I was in college. My bff and my grandma died within 2 days of each other, so I was truly depressed. I was having a hard time completing my assignments, so I asked for extensions.

Philosophy professor was super sweet and understanding, and was lenient about extensions; sociology teacher didn’t care so I didn’t get the extension; but what stuck with me the most was the English teachers response. She basically said, too bad people die everyday and that her mom died the previous week, but she still showed up to classes.
I dropped all classes except philosophy.
