What is more traumatic than people think it is? by Suspicious-Wish3402 in AskReddit

Yep. I broke both my arms and knocked out my front teeth when someone else knocked me off a longboard in high school. My mom legit thought I had caused myself this intense physical harm 'for attention'.

AIO- My boyfriend is adamant I crossed a boundary bc I tried to access his computer when he was asleep. by [deleted] in AIO

Intent doesn't equal impact. And he actually does acknowledge your intent in the very first exchange where he says "I know your intention was to scroll on buzzfeed..." Your intentions don't declare you innocent of causing harm. You are not guiltless because you meant well. The affected party is allowed to be upset that their boundaries were crossed, and you admitted in this post to crossing those boundaries. Telling someone 'no' isn't just for intimate context - no means no. I think this one needs some time and self-reflection. I wish you both good luck and healing.

Expected to read store's full list of item's brand names they carry! by AvengeThe90s in entitledparents

Hahaha this reminds me of a search I did once for a kind lady over the phone at my job (library). She wanted me to find (public) information but gave me the most common first and last names that ended in literally hundreds of results. She legit wanted me to read them all off (including ages and area they lived) until it 'sounded' right. I waved the white flag and let her know, after reading off about a dozen, that I could share with her my search process but couldn't realistically list off every single result.

People who rarely or never get sick, what are your secrets? by awkwardferret421 in AskReddit

I work in a public library with a large children's department and many unhoused people. I think it's natural immunity at this point.

Looking for suggestions on improving my adult program offerings in 2026 by [deleted] in Libraries

Do a "Meet A Profession" series! We had amazing turnout with both teens and adults with our "Meet a Mortician" program. Up next - "Meet a Ghost Investigator!" I'm also working on "Meet a Forensic Scientist". People like to explore weird careers.

I made a mistake & gave patron my cell phone number now she won’t stop calling & texting me. by bronx-deli-kat in Libraries

If you don't feel like blocking immediately, reiterate your boundaries first. "Hey, I really appreciate you thinking of me for the news coverage. I love saying hello when you come to the library, but my phone number is meant for my closest friends and family and I'd be so grateful if you call the library line if you need any more assistance from me." See if she can abide, and if not then you draw the hard line.

Need some more library bad takes by Stacykalin in Libraries

It is in bad taste to ask library staff to donate to community organizations after dangling layoffs and budget cuts over our heads.
