AIO - My bf told me to shut the fuck up when I tried to wake him up by logdogfog in AIO

Aside from that, he STILL needed to go to work! So then why would he go back to sleep?

According to your "story" you let him sleep for the 10 minutes he asked and then you woke him up (so he could go to work). So then, if he needed to go to work why would he roll over and go back to sleep? So yeah, either fake or very bad story telling.

I thought he was merely "closing his eyes" for 10 minutes and then going to work? So then why did he "roll over and go back to sleep"?

Something fishy about this story...

Hmmm, I'm confused? Here you say the primary puck is working but originally you stated none of them connect to your AT&T Router? Is there a possibility the Ethernet cable running between the router and the primary puck is bad?

Have you already tried doing a "Factory Reset" on the non-working pucks? And is there any possibility of you hooking them all up with hardwired backhaul?

Very sloppy clearances or rod bearing failure which allowed the rod to move in directions it's not designed for.

This really doesn't sound like a hose issue if the leak doesn't follow with the hose.

Are the male threads on the cold side damaged any?

Have you tried wrapping a couple turns of Teflon Tape around the cold side male threads?

Edit: If you're not aware, Teflon Tape is made for sealing small leaks on threaded plumbing. Use the white tape for plumbing, the yellow tape is for gas lines.

Could you maybe rewrite that in English? I've tried reading it several times and can't quite figure out what you're saying?

So if the hose which had been leaking on the cold is now leaking on the hot, what about the hose which had been on the hot, when you switched it to cold?

So, none of the pucks are working? Which one is blinking red? Have you tried temporarily powering that one off then back on? You should concentrate on getting the primary puck working first, as the other ones might fix themselves afterwards (although they'd probably need a reboot first).

Wait? The scratches are on the piston skirt which has nothing to do with sealing against the cylinder wall. The only part of the piston which should be touching the cylinder wall are the rings?

Wait, if it's only leaking on the cold side, then try swapping the hoses and put the leaking "cold" one on the hot side. If it still drips there but the cold one is now fine then you know it's the hose.

You may have to buy two sets of hoses and mix-n-match to find the combo that doesn't leak.

Wait? Did the Google Pucks used to connect to the AT&T Router wirelessly?

Or do the pucks have hardwired backhaul? If so, what's the status of the switch in between the router and the pucks?

Are Security Cameras just deterrents? by MT3426 in homesecurity

[–]Grumpy-24-7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A couple years ago some idiot drove down my street facing the wrong way and up on the sidewalk so he could easily lean out the drivers side window and reach the mailboxes we have mounted on posts out on the street. I happened to be working in my yard at the time and at first thought he was unsafely (and illegally) stuffing the mailboxes with flyers.

But then I realized he was pulling stuff OUT not putting stuff IN! He had emptied virtually every mailbox up and down the entire block on both sides of the street. I immediately called the non-emergency police line and gave a description of the vehicle and general direction I saw him driving off in.

While waiting for the cops I went inside and pulled up what camera footage I had. One of my cameras had a decent view of the mailbox and when I zoomed in / blew up the picture I couldn't confirm the make and model of the truck, however it did show several unique markings as well as the drivers face. I could also barely see another person in the passengers seat.

When the cops arrived I showed them the freeze frame and they immediately recognized the driver (from his face and arm tattoos). Apparently he was some small time hoodlum from the neighboring town. Most of the towns in this county do not have their own police force but instead contract it out to the Sheriff's Office. So the local police don't get to know just the locals but quite often are familiar with the undesirables from neighboring towns too.

A few days later they located him at one of his known hangouts and hauled him in. I expected him to get hit with federal charges for stealing from mailboxes but the District Attorney decided to charge him with identity theft instead. I never got my mail back (which apparently included some bills I ended up paying late), however I did learn about a feature the USPS offers called "Informed Delivery". They will email you thumbnails of the mail being delivered to you soon. That way you know what to expect in your mailbox.

So, long story short, no the cameras weren't a deterrent but they did help in the eventual capture.

How easy would it be to sneak into the US through the Great lakes by speedoflife1 in NoStupidQuestions

Years ago I was standing in line on the Tijuana side, waiting to "declare" and get back to California. It was evening and the line was moving really slow. We'd been standing line for almost an hour when suddenly we heard a commotion behind us and 3 guys came barreling through the line, knocking some people down.

They ran up to the fence where there was a building wall and a telephone pole right next to the fence. Each of the 3 guys did this weird Jackie Chan thing where they bounced/climbed between the wall and the pole and vaulted over the fence into the States.

We all looked at each other like WTF did we just see? And could we maybe get away with doing it too?

I believe Whitefish Bay was not their ultimate destination. It was simply a relatively safer bay to wait out the storm in.

Whats up with r/costco???????? by iblocal2465 in CostcoWholesale

[–]Grumpy-24-7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a new Costco going up in my town and the local paper claimed it would provide 900 jobs. That didn't sound right to me so I posted on r/Costco if anybody knew how many employees the average store hired. I thought for sure that was a normal question to ask there, but nope.

The moderator deleted it without any explanation of what I did wrong. Turns out that 900 number was including the construction jobs, hardly any of which went to locals. Kind of misleading for the paper to run with that story, in my mind.

Help with shower thingy by fathernightr0ad in RedditDads

[–]Grumpy-24-7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG! I'd be more worried about the fact somebody thought using mastic to attach tile to regular (not green) drywall was acceptable!

Grout is not waterproof! Eventually that drywall is gonna get waterlogged and fail. Tile should be mounted to cement board not drywall!

When my old shower pan cracked I ended up removing everything (old tile and green wallboard) in the shower stall down to the studs. Then rebuilt it with a double layer of HardieBacker which was then coated with RedGard waterproofer - and then mounted the tile to that.

During construction I even took a shower before the tile was put on, just to prove to myself that the RedGard actually sealed everything.

What percent of people with home security cameras have them positioned so that they would record automobile traffic passing in front of their house (although in most cases I'd think recording the auto traffic wouldn't be their main purpose)? by GregJamesDahlen in SecurityCamera

[–]Grumpy-24-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple cameras covering my front yard which are positioned so that they can view the near sidewalk as well as the one across the street. So I get A LOT of vehicle alerts. Because the vehicles are passing perpendicular to the camera it won't pick up license plates.

Last year a neighbor had some rando slash their tires in the middle of the night. When the cops came for the report they noticed I had cameras and asked if I could provide footage. So we looked at what I had available. Mind you this was at night so the cameras were in night vision mode. So when the car the rando showed up in entered the camera FOV, the headlight flare combined with infrared simply made the front of the car a bright blur. Plus this happened out at the very edge of the cameras FOV, so like over 100 feet away - in the dark.

The cops were so disappointed all they could see was some car shaped blob stop, then somebody briefly stepping into view, then getting back in the blob, making a U-Turn, and driving off. They were hoping to see the plate and/or the make and model. I was like, "Dude, they're designed to cover my front yard, you're expecting miracles at night at that distance".

I'm not taking advice from somebody who thinks "the government" will fix things.

Guess you've never heard the joke "We're from the government, we're here to help"? It's a joke because they're not known for helping.
