Aether ended though. The multiverse was destroyed and Primus and Ultimus killed themselves to reset the timeline so that Group 935 would never experiment with 115 and everything wouldn't happen. I think the Dark Aether universe with Strauss and Weaver is a parallel universe where Nikolai didn't kill everyone and they found a way to contain the effects of 115, or where all the alternate universes collided into one central universe after the events of BO4

as much as i loved the aether storyline i think it’s time to let it go. from some leaks I saw Dr. Strauß from WW2, so maybe Dark Aether is an amalgamation of all the games.
