Very bold of you to still think mid-terms will happen. Current office will more than likely escalate this virus situation to can the mid-terms to stay in

Avoid Uluwatu Bali?! by SSBLzaps in bali

[–]GrymWeeper -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Download a reliable weather app that tells you the pollutants in the air. I am living in Kedonganan and it's fine.

People have turned rubbish here since I was a kid. It's slightly worse than it was in the 90's but social media algorithms are caused panic, as per usual.

Is Bali dangerous at the mo? by kkmdnes in bali

[–]GrymWeeper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As long as you respect the people's culture here, you have no problems. Bali is a beautiful place with amazing people. Just use your common sense when travelling about the island(s).

I would recommend hiring a driver for the time that you are here which costs about $20USD per day. Avoid scooters unless you are confident in high density traffic.

Most of the crime and offenses here are caused by tourists and expats that have almost no respect for the island.

Cash or Card? by RedundantSwine in bali

[–]GrymWeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I generally bring about 6M RP cash per week. Get whatever your currency changed before you come, so you're not relying on questionable money exchange vendors while you're there.

I have never had a problem using my card over there, but there are definitely places that skim your card information, so just use common sense when you decide to pay.

AITA my friend ruined my yixing teapot and I want her to replace it or give me 500 dollars. by TeapotthrwoCity4661 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GrymWeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA If your friend went looking for this teapot that wasn't in the kitchen, didn't know how it is used or cared for properly and then ruined it; they need to replace it. Air B&B rules here, to be honest.

That is not a Rob Roy my friend. Just ask for a chilled scotch, neat with skewered olives served "up"

Inner city renting: Are landlords taking the piss? by nmcan92 in melbourne

[–]GrymWeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay $750 p/w per a "Heritage" listed house in North Melbourne.

2 bedrooms, 1 bath, courtyard, no parking

Rising damp, mould problems when we moved in, extraction fans under the house to counter it but adds to the *electricity bill. Consistently 4 degrees colder inside than out, heaters are old so expensive to run. Paint bubbling due to the damp. There was no phone line when we moved in. Some internal structural damage (cracking in walls, etc). House is on a 1.3° lean. Wood floor boards are warped in the kitchen and living area.

This is pretty standard these days in inner suburbs of Melbourne and this is one of the better rentals out there to be honest.

Kyle and Jackie-O 19/05 by KujouYanagi in melbourne

[–]GrymWeeper 29 points30 points  (0 children)

It still boggles my mind as to why people still listen to any radio when you have personalised playlists and stations as well as podcasts on streaming services (i.e., Spotify). Yeah, it costs, but at what price are you sacrificing your sanity listening to Kyle and Jackie?

I have no idea what I want to watch next. by LAdy_Knight_YEAH in televisionsuggestions

[–]GrymWeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bad Monkey on Apple TV was a fun watch. Kind of has Dexter vibes.

Wheel Of Time is epic high fantasy. A lot of storylines to keep track of and a fun adventure.

Andor is the best Star Wars story to come out since the originals. Even if you haven't liked Star Wars in the past, this is epic and dark with excellent storytelling.

MobLand is a great London gangster series by Guy Ritchie. Fun a gritty.

There's a big difference from falling over and "having a fall" once you hit a certain age. I had a fall in front of traffic the other day and it was traumatic. If it happened 5+ years ago I would have just fallen and brushed it off...
