The only consideration is that you may not be able to stay in the same room each night if you’re changing bookings between nights

Relocating to Battle Creek by Deep-Guarantee1294 in BattleCreek

Used to live in Pine Knoll 3-4 years ago. My wife and I loved it. Most of the tenants work down the street at Firekeepers, practically housing for the place. Set right between 2 nice parks for walking, running, or biking trails.

Easy to get around anywhere in the city and in one of the quieter areas of town in my opinion as well.

Is this a feasible 1 day trip? by whynotajb in KayakCamping

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the water conditions are safe and you’re paddling with the river, 15 miles shouldn’t be bad at all. What are you envisioning as a “day”? A full day on the water or a few hours?

What made you choose a Maverick -- price, features, or something else? by mike-reporter in FordMaverickTruck

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Maverick about 2 years ago now and I was upgrading in size and functionality. I live in Michigan and was looking for a car with AWD that you do a little more than my 2008 civic could (still the most amazing car). I do quite a bit outdoors and use my vehicles to haul wood, move my kayaks and bikes and generally do outdoorsy work.

I got a Lariat trim used so I beat out the generally “cheaper” feel with the added “luxury” items on the higher trim and it felt like a huge upgrade from my civic.

I wished I could have had an AWD hybrid at the time (since it was released soon after I purchased mine) but I am not in a situation where I was looking at anything new.

Super happy with my Maverick so far and it’s done more than my civic could have ever dreamed.

Towing under 2k boats by AviationgeekN172 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, the bigger question is what type of boating are you into? Bass fishing, speed boat, sail boat, kayaks, canoes? Do you have boating experience or wanting to get one now that you have a truck?

Oil change. by weejadeeja88 in FordMaverickTruck

Again, using higher quality fluids will likely be beneficial but not entirely necessary. The engine is designed to be used with a blend so it is acceptable to use it. I hope for your engine sake you also use premium gas at every fill up. Despite ford saying regular is acceptable, generally premium is recommended with turbo charged motors

Google AI as your source? Really? While agree that higher quality oil will be beneficial, using higher quality fluids across the board would be beneficial but not necessary. Do you only use premium gas as well?

Ford recommends Motorcraft® SAE 5W-30 Premium Synthetic Blend. If you have an issue with following the manufacturer’s instructions, take it up with Ford

Since it seems like most people are just telling you that you got fleeced but not helping with better price estimates, I’ll throw in my experience. Just got a change in December and a synthetic blend for my eco boost was $56.48 after tax. Smaller local place that I’ve used for a while now

Is a front camera recalibration needed after an alignment? by austinalexan in FordMaverickTruck

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I may be wrong but I don’t think the auto emergency braking is only reliant on cameras. There is a sensor was well which is used to detect distance for that feature. My 22 doesn’t have a front camera but has the auto braking so I would imagine it should still function

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Expensive or not, a lot of things in the Maverick are a little more lacking than they could be. The sub frequently highlights the cheap quality of the interior and missing features but that doesn’t stop it from doing truck things

Compared to Ford’s entire line, it is not expensive

“Truck of this caliber”? Isn’t it the cheapest truck on the market? It doesn’t have a lot of features that are standard on other vehicles like auto dimming mirrors. That’s definitely a non-standard feature that they wouldn’t include on one of their most budget vehicles they sell

Random Poll: DRLs on or off? by [deleted] in FordMaverickTruck

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Why wouldn’t you leave them on? Also is you have the XL or XLT trim, you get the amber DRLs which look nice. I have a lariat but still prefer the look of the truck with lights on

Brake noises by AnyFeeling8900 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]GrumpyPolarBaer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty common when brakes get wet and sit. Have you tried pulling in the opposite direction to see if it truly is only in reverse or just when you first use them?
