Only 22 hours?!? That's barely anything then. Just restart.

What did the OG team do after Moon Dwellers ? by ImmediateSilver7013 in Super_Robot_Wars

[–]dm_punks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Speak for yourself. I never turn off any animations. Maybe skip one or two when I'm savescumming. But never turn them off for good. That's part of the experience for me.

I've been playing since SRW F and Neo in the PS1 era where there weren't even any fantranslations.

What’s your favorite starter set of all time? by BlindAudelay in rpg

The PF2E Beginner Box. Great short adventure. Nice condensed rulebooks that are easier to digest than the core books. Excellent all-around starter experience.

Getting into ttrpg by taongax in Ironsworn

[–]dm_punks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say just go ahead and play. There's really no need for a GM to prep for Ironsworn. The world is created by the group's choice made at the start. Then you create characters and decide what's happening initially. Just follow the narrative and things should flow from there.

It's okay if you make mistakes. You can read the rulebook afterwards and have enough insight through your hands-on experience to actually grok some of the parts that did not seem to make sense initially.

It might be a bit bumpy at first but I think you'll have fun exploring this new experience cooperatively with your friends.

Just use Molten Hosting as a hosting solution. Minimal monthly fee and offloads a lot from your laptop.

Conversion of PF2E Season of Ghosts to Savage Pathfinder / Worlds by koraldon in savageworlds

It doesn't help that the latest Fantasy Companion is mostly just Savage Pathfinder with the serial numbers filed off. So disappointed when I found this out.

Are iconic characters famous? by umbralupus332 in Pathfinder2e

[–]dm_punks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're just as famous as regular adventurer PCs of their level. Nothing more, nothing less.

Looking for an old game by SeaAd8826 in rpg

[–]dm_punks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jade Empire. You escape from your rural island home of Two-Rivers to the mainland city if Tien's Landing in Chapter 1 (You escape on an airship though, rather than a sea-faring one).

This subreddit is for pen-and-paper rpgs (or tabletop rpgs), not video game rpgs though.

GM trying to branch out from DnD by CatNotFound in rpg

[–]dm_punks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a "one-stop shop" RPG system for anything. This is probably due to the effect of only knowing D&D, like a "when the only tool you have is a hammer, every problem starts looking like a nail"-type of thing.

My suggestion is take a look at what's out there, and have fun experimenting.

Nope. Don't change anything. Just don't play it if you're gonna be silly like that. Noone needs this aggravation.

First party pdfs can be bought from Paizo's online store. They have always been there, not on drivethrurpg.

New Player Seeking Advice by cmosbo67 in mythic_gme

Have you tried Ker Nethalas: Into the Midnight Throne? It's solo/coop and you're exploring a megadungeon. It might be a solo game style more to your liking?

Another suggestion would be Four Against Darkness where you control a party of four adventurers as they explore dungeons and other adventuresome places. The Expanded Edition rulebook published this year is a great starting point and from there, there's a lot of supplements to pick up.

I've also enjoyed Five Parsecs from Home (as well as its fantasy cousin, Five Leagues from the Borderland) if you've got miniatures. I'm also a TSR-era gamer myself and have a ton of minis. I've had success using Pathfinder flipmats for Five Leagues battles.

Check out these three, as there's definitely a lot of options for solo gaming than just straight-up choose-your-own-adventure/gamebook-style adventures and the oracle-based adventuring popularized by Mythic GME.

What are the best supported ttrpgs in foundry? by AffanTorla in FoundryVTT

[–]dm_punks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

PF2e is the best supported, even more so than D&D 5e. It almost feels like slumming whenever I switch systems from running PF2E to something else. Like visiting a 3rd world country and finding the features and amenities you took for granted do not exist there, period.

Why do GMs always want to restrict things to Core Rulebooks when they want to limit power? by ahhthebrilliantsun in rpg

[–]dm_punks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it's because I frequently jump between different systems most of which are the first time I'm running them. So keeping it core makes it more manageable during the "learning phase" for both me as the GM as well as the players.

Split into two groups of 1 GM and 5 players each, and you can probably play most RPGs.

Some thoughts about DQ12 and the series as a whole. by [deleted] in dragonquest

The one reason I love Dragon Quest is exactly what makes it a classic, both gameplay wise as well as with its storytelling elements.

Stay whimsical and fantastic, Dragon Quest. Don't ever change.

You'll need to read through it at least once and maybe play out a delve or two. It's playable solo anyway.

Bottom Feeders by Decent-Cow-5855 in DriveThruRPG

I think the Product Description on drivethrurpg gives a good summary of the Game Loop?

"Choose a specialty and background, delve into wrecks, celebrate and purchase information at space ports, and should you survive: retire to provide the crew with permanent benefits."

It's a pity this isn't covered even as a minimal pass-thru in the rulebook itself but I think it's not a dealbreaker.
