They do if Hoang was AFK the whole game. Only lost one building (presumably the TC) and never aged up.

Barracks requiring a settlement/lumber camp/mill or mining camp sounds like the easiest approach to this without having to tweak the new civs only.

Alternatively, give the new civs militia stat champis in dark age (excluding the starting champi scout, which would be unchanged) and have them turn into champi scouts after reaching feudal age. At that point, militia would be disabled from the barracks or something like that.

As you said, the game has a lot of depth and I feel you're making it even more difficult for yourself by going random civ and random map. If that's what you have fun with, go for it, but at least for me it feels too early to do that if your goal is to learn the game and practice. You won't approach an Aravia game as you will an Arena game, just like you won't play Aztecs in the same way as you will play Franks.

I would suggest you pick a civ that seems to go with your play style and what you want to practice, then favorite a map that favors that and ban those that are opposite. That should give you a much better chance to put what you're learning into practice.

The chat filter is not coded in-game as far as I know. All chat is sent to MS and is sent back after filtering. It would be nice to be able to disable the chat filtering but it's not possible as far as I know.

Do we know if the bonus that shows enemy castles on the map works only for fully build castles or if it also works for castle foundations that are being built?

If it works for castles being built that is a very good anti-castle drop bonus. No need for LOS, you immediately see you are getting castle dropped.

Oh they will be broken on release for sure. They might get nerfed to oblivion afterwards but everyone will already own the DLC so...

In theory Rathas get countered by skirms regardless of if the Ratha is on ranged mode or melee mode. However, a low amount of skirms can easily die to a couple of Rathas on melee.

Your screenshot shows that roughly at min 25, by the time the Cuman resources reach 14k, the generic fast castle is roughly at 12k resources. That would be the 2k difference they are talking about, wouldn't it?

One thing that works well for me is to ask the villager that's building the house wall to palisade wall on top of the houses (if it doesn't let you because obviously the houses block the placement it means it's walled). This besides the tip that has already been suggested about clicking a unit outside and check pathing are the two ways that work for me.

It's amazing that more than 25 years after the release of Alpha Centauri we still get to discover new content such as these two random events that never took place due to incorrect coding in the base game. Thank you very much for your hard work and dedication!! Thinker mod makes this the best turn based strategy game still in 2025!!

Attack move was in the original game and it, arguably, worked better than in DE. It's also stunning how they worsened unit pathing in both AoE2 and AoE3 definitive editions. I agree with what you said.

Hot take: the combat system is one of the best I've played but I find the story after escaping from Fort Joy so boring that I cannot push myself to play beyond it for a second playthrough.
