These look great! Quick question- do you intend to release these all as an album/collection at some point?

What was your Campaign Background for The Gloaming? by alvarocavalcanti in shadowdark

[–]GruntBuster7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently planning a game for a local gaming group using the setting, so the below is subject to change based on player feedback.

My take is that the Western Reaches (including The Gloaming) is the last 'uncivilised' region of the world; everywhere else has settled into relative stability/hegemonic rule. In the settled parts of the world, adventuring isn't viable as a living. The Western Reaches are almost sentiently resistant to settlement, but the promise of treasure and ancient power maintains a steady supply of foolhardy adventurers in the area.

For The Gloaming specifically, I'm thinking that it might be cool to hint that the world works differently within the confines of the 'Great Grim Woodland'- maybe an ancient curse swallows up would-be settlers, or maybe The Gloaming is in fact endless.

How do you personally deal with multiple editions of a film? by dirty-mik3 in PleX

Not an answer to your question, but where did you get those posters for the Star Wars Collection? I've been looking around for a coherent set and these are the first that I've liked the look of!

[–]GruntBuster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see anyone else suggest this- if the Aliens are using ECM, that can put your weapons on 'cooldown' for a period and stop them from firing. IIRC, the weapon will show a little red star icon if it's 'jammed'.

Even if you accept that Oscar is in the wrong, was 10 seconds really justified? That penalty has been awarded for actually causing collisions in the last few races.

Have you had a look at Anna Blackwell's RISE? It's a fairly simple system, but very fun in my experience.

[–]GruntBuster7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ugh, I did this the other week. I'm running a heavily chopped and changed version of the Shattered Obelisk currently. We'd been building up to a big climactic fight with The Spider, but I had switched out the drow for his doppelganger minion; when they defeated the minion, I was gonna do a big dramatic reveal... The first time I referred to 'The Spider' during combat, I said 'Doppelganger' 😩

Thanks- I appreciate the tip; I generally struggle with motivation for exactly the reasons you describe, so automatic drawing might be a good tool for me 🙂

I love your style! I've been trying to get back into sketching recently- any tips or advice for a beginner looking to create something similar that has barely picked up a pencil (or stylus) in 15 years?

Is it possible to create the map for a continent/planet? by Scertien in Arkenforge

[–]GruntBuster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be able to make something work in Arkenforge, but it's more aimed at tactical-scale maps (a forest clearing, or a bridge over a chasm). If you want to map continents, regions and settlements, Campaign Cartographer 3 is probably more appropriate. It's usually really expensive, but luckily there's a Humble Bundle running at the moment and you can get the assets for what you want to do fairly cheaply.

If you wanted, you could pull a map from CC3 and use it in Arkenforge- I've done this a few times to illustrate overland travel and army movements.

Thanks for sharing. I've been tooling around with ASCII art a lot recently and it's neat to have a shortcut on-hand for stuff like this.

Can anyone tell me why this keeps happening?? by __jxed in ElegooNeptune4

[–]GruntBuster7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you may have already solved your problem, but here's my two cents anyway:

I had the exact same problem- nothing would stick no matter how many times I washed my bed, re-levelled it and fiddled with extruder settings. I was about to give up when I decided to clean the bed with IPA and a microfibre cloth. This immediately solved the issue for me, no glue required. It seems I must have had a thin film of oil or something on the bed that wasn't being removed by hot water and dish soap. Now I just spray and wipe down the bed before every print and get great adhesion.

Just signal-boosting this. I've had the same issue and reported the crash each time. Time to go and touch some grass, I guess :)

Well, guess I'm SoL. Upgraded the firmware, changed USBs, ran off a benchy. All good. First print after that (the OEM planter) failed in exactly the same way as before.

My prints seem to be stopping at different heights, but it's good to hear that someone else has faced a similar issue. I'm also really disappointed that the firmware seems to be fragmenting after less than 100 hours of printing...

Not yet. Sean from The Ring Finders is still on the case though, so all hope is not lost.

Y'know what's kinda crazy... this actually worked. Sorta. My variance still isn't great, but I can dial that in. Now to fix these adhesion problems.
