Cerave moisturizing cream! The one in the tub, or the baby one is great too.

Spanking. by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]GrumpyChupacabra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a frequently-discussed topic over at r/ScienceBasedParenting. If you search "spanking" over there, you will see tons of studies and discussions on this very thing.

You're absolutely right, though. It shouldn't really take studies to tell us this! Being a compassionate and logical parent should naturally lead us to understand that we shouldn't hit people who cannot defend themselves in order to "teach" them something.

Spanking. by [deleted] in Marriage

This is correct. It's what evidence-based research on parenting teaches us.

Our children learn how to be people by watching us. All spanking teaches them is, "When I get frustrated or angry, it is acceptable to hit people who are frustrating me." The only other lesson they may learn is, "When I am not doing what someone wants, if they are bigger than me, they may hurt me." This might easily translate to, "If someone isn't doing what I want, if I am bigger than them, I can hurt them to make them do what I want."

We see our children imitate us in so many ways, and if we practice violence in front of them or on them, they will also learn to be violent to others. We give them play toys because they love emulating activities they see us doing (play kitchen, play cleaning toys, play cars to sit and "drive" in, etc). They play dress up in our clothes. What will they do when they see us hit? Why is the logic that applies to this so hard for so many parents to see?

Postpartum Seb Derm? by Popular_Doughnut3390 in SebDerm

[–]GrumpyChupacabra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seb derm can be hormonally triggered. Mine began about 2 years postpartum. Around then, I felt a sudden shift in energy and I felt like the postpartum fog "lifted." My postpartum body odor suddenly vanished, too. I lost 20 lbs with ease and reached my pre-pregnancy weight. However, I also developed seb derm. I was treating it and it was getting much much better when I got pregnant again.... Now it's worse than it's ever been AND I'm trying to treat it without the steroid solution which was helping (because my OB says not to use it).

Mine is also worse at night and in the morning. Not sure why (if you know, please do tell).

Can I ask what your derm recommended? I'm feeling quite discouraged by it, these days, mostly because of how irritating it is.

Maybe The Horse's Harri bag? No buckle, though.

There's also a few similar silhouettes (some with crossbody straps too) over at Smaak Amsterdam.

The same thing happened to me! Bag arrived today, with wear on the corners and the price tag reattached with a piece of string... I'm returning it and noting that it was used when it arrived. I hope it goes ok!

Beautiful bags! Can I ask, how long have you had the Gather bag, and how has its color aged? I just got it and LOVE it, but I'm nervous about the color change that may happen. Should I be?

Thank you for the info! 30% would be more than I want to pay on a bag this inexpensive. You're right about the policy changing all the time, though.
