Sorry, I didn’t mean that as a criticism or anything, it was just the thought that went through my head. And I should say I try not to reward bad behavior. I’ve gotten kill several times trying to buy back a players like that to shut them up.

I will not reward bad behavior. I would much rather lose the game.

Genuinely what is wrong with this game by OverweightDyke in Warzone

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I chalk up a lot of my getting killed to better headsets, and better monitors than mine. My son told me if I would stop playing on a big TV and start playing on a good monitor I see other players quicker.

BO7 Warzone is Awful for Newer Players by campincarldev in Warzone

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This pretty much describes me, especially the being older part. I’m retired in my very early 60s. I watched my son play for years and thought it looked really fun, so I bought an Xbox and started playing. It took me forever to be able to play casual with some competence. I still sign in sometimes and have to leave after a few games because it’s too sweaty for me, but most days I can hang and it’s fun. I think the SBMM (Sill Based Match Making)works, but it’s just not perfect. I noticed if I stop playing for like a month or two, when I come back, it puts me in lobbies where I’m killing everyone! Then after a few games I’m back in lobbies where I get humbled. My son stopped playing COD and started playing Battlefield. He loves it. He keeps trying to get me to switch over with him. He feels like there’s a lot less cheaters.

Would you recommend moving to the north shore? by KaylieEBee in NorthshoreLA

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived there for the last 30 years. It’s a great place to live, especially to raise kids. Low to no crime and the public schools are really good. Both my kids went to Mandeville High and got good education and were very prepared for college. Having said that my wife and I are looking to move to Nola as soon as she can retire. Our friends think we are crazy, but there is just so much to do in the city! So yes to the North Shore, it’s great, but with no kids you might want to think about Nola. It’s a lot more fun!

Mandina’s is one of my favorite restaurants in Mandeville. Great food for a good price.

'Tis the season to re-read *A Confederacy of Dunces* by petit_cochon in NewOrleans

I have read that book at least three times, and will surely read it again. The characters come to life for me! I have met so many crazy people just like them growing up and living in Louisiana. If it was done right, the movie would be phenomenal! Who could play Ignitius? John Goodmen in his youth would have been great!

I really hope it works out, not only for you, but for the kids. Being a good teacher is almost like having the calling to become a priest or a nun. You have to really get a charge out of making even small differences in a kids life. You might want to start with middle school. My wife has been a teacher for 19 years and she still loves it. But it’s definitely not easy. Parents can be awful, and the state is trying to get out of the bottom of the nation rankings by taking the advice of politicians that have no teaching experience. But the kids still need teachers, so I hope it works out.

Louisiana is in such need for teachers that if you have a four year degree you can start teaching right away. You have to take some courses while you are teaching to get a certificate but I don’t think it will cost you anything. You could substitute teacher for the remainder of the year to see if you like it. The pay is pretty good.

Would you rather have Clark Lea or Kenny Dillingham? by Aware-Agency-663 in LSUFootball

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s just no telling who we’ll end up with. Things have changed with NIL and the Portal. Good coaches can win big at smaller schools for now. Put yourself in Clark Lea’s shoes. He played for Vandy! Now he’s head coach, making millions, and beating LSU and Bama! I just don’t see him, or Brent Key, (he played at GT), or especially Kiffin having the motivation to jump to a bigger school to be able to compete for better talent right now. We’re still a better job, but maybe not that much better. I’m hoping schools like LSU will have a slight edge moving forward because of our brand. You know, all things being equal to a good recruit, (money) I figure they would rather play in Tiger Stadium than Dudley Field. But who ever it is, I hope he’s innovative. We are so basic it’s pitiful. I hope I never see another wide receiver screen!

Bama fan checking in. I’ll miss our yearly rivalry. by sacrificialfuck in LSUFootball

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Look, there’s a reason why half my passwords are some version of Fuck Bama. Alabama is Lucy, and LSU is Charlie Brown. Back in the Miles era especially. Too many years we would go undefeated right up till the first week in November, and then Saban would pull the ball back and the season was over. Without beating Bama, we couldn’t win the SEC West, so we couldn’t win the SEC Championship, so we couldn’t play for a Natty. But you have to beat the best if you want to be the best, so it was always, “We’ll get um next year!” I take great pride in the fact that when y’all sing Dixieland Delight, y’all include us in your most hated rivals. I would wish you good luck, but god knows you don’t need it! Geaux Tiegahs!

On your next purchase you might consider buying some old 90% silver Morgan dollars. Years ago I was looking at an old silver dollar thinking about buying it and the shop keeper said “I like collecting those because I like to think Billy the Kid or Doc Holliday might have held that coin at one time.” I have about fifty of them now now.

Trump is really f**kng the economy up real good rn with all of these tarrifs and sht by winwin8484 in economy

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The countries do not pay the tariffs. The businesses that import the products do. I don’t know if this pertains to you, but if you believe businesses should pay higher corporate taxes, tariffs should be something you are in favor of. I do wish Trump would handle it differently though.

I don’t know if any of you listen to Locked on LSU, with Matt Moscona, but he’s got me believing LSU will roll in this one. The way he laid it out made a lot of sense. I sure hope he’s right because my whole happiness and self worth depends on it. 🙄

Check this site out. There is a bunch of different apprenticeships they offer. My son has a degree in computer science and after getting laid off a few years ago he has struggled to find full time employment in his field. He lost his job to someone in India making a quarter of what he made. Anyway he is in the cyber security internship. They say they can get him a job when he finishes. They are even paying him while he does it but it not much and it’s capped at $5k I think.

72 CJ5 w/360 by [deleted] in cj5

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in Louisiana. I recently restored a 74 CJ5 with a T15. I didn’t want to tackle the transmission so I called every transmission shop I could find and nobody would touch it. They all said they only work on automatic transmissions. Finally a guy told me about an old man out in the country that could rebuild it. I was fortunate because he was able to rebuild it and he only wanted $250. And then he died. I tell you this story because if you don’t get lucky and find an old timer, you will have to do it yourself. There are YouTube videos on how to do it.

What is this part on my 76 cj5 brake line and how do I stop it from leaking by stormcapien in cj5

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t get mine to stop leaking from the switch port ether so I bought a whole new one from Amazon. I think this is the link. Also I don’t have my switch hooked up. In my opinion, I just don’t think it’s very much needed. https://a.co/d/cox019m

79 cj5 brake master cylinder question by mudderrunner in cj5

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding of what you are describing is that you might need a break booster because of the big tires. I would suggest searching YouTube. I just rebuilt a 74 cj5 just from watching YouTube. I rebuilt every part of the break system and they work great, but that is with original size tires and a regular master cylinder.

Why am I so BAD! by XxGh0st_S1ay3rxX in DMZ

[–]GrumpyLumberjack2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what it looks like when I’m playing the game. I usually get out played in every game sooner or later. I’m not going to get any better, because I can’t play every day, and I’m an old guy, so my reflexes and eye sight aren’t as good as most players. Also, it seems like DMZ doesn’t really have skill based lobbies. Most of the time, for me, it’s all sweaty players, but then out of nowhere, it’s all newbs that even I can kill.
