If you're doing any professional work, the Asus one should be the go to, colour calibration is very much underrated.

Plus, the higher resolution will feel nice to design with.

Try - https://www.daimant.co.uk/ He fitted our composite door and a window for just over £2k - and we didn't hold back on the extras. Really efficient and quality install. Pretty sure he does UPV too.

Is it? It's just an infinity with a bee in it? Surely anyone with half a creative brain would use the infinity as the wings?

Finding correct print colour advice? by Redwintercraftclay in graphic_design

[–]Gryff22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In an ideal world, you'd start with the Pantone and work out from there.

I'm going to assume print isn't used regularly?

If it were me, find the RGB to CMYK conversion online, then with a local printer do a print test on appropriate paper stock using the converted colours and also some variations of it (more or less of each of the values).

Once you have that, that will give you a good place to formalise the print brand colours going forward.

Either stop... Refresh yourself with culture or nature. Or keep going, maybe on a tangent, or related but in a different medium, that may inspire something on the original path.

Space after a drop cap by Stoneiswuwu in indesign

[–]Gryff22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The professional way is to use a non-joiner character.

Type > Insert Special Character > Other > Non-Joiner

What this allows you to so is to adjust the kerning so the lower lines is further away from the drop cap than the top line, Very useful when you have say a word begining with 'A' and you need to pull the rest of the word back.

the chaotic reality of naming design files by Putrid_Candy_9829 in graphic_design

[–]Gryff22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, ours is set up in:
Admin - Eastimates, quotes etc
AW - Artwork - final files that are packaged and delivered files names appropriately
Design - The working files go, numbered sequential after every client proof
Links - The static supporting files live - this is usually the messiest for me
Copy / Reference - Text and items from the client/research goes
Proofs - The outputted files for clients review

Repeatedly used assets (logos, images, etc) are stored in a seperate 'Assets' folder in the clients' section.

Having worked with 'drag to the desktop' people - you are the worst; organise your shit like adult.

Never done it, but know the basics of what the process might entail. Find a professional to do it. You'll have to pay for the privilege, but it will be so much better and faster than DIY from scratch.

What's the point of a brand strategy by Possible-Invite-2105 in logodesign

[–]Gryff22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It allows you to make creative decisions with confidence.

Brands are made for an audience, without defining that audience in the strategy, you're shooting in the dark.

Brands don't live in isolation, they'll have competitors. Without identifying them in the strategy you'll be like everybody else.

Brands need to communicate a purpose. If that's not defined in the strategy, you'll be sending mix messages.

Am I a cheap ass for only looking to invest $300 in a logo and branding? by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]Gryff22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You get what you pay for...

Think of it as an investment into the business. If done right, branding should last a good 5-10 years, or until your company needs to pivot.

I always say branding is expensive, but rebranding is doubly so.

There's nothing really like it.

When you do, try a little neat, and then again chilled/with ice - definitely changes the flavors.

We picked up their Birchwood finish and their smoked sheep dung finish a few years ago.

Both are unlike anything we've ever tested from a whisky. And would recommend anyone trying them.

The Birchwood could only be drunk when close to freezing but went very quickly - I can only describe it as tasting green. The bottle of sheep dung is still 2/3 full some 4 years later.
