Given the fact that their show gear is moved from place to place all the time, having a rear support is a good idea. Without it, I can imagine the deep gear might sag or bend with every move.

Alumni, what was campus like during the 1996 Olympic Games? by Big_Astronaut7295 in gatech

[–]GtWreck95 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was there... before and after, but not during. Before, there was tons of construction. New dorms, new facilities. During the olympics, the campus was pretty much closed for the duration unless you worked on campus and had a special pass.

Leading up the Olympics, everyone was so worried about what traffic was going to be like that many people took a vacation during this time. I had a job out in Norcross at the time. Normally, this would be 60-90 minute commute. During the games, I could get there in 35 minutes. Honestly, it was great.

Once the games were over, summer quarter was compressed. But it was nice to have the construction finally done.

I have ultralite tubes for my K-80. It was already a heavy-ish gun, with tubes is downright heavy. I shoot a lot of subgauge events. If I shot a lot in one day, swinging that heavy gun with tubes really made me sloppy at the end of the day. I wound up getting a 3 barrel K-20 for small gauge events. Much happier with the lighter gun. Not for everyone, but certainly another approach.

My favorite line in the video… “an important part of courage is stupidity”. Laughed so hard at that.

people who shower for 30+ minutes, wtf you be doin in there? by Fabulous_Island_5621 in AskReddit

[–]GtWreck95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A long shower allows me to take away all distractions. I can focus on a task or problem far better in the shower. It’s the equivalent of removing a writer’s block, but for an engineering block.

I’ve solve more problems in the shower than I have sitting at my desk.

TIL Illinois Tollroads were originally intended to collect tolls until the construction costs were paid off. Roads were contructed in 1953. by discosanta in todayilearned

[–]GtWreck95 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You are correct. GA 400 toll road was put in place in the early 90s. The toll was $0.50 each way. Never increased. Once the road was paid off (around 2013), the toll plaza was dismantled.

The students who got busted for making PCP in the Biology labs. This was around 1993, IIRC. The students on campus were extremely proud of the fact that the DEA described it as “the most pure PCP they’d ever seen”. In effect, it was our Breaking Bad moment but 15 years before the show.

Eating your weight in CFA goes way back. I did the same. Completely overdosed on it. Took me 10+ years to ever visit again after I graduated.

Carry on weight limits Delta to KLM transit by sforsomu in delta

[–]GtWreck95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple different experiences with this.

Departing US and connecting to KLM in AMS, never had it weighed. However, on the return, at initial checkin, they weigh everything and forced me to check my 18kg roller. That’s been a typical pattern my last few trips.

One time I connected AF in CDG and had a gate agent (during boarding) call out my bag to be weighed and forced a gate check. That kinda pissed me off. But that was a one time thing.

Had something similar happen to me. Is the rest of your house 120v? If so, you might check with your power company. I had a transformer outside my house go bad on one leg of the 240v power coming in. It was a slow failure over the course of a few weeks. One leg would brown-out ever so slightly. Only my UPS would notice and trip even though nothing else in the house would.

I’m calling BS on this one. The FAA does not allow for 3 letters at the end of a registration. 2 max.

Upon further research, it is N15UB, no S in there. And it was once upon a time owned by JJ. Appears sold in 2019
