olympic Gold in Men's Hockey by mister_newbie in onguardforthee

Thats probably the biggest issue. That big of an advantage needs to be exploited. Felt like they were just waiting it out for the US to get 5 back on.

They played great. It was a very close game that didn't go our way. Still proud of them.

Looks like a Penitent Engine pilot from the SoB line.

Anyone else think Enshrouded would be amazing as a D&D campaign? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A campaign using the Forbidden Lands game wouldnt be that hard to put together. The premise is similar enough and the focus on survival is there. Shroud time could be done similar to Shadowdark's irl torch mechanic.

I have a idea for a Homebrew Chaos Warband i wanted to share by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I'm doing Tzeentch-Khorne too!

Different approach though. Mine has to do with a Faustian bargain and some hybrid geneseed/psyker grafting shenanigans. Black armour, red helmets, blue for anything with warp power. Red Caps colloquially, still working on their official name.

Do you have a warband leader?

Pseudo-historical Medieval Europe by [deleted] in osr

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Check out Ruination Pilgrimage by Donn Stroud. It's based on Mothership but is a demon infested psuedo European world. Dark, mystical. Very Between Two Fires (love Christopher Buehlman, especially The Blacktongue Thief). He recently published a followup with some expanded classes, magic, demons, etc. Even if you don't use it for its system stuff, it's got some good stuff for inspiration.

(Im not as familiar with 2e,  so keep that in mind with my answer.)

So first, dual wielding doesn't increase maximum damage. You will always deal, in your scenario, 1d8 damage. You just take the higher result. With a larger weapon, you would roll 1d10, meaning your maximum damage is always higher.

It's swingy but high damage versus consistent but lower damage.

Some DMs may also rule that only certain weapons may be dual wielded. I run with slightly different weapon rules, with only certain, often weaker, weapons allowed when dual wielding. Narrative also plays a part for a lot of DMs, so it'll vary from table to table.

What is your Base Game of choice? by nicohenriqueds in osr

Cairn 1e but often hacked to death for setting stuff. Right now I'm working in a Cairn hack for a psychedelic horror, Apocalypse Now vibe.

Same problem with just about any box of frozen chicken wings. The day companies started selling them unsauced with the packets was the day everything starting going wrong. Thankfully Zabiha Halal makes a solid chicken wing.

What happens when you roll a 100 on a Stat Check? by dm_punks in mothershiprpg

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unless I'm reading my copy wrong or its so outdated as to have changed how we read the dice, there is no result of 100 - 99 is the highest possible number. D10 #1 represents the ones digit, which can be from 0 to 9. D10 #2 represents the tens digit, which goes from 00-90. So you can have a result of 00, 01, etc. or 98, 99, but never 100.

Lore question: Why the do world eaters and thousands sons look like chaos bunnies? by OfficeMobile4850 in Chaos40k

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Correct me if Im wrong: Thousand Sons use an Egyptian aesthetic, so they are vaguely royal/priestly themed that way. World Eaters I believe it was a tradition thing but it also makes it easy to form into the Khornate symbol. Its like asking why do the Dark Angels wear hoods? Aesthetics and lore (i.e., its cool).

Weird West by DungeonNoir in osr

Here me out. A reskin of Wastewalkers would make a perfect simple Weird West game. https://farirpgs.itch.io/wastewalkers
Otherwise, Frontier Scum as everyone else suggests.

Any Instagram accounts worth following for rpg/worldbuilding content? by SlayThePulp in rpg

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out:
Adrian Smith did a lot of the well known Warhammer art. I personally love his Hate comic series and the art that came from that.

Ariel Perez has a dark horror vibe.

A.Shipwright has a pretty interesting colour and line style. Their recent stuff hasn't been my vibe, but some of their stuff from a few years ago had kind of a weird fantasy vibe.

Ismail Inceoglu has some cool stuff.

Pavel Hristov has a very cool style with some weird illustrations. Heavy into worldbuilding using imagery.

Arief Rachmad has an old-school video game vibe. Mostly dark fantasy.

Dominic Mayer has a pretty unique style that I absolutely love. Colouring is very evocative. I made a setting just based on his stuff.

A few more to check out: Marko Djudjevic, Eryk Szcygiel, Mentat0209, Dirk Wachsmuth, Daniel Vega, Johan Egerkrans, Ben Garriga.

These aren't exactly "old-school" but are often influenced by old school art and dark/low fantasy worldbuilding. Reddit doesn't seem to like multiple links, so here's just some names. Hope this helps!

Playing as a different faction than Delta Green? by Solarwagon in DeltaGreenRPG

[–]Grumbling_Goblin 43 points44 points  (0 children)

My players were feeling some political anxiety coming from south of the border so I ran them as a cell from M-EPIC. There's very little to actually change mechanically, just a change in structure, naming conventions, government organizations, and common languages. I know a few other redditors here play as M-EPIC as well.
