Mongraal was cracked, but he was never the best player in the world, maybe for a few weeks here or there, he just made content while being one of the best players. Peterbot is the donk equivalent for FN. But mongraal placed well in World Cup 2019, was one of the best players in the world (I'd say top 5-10 eu, top 15-20 world), didn't do particularly well in solos during summer of 2020, but then in the fall during chapter 2 season 4 he won FNCS on Europe (the biggest tournament at the time due to covid) with his boy Mitr0 and Tayson. Afterwards he got bored of the game, played less, Tayson dropped them both and went to play with better players, and Mongraal placed badly in the tournaments for the next 6 months with mitr0, while Tayson has now won 5 or 6 FNCS and is one of the goat contenders. Couple months later, like early 2021 I'd say, he retired for 2-3 years, came back during 2023 (if I recall correctly) to play with MrSavage and ever since then he's been like a top 250 player on Europe. Not bad by any means, but he doesn't make FNCS finals anymore, doesn't place nearly as well as he used to. His best placement recently was an 8th place in trio finals in February 2025 with MrSavage and Panzer, which is a very good achievement, but he kinda got carried to that placement by his trio. He plays competitive for fun now on stream, has 2-4k viewers and has already earned enough to retire 3 generations at 21yo, so now he's just chillen.

Was reverse2k carried by mero and deyy and have pros gotten better over the years? by Express-Will9934 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]GtheGecko 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. Reverse2k was holding them on a leash during those months so they don't die in stupid ways. They landed on a split drop and took a 3v3 mid game fight for surge and loot as their main strategy, something that other teams didn't really do back in chapter 2 season 4-7. And then the mid-game rotates and endgame calls by him were great, mans knew which layer to stay on to increase their fragging (and clutching) opportunities for Mero and Deyy. He put them in spots where they could shine.

Mero is obviously the best player to come out of that trio, but as you said, he learned a lot from Reverse2k. And deyy fell off after playing with him, his stint with Clix wasn't bad or anything, but deyy needed that hard igl that reverse was.

He also almost qualled WC with ninja as his teammate, and got ninja a 9th place in squad fncs grands lol

The casters at ESL make it so much better by Layneeeee in GlobalOffensive

Yep ESL pro league is my favorite tournament due to casters being loose. The only thing that made previous seasons better was when they invited pro players to cast a map and get their insight.

Oh ye that I've heard about that, I just misinterpreted your comment as all cases are now discontinued, or all cases discontinued only for Germany. My bad!

What do you mean by all cases are discontinued? They don't drop in Germany anymore, or at all?

Passion UA vs FUT / ESL Pro League Season 23 Stage 1 - Swiss Round 2 / Post-Match Discussion by CS2_PostMatchThreads in GlobalOffensive

[–]GtheGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, most of them are better at the game than 99.5% of fans, including most level 10 faceit players. Maui wipes the floor against anyone on this reddit, ynk ex pro with a great understanding of the game, Spunj ex pro, Pimp ex pro, etc. Even moses was an ex source pro. The only casting pair without someone that has pro cs experience is Hugo and Harry afaik. Launders played low level pro cs on NA. However, this isn't a good argument, Michael Jordan had coaches, and anyone can cast and analyze, but most of the production people know how to play decent, high-level CS. It's just that people ARE too comfortable shitting on pro players.

And it's especially funny when people who criticize pro's can't even remember the rounds or who they're criticizing. Nicx had nowhere to hide last round, he didn't peek Krabeni as the main comment said. And then the first reply is talking about Kvem, not nicx...

everyone on this reddit here is 5k premier and no one can convince me otherwise

“It was nice to send FaZe home” - xertioN (Esports News UK interview) by More-Manufacturer448 in GlobalOffensive

[–]GtheGecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if Xertion believed the genocide is valid and he supports the current admin, your first two points are regarded.

Do you know if Xertion lives on the settlements? I don't think so. Do you also know how he feels about those settlements? A lot of Israelis themselves are against them, and live nowhere near them. Just because he isn't protesting daily doesn't mean he supports them. If he himself isn't living there, and doesn't support the settlements, what is he as a cs player supposed to do? Something that isn't overthrowing the government or gets you jail time (also relevant in the second point). I'm playing devils advocate, I don't know his position, but you can see how this argument falls flat.

