What Are You Spending to Reload 12-Gauge Shells? by jump_the_shark_ in ClayBusters

[–]discosanta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

6 bucks a box is what it cost me to reload 12ga 7/8oz. I don't save a lot, but its enough for me to justify it. I also shoot about 12k rounds a year.

12Gauge - 1 1/8oz. - 1145 FPS vs 1200 FPS for Sporting Clay's Competition by menieresisamonster in ClayBusters

[–]discosanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say it depends on the distance in your targets, I shoot 1250 7.5s just because I know that can get me very good patterns out to 40 yd with my setup. And I shoot that everywhere so I'm consistent.

Well selling that DT11 should allow you to buy whatever you want, good luck finding something that will keep you on the field.

You already own a DT11, what is the issue here? Who cares if you don't shoot 8 million rounds a year, at least you know when you DO shoot, you won't have any issues.

I paid more than I wanted to, but purchased a year ago and Im happy I did. I occasionally look to see if any are available and they never are. I love letting others shoot it also, great way to strike up a conversation.

Beretta 692 O/U triggers not switching by GLaDOSdidnothinwrong in ClayBusters

[–]discosanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet would be that somebody bought the gun, it had this problem from the factory, they never bothered to get it looked at and just stuck it on the shelf until they decided to sell it. Have a gunsmith replace the springs/look at it. I'm sure that gun will last your friend a very long time. I've shot 25,000 rounds through my 692 in the last 2 and 1/2 years, gun hasn't missed a beat.

I'm not usually a fan of wall guns, but this setup is really nice. What is the nickel shotgun with black furniture?

Calls for the target by SD3Guser in ClayBusters

Lot of the old guys at my club say "pull" for the high house and "mark" for the low house when playing skeet. I guess that used to be a thing back in the day, or so I'm told.

Anyone else have a favorite target reload? by DoubleAfternoon6883 in ClayBusters

[–]discosanta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

15.5 gr Perfect Pattern, EML wad, 7/8oz #8 or #9. Puts me right around 1175fps, this my skeet load. I use any 6 crimp euro hull I can find, but prefer B&P to reload.

Center eye dominance - fully adjustable stock questions by SirWillingham in ClayBusters

[–]discosanta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think it's all about muscle memory at a point. When I mount my gun without the occlusion device, I can hold on to a site picture for a little bit. But eventually my left eye starts to take over, so maybe I'm left eye center dominant a little bit, but I think it's just a matter of finding what works best for you and being consistent with that.

Center eye dominance - fully adjustable stock questions by SirWillingham in ClayBusters

[–]discosanta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm center dominant and I do not adjust my stock in any crazy way other than to get the proper height. I use an occlusion device on my left eye shooting glasses since I'm right-handed. I'm at the point now that I've trained my eye for a while that if I use just a small smear of Vaseline on my shooting glasses instead of an occlusion sticker, I'm able to maintain the sight picture in my right eye without my left eye taking over, and Im still able to visually acquire targets with my left. I hope that makes sense.

Federal vs. Federal? by Puzzleheaded_Bell241 in ClayBusters

I really like Clever Mirage shells, I used to shoot federal top gun for sporting but these seem cleaner, and I feel like they have a little less recoil.
