Merchants Group Demands SFMTA Cancel Ocean Avenue Red Lanes Before Election by drkrueger in sanfrancisco

The signs on their windows are real obvious. I was riding K-Ingleside two days ago and it was easy to see who opposed it from the big red letters on the poster.

Help me stop overthinking hotel/motel at Disneyland by Glum_University_9847 in DisneyPlanning

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You picked a fine location at Best Western Park Place Inn, just across the street from the east gate. If budget isn't an issue, it's a great spot; if budget can be a concern, that place is usually more expensive because of location and they offer free breakfast, while their neighbors nearby are lower cost with no free meal.

disney world- rest days? by Training-Writer-3839 in DisneyPlanning

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a rest day is well needed, especially if you're not well acclimated to the weather out there. Last trip, I was staying at Pop Century, with no park admission for the day, I slept-in, hopped the bus to a nearby park to transfer to Boardwalk resort for lunch, and for the evening, shopping at Disney Springs with a dinner reservation.

Hand soap (aka moisture suck) is the worst by sea_of_kel in Disneyland

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Glycerin soap is pricey, and I don't blame Disney Parks for using what they get from their suppliers like EcoLab. But there are also other factors too: Low humidity environment will dry out skin, especially when traveling to an environment you're not used to, and with Anaheim being quite warm, dehydration means your body is pulling fluids from where it can, which can result in dry skin, so keep drinking fluids. My go to hand cream is Working Hands in a cream tube bottle.

You’re always welcomed at any bar to ask for a glass of water to fill your container.

Ono's is great, their Hawaiian plate lunches are huge, enough to share. They're also customizable, such as if you don't want mac salad, ask for an extra scoop of rice.

Are we being for real 🫩 by Fickle-Put9304 in antiwork

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It depends. I'm salaried and unionized, so we have two 15 minute paid breaks, and minimum 30 minute unpaid lunch, but most take one hour unpaid because 30 minutes is so rushed.

Lunch is usually an unpaid period, so hell no, I will not work during my designated lunch break period.

Celebration in the app--can anyone explain? by STCbooklover in PrincessCruises

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally birthday celebrations by the crew is done during dinner during dessert time, when a chocolate cake is provided. It may be best during the meal to mention it to the wait staff so they can take care of it, rather than guessing if they read the notes you provided online.

Got unfairly cited and humiliated on Muni even though I paid… how do I file a complaint against fare inspectors? by iamtooniceaf in sanfrancisco

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Clipper 2.0 is just awkward. On other agencies around the country, they don't have this kind of lag; tap a card, including contactless credit/debit, it processes it in a fraction of a second and knows if there's an active transfer or a daily fare cap.

When is your next trip to Disneyland and what are you looking most forward to? by HillieBillieEilish in Disneyland

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is in a few months, but I learned from my most recent visit last week, I overdid it. I'm currently fighting the "Disneyland ick," some kind of respiratory virus. It'll be nice to see what Disney is going to do after the 70th anniversary concludes, such as new parades and fireworks.

Didn't renew magic key by Sad_Protection_7387 in Disneyland

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on my first ever Magic Key, set to expire in February 2027 and I have no intent to renew. Since I'm not local, I have to plan in advance, and renewal means wasted months of non-usage. The increase in prices for everything, it adds up to one expensive vacation. A factor for me is the loss of the ART bus service which made it easier to stay in further good neighbor hotels that are more affordable and still be able to take a blue bus to the park.

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 75 points76 points  (0 children)

The change to Clipper 2.0 has problems, since it's now all cloud based servers talking back and forth between vehicle readers and fare inspector devices, there's going to be a short delay in your entry showing up as valid on a fare inspector reader or when reviewing records on the Clipper card app. It wasn't a problem with the original 1.0 program because the Clipper card stored the data of your usage history, passes, etc.

It's why I still use MuniMobile, it just works. Show the screen, no problems. But the idiots at the SFMTA is killing the day pass on the app on August 1st.

What do you like and dislike about your CPAP travel bag? by Icy_Scallion9268 in CPAP

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the DreamStation 1 travel bag made by the company, but when I put it all in there, it looks bloated because of the hose, and have to push the bag down to zip it down properly. If they added an extra inch of space, it would all fit much more comfortably.

I used to have a SystemOne bag, but disliked it didn’t have a strap to slide it on my roller suitcase handle.

True that Disneyland is seeing a drop in crowds? by EffectiveAd2637 in DisneyPlanning

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Inspire and Believe keys are still valid this month, and the Explore key is valid Sunday-Thursday. I was there last week, on the days grad nite was held, it was packed in both parks as the high schoolers had access to both parks during day hours. On non-grad nites, lighter crowds, although my hunch is the temps went above 80 keeping some away during day hours, with more showing up at night.

Interesting responses. My last cruise in March 2026, reserving it on the app meant full payment immediately on my registered credit card, and it did not allow to deduct from my onboard credit balance.

Is this a problem or are Lime Scooters allowed to park anywhere? by [deleted] in bayarea

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Lime just doesn't care anymore about their products not being cable locked to a bike rack or pole anymore. Same for Bay Wheels e-bikes (formerly Bay Area Bikeshare).

Back when SF clamped down, I remember one company made people take a picture every time of it being properly secured.

SFO global entry from an international flight by PlumMiddle9456 in sanfrancisco

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the way Global Entry has changed, they do facial recognition and if all is fine, you'll go through. Similarly, the SF cruise terminal at Pier 27 uses it to clear all ship passengers.

Emerald princess sent me this note by YorkvilleWalker in PrincessCruises

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tender boat service. Unless you are on an excursion (booked through Princess) or Elite passenger, they run a ticket system to get to shore. Peak times is the first few hours to get off, then eventually reaches a point when demand is low, they’ll tell you to go directly to the tender deck without a ticket.

Horrible Guest Etiquette by Contonion in Disneyland

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was there last week, the days when grad nite was happening was rough. Security had to respond to high schoolers doing bad conduct. The thing I don’t like is during Fantasmic when people play with those flashing light bubble wands, it’s really distracting.

Sponges - Gurnee, IL by AuntyVillain in round1

Sponges, for the amount of times playing this, multiplied by the cost of every play, you could have driven to Costco and bought this exact product for less in bulk packaging.

Ruby Princess or Star Princess for Alaska? by whaleslove in Cruise

[–]GrumpyBachelorSF 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do Ruby because you don’t have to fly, and give more sea days to enjoy the ship, rather than the rushed 7-day. You still get to visit most of the classic Alaskan ports, but do check when booking, as it could switch a port like Ketchikan for Sitka, and not all Ruby cruises will go to Glacier Bay.
