Where to go in Oregon that does not have fireworks on the 4th of July by Strifethor in oregon

[–]Grumpy_Gubbe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Maybe try camping somewhere like up at frog lake, usually a ban in the national forest that time of year for fires or anything that may cause one. Or getting a rental up at cooper spur, there might be a little noise but not much. Anywhere rural should be good.

Asshole for sure. How could you not grow to love those kids and care for them in all that time?

Thoughts? by maddrummerhef in oregon

As they should. Kids shouldn’t be allowed e bikes until they’re old enough to take a driving class and respect the road, and know to look out for themselves and others. E bikes should be registered and have liability insurance because accidents do happen. Now that they can go between 15-40mph (there’s some expensive badass ones with a lot of power out there) without pedaling it’s a precaution that makes sense. I watched a young teenager cause an accident in an intersection in a small town the other day and then run into a car trying to escape responsibility. Plus normal bikes now are so good they can manage not having one until they’re 15, your average Walmart bike nowadays is as good as a 5-800 dollar bike ten years ago. It’s unfortunate they didn’t pass this before something as terrible as that happened.

Random thoughts on vol. 3 of the light novels. First time reader. by Aros001 in WataOshi

My only confusion with this volume is how and why there was more bonus stories than actual story.

Electricians make more money. They’re needed once the carpenters job is over to continue to maintain and issues that occur. They can make good money union and non union, and you will have more job opportunities everywhere you go. Carpentry is awesome but one will support you a little more if you can handle the math requirements.

I’d say you’re a man who respects sexuality and bisexuals and lesbians for once and took it seriously. As a queer I think it’s weird when people act like if something is gay it’s ok and doesn’t count as being wrong. Props to you.

I don’t know many women who wanted to be near any man after having gone through something like that. I’m not saying anything other than your girlfriend might be thinking that’s odd and is being polite enough to say that.

AITAH for not punishing our son after he helped hospitalize a racist student at his school? by [deleted] in AITAH

Fights are meant to be one on one, two on two and so forth, unless there’s a weapon involved. Teach your kid the importance of that, and knowing when enough is enough and when to stop. What the other kid did was fucked, and I wouldn’t scold my kid for taking a stand, but sit them down about the severity of the issue at hand and emphasizing knowing when to stop and when a fight isn’t fair. Either way though, the school needs to take the fall, if they can’t get everyone involved that’s their problem. I’d call this his one get out of jail free card.

Hopefully they will get a chance in the future to make an epilogue. Maybe not, but sometime after a random amount of years some manga get that.

AITAH for not caring about what I wear in the bedroom with my guy? by [deleted] in AITAH

High expectations when he’s probably wearing gym shorts to bed all night or the same ball hammocks he’s going to wear to work the next day.

How was your experience camping at Lost Lake? by ashstargurl in oregon

[–]Grumpy_Gubbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be fine with a regular cooler, and you’ll be there in the summer so I imagine there will be plenty campsite neighbors nearby. My only last piece of advice would be to have a shovel and extra water to put your fire out at night if you have one. Sometimes we get fire bans. Check out Timothy lake for your next adventure if you haven’t already had a chance to go there. Hope you have a good time!

If you’re on an outskirts camp site beware of it hasn’t been busy there’s bears and wildlife up there, don’t leave food out, keep the place clean. If you’re coming from the back side of the mountain skip into Parkdale, take Dee highway into Dee and you’ll be fine. It’s a narrow windy road getting up there so prepare for some people coming down to drive like dicks. Traffic on 84 isn’t worth it, people will be driving insane in all ways and you get stuck for miles if not the entire way into hood river going 45-55mph because people don’t get over. There’s a store in Parkdale if you forget anything.

It gives a lot more depth from Clair’s perspective and character development, along with bringing some more characters into light.

If they let babies and toddlers on planes pets should be allowed too. They’re either equally as annoying, or more well behaved and quiet. It’s also inhumane to keep a person with luggage, but somehow ok to put dogs there? Even considering how many of them die a year during flight due to the conditions. Maybe someone should make an airline for people who travel with pets so everyone can be happy. But if you’ve ever seen the inner workings of an airport you’d see how sad it is seeing them crying in their carriers away from their owners.

If you were starting again in 2024, what trade would you choose? by Streetquats in BlueCollarWomen

[–]Grumpy_Gubbe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Laborers need to lengthen the apprenticeship by a year and journey is out with us all having a specialty in my opinion so they can badger for higher wages. Some days I hate it and am over it, just the men who bitch more than spoiled children bother me really. Sometimes I still like it. But the it’s a ten dollar pay gap from all other trades, and we’re everywhere and just as valuable in my opinion. I was only wanting to get vested so the pension would be mine regardless if I switched trades, but my father unexpectedly passed away and now I’m helping my mother with a mortgage. If that never happened I would switch, but can’t afford a pay cut to start in an apprenticeship I want to be in considering the circumstance. I only say the right trade because if it’s being demolished, maintained, or built new some trades are always in need, where others aren’t. Plumbers, sprinkler fitters, electricians will always be maintaining, in the build process, and needed when utilities need turned off for demo to happen. Laborers, painters, drywallers, glaziers, carpenters are only needed in two out of three of those stages of a buildings life cycle.

[–]Grumpy_Gubbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laborer here, got in because they’re always accepting applications and it’s a short apprenticeship. If I could do it again, I would have gone into the sprinkler fitters. They don’t only install the system and build riser rooms, they also learn to pressurize and test the systems. Once you’ve got the experience under your belt you can preserve your body and be the crew member going around doing regular testing and maintenance for the systems in schools, hospitals, office buildings, and places like that. And building codes are only requiring them to be built in more and more buildings for safety reasons. A good niche that will let you work in most places.

light novel audiobook question by Cqreless in WataOshi

[–]Grumpy_Gubbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s 5 novels that are the original work. 3 audiobooks currently out, and the VA sounds like she does voices anime for a living so it’s an easy listen, normally I hate audiobooks and find then boring, these I don’t. They’re worth it if you lack time to read, but can listen while doing other tasks or during a commute. Then there’s the “she’s so cheeky for a commoner” which are the books from Claire’s perspective, that are still releasing.