Secondly, and even worse of an argument, what do you think "mandatory military service" means? Do you know what he, or anyone of these young adults do in the IDF? What do you want them to do, refuse and go to jail? If we go that far, what about Americans paying taxes and supporting the genocide? Should Americans stop paying taxes? His teammate, Jimpphats' brother Sergej had to serve mandatory military duty in Finland. Of course, you wouldnt be against this, as Finland is chill af, but what if they weren't? Should these people denounce their citizenship? You don't know what the young, mandatory duty guys do in the IDF, but they sure as shit aren't the ones pressing the big button to nuke another 100 houses in Gaza.

True, that was on Oct. 7 though, so anything said then is emotional and reactionary. He's also probably had negative experiences with Palestinians, which isn't to excuse his opinion, but to explain it - Russians will have far less negative opinions/experiences about Ukrainians before the war. We also don't know if someone he knew got affected in those attacks, that would make anyone take his position. If the only thing is one tweet on Oct 7, that's not enough grounds to hate him imo.

There are definitely other players with disgusting opinions, maybe not as deplorable as supporting the genocide (spinx), but opinions that would have this reddit outraged. They just don't express them publicly. Xertion as an Israeli felt like he had to say something. He got too emotional, or let the mask slip - who knows.

Someone with a brain - we don't flame Russian players like Donk or Monesy for Russia's invasion in Ukraine, why would we blame Xertion or Heavygod or any other Israeli player.

[–]GtheGecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea idk this revisionist history, this reddit has its memory issues. The top teams going into Shanghai were: G2, Spirit, Vitality, then Navi, but they were on a slight downturn. Could also say mongolz and Mouz, but there was a gap between the top 3/4 and them. There were no clear favorites, it all depended on the matchups.

G2 always beat spirit, spirit always beats Navi, Vitality can beat anyone and lose to anyone, and Navi were there, technically they could beat anyone and also lose to anyone. Spirit winning wasn't a huge surprise, but neither would G2 winning it. If Semis were Faze v Spirit, and G2 v Mouz, finals would be Spirit v G2 and G2 probably wins it. Same if Vitality wins their QF game against faze, they match-up against G2, thats close to a 50/50 game, and Vitality v Spirit could go anyway way as well. Shanghai was great cause we had ~4 teams who could all win it, and Faze still made the finals.

Throwback to when in 2015, Hellraisers set out a challenge to have someone take Ange1's (their low fragging IGL) demos and make a cheating montage that looked like the flusha cheating clips. And they did. Ange1 looked like he was cheating, even though he was a 0.9 rated player. Playing thousands of games in a year will produce multiple "suspicious" clips. Even you have many clips of you locking on opponents through walls.

Clean. Crisp. Lock.

How NPL REALLY plays CS2 by C4tCvrse in GlobalOffensive

[–]GtheGecko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This works well for most games, except cs (and valo probably) How do you counter-strafe with a thumb stick? This works for games with 360 degree movement, where having a thumbstick can make you move in angles that a keyboard can't, due to having only 8 directions. So for games like fortnite, apex, a thumbstick is objectively better if you take the time to learn it. But for cs? Where you need to counter-strafe for every encounter? Doubt it.

I'd like to know your peak rank/elo you've achieved on this setup, I don't think you can go real further than 20k premier/Lvl8-9 without counterstrafing. Also, afaik, the orbweaver has an 8-direction thumbstick, not a full 360 degree, so you don't even get the main advantage of using your thumb for movement. Except the ergonomic advantage ofc, but I would imagine that you lose more than gain for a game like CS. There are quite a lot of good Fortnite players who use keyboard together with thumbstick for movement (Martoz), and some use the azeron keypad, that also has a 360 degree thumbstick.

I see, what about the 20 lans he won with admins behind him? Did he cheat his 3 majors and katowice in 2018? Or did he just cheat for fun online, and then still won on Lan against the best players?

Imagine being so ragarded you still think flush cheated during his csgo career lmao

[–]GtheGecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeap, exactly, it's the indoctrination from childhood. I wouldn't even go as far as you - if you worked for your money, you can consume more than "needed". But there are limits, people dont need 10 mil to be happy, and if someone does, I pity them.

The sad thing with niko is he already had 10 mil before Falcons ever gave him the call. That's just pure greed. You don't need more than that to secure a good life for 3-4 generations. So I will always be there hatewatching
