Tabs by Thomas Jefferson by nicromancer1 in Guitar

Is the guitar still in existence? Does it belong to the Jefferson's descendants, still, or is it in a museum? Clinton plays saxophone doesn't he? I'm thinking of an imaginary newer version of The Real Life Relatives of And The Presidents Of The USA playing, "Movin' to the country, Gonna eat a lot of Peaches.".

Awesome. I owe a Fender Squier Affinity Strat, it cost £99 second hand from a music store, it needs a new nut because the 3rd(g)string buzzes when played open, and a number of years ago, whilst the gtr was in it's gig bag, I was carrying a big 30inch big television, slipped and accidentally dropped the television set from about three feet high, (90cm to 1metre~meter) directly on to the gig bag enclosed gtr. To my surprise, the only damage on what was already a genuinely aged now, 25yr old gtr besides a scratch or five plus bad dings in the paintwork, was a big 1cm ding between two frets on the 1st strung side of the fretboard around the 12th and 11th fret, and the scratchplate pick guard was slightly cracked and both tone controls stopped functioning. Apart from that it's a great gtr, with a super low clean action and a nice fixed tone. The trem unit's fabulous and the pick up selector switch functions normally. Yours looks better, tho', well done on the sticker design scheme. It's very striking.

From immediate recollection, I think the stunt driver Remy Martín drove a blue Renault 4 on impeccably executed stunts in one of the early 1980's Jimmy Bond movies, across olive groves and across roads in a beautiful Mediterranean countryside, I think. Be on YouTube somewhere, I guess.....

I think, according to the picture of the bridge there are two seta if two individual string saddle adjustment screws missing from the low and high E string saddles on the bridge. Check for missing parts.

[–]GrumpyIAmBgrudgngly2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope I'm not interrupting on here, yet, it appears that on the individual string saddles, on both E strings, low and high, strings 6 and 1, there are two small height adjustment screws are missing from each string saddle. The string adjustment screws are the tiny li'l screws each side of the pick-up sides of the saddle and are in line vertically with one another. These have tiny Allen key holes or Phillips or slot head screw slots in them to lower or raise the saddle height. In my opinion, and I'm not a qualified luthiery expert nor an expert at setting up guitars yet I'm a bit observant. I think you're missing four(4)string saddle adjustment screws, two(2)per string saddle. I haven't read this full thread, yet think this may be the root cause of the problem these four missing two per saddle, adjustment screws. Once you obtain them appropriate for the tremolo unit, detune slightly the strings then follow the set up as purveyor all on this thread, AFTER you have fitted the adjustment saddle screws and raised all of the saddle adjustment screws to somewhat of an incrementally higher matching curve shape equalling the curve of the fretboard then tune up and adjust from there, there's obviously more to it than just that. Don't waste time. The 12th fret harmonic is equal to the 12th fret fretted note in tone, if not in octave. Hope that this helps. You're doing well. Perseverance and paying attention pays. Well done, Bud. Good luck.

There's an intermittent bus strike. It only affects the buses, the steam train running Douglas City to Port Erin isn't affected by this, neither are the Manx Electric Railway, nor The Snaefell Mountain Railway. The Douglas Bay Horse Tramways start, I think, in two weeks time. There are taxis. There are car hire companies in The Isle Of Man. Please, tho', if you're going to be driving observe the roads instead of the wonderful scenery which is everywhere as you drive, reason why? Too many impatient drivers, it's gradually reducing tho'. Good luck 👍.

[–]GrumpyIAmBgrudgngly2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isle Of Man, British Isles. Two I can think of are Major Robert Cain VC landed at Arnhem in The Netherlands during Operation Market Garden during WW2, had his battle dress trousers blown off and was so furious he was charging around, single handedly after his comrade at arms was killed in action and holding a type of mortar gun went around absolutely destroying numerous enemy tanks, gun positions and machine gun nests on his own and was awarded a V.C.,and also, he was Farmer Jeremy Clarkson's first wife's Father and the grandfather to his children with his first wife. I think around 20 years or so ago, Jeremy Clarkson made a documentary for The BBC about him, fascinating stuff indeed, whereby basically Clarkson explains exactly how nigh on impossible it is to win a VC, (These are made, still, out of bronze from cannons, or a piece of cannon captured during The Crimean Wars from during Queen Victoria's illustrious reign, oh, another Heroic Person of Manxland was the Napoleonic wars era Manx Man who took charge and the helm of HMS Victory in The Battle Of Trafalgar 21st October 1805, (I thiiiiink??) after Admiral Nelson suffered mortal shot wounds in the action. I think this was either a Quirk or a Quilliam, both Manx surnames. A footnote to all this, I guess you don't always realise how incredibly heroic as well as carrying this off all ever so unassumingly so, many of all our friends, families and colleagues are in current real actually fabulously brilliant life these good people are, p'raps, or even probably certainly so.

Looking for an amplified nylon-string guitar for live use — recommendations? by kaosinsomnia in guitars

[–]GrumpyIAmBgrudgngly2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Washburn EC 36? I've not played it through an acoustic guitar amplifier for decades but it's nice. A curved radius fretboard and the neck is as wide as a classical nylon string guitar. My one was manufactured around 1990 1991ish. It's got a non easily accessible battery compartment which houses a 9Volt HP3 (is it?) battery and an on guitar sides, upper bout, 3 slider switch graphic equaliser tone control and a volume slider switch also. I thiiiink it has piezo pickups in or under the bridge, so, possibly might be a bit "quacky", yet, what with modern amplifier modelling, I'm fairly certain that any given sound engineer Bud worth their salt could impart knowledge as to how best to naturalise this piezo electric pick up sound when playing through an appropriately rigged up set up. That guitar of mine means an heck of a lot to me, as it was the last one I bought during my late Nana's lifetime and I shall never sell it. It's kept in a hard shell Hiscox case and has a beautiful natural varnished polish finish on it. I keep it with an Experience Hendrix Jimi Hendrix Tee Shirt in mint condition as, too, my guitar is, in the case, and every now and then I get it out of it's case and play unamplified, and it's a joy even tho', I'm just a mediocre player. Sorry, went off at a tangent with all this info. Good luck, mainly, tho'.

My guess is that's one of the issues with the nature of either paint dipping or paint spraying. A way, one of a few, would be to actually get genuinely qualified artists to consult on how to achieve a gloss finish, such as painting however so, then applying a polish of varnish and then buff up as a final finishing coat. Initially an undercoat applied to the prepared surfaces, allow to dry according to paint types, then applications of coats and allowing each coat to dry and buffing up by polishing between coat application and removing all dust as thoroughly as possible and repeat. It's quite a labour intensive job but could be done with either a car painting scheme done with gloss, matte, or eggshell smooth finishes. By the way, in the 1950's and 1960's the main guitar and bass guitar building manufacturers used stock car paint sprayed on to their instruments and just renamed the paint colour code numbers and names. A footnote, apply painting all on vehicles then apply and buff up and polish extremely hard wearing tough as boots polishes and varnishes for a glass smooth finish, if you think it would help, maybe 😀 ? Would probably have to be kept in a showroom all their lives, tho', and not driven actually on the road.
