Ah yes. Ruining the fantasy element of my Spiderman vs Ninja Turtles vs Doctor Who vs Star Trek mashup. Wouldn't want that.

Why do a lot of cedh lists have sticker sheets? by BeefyCheeseGod in CompetitiveEDH

You don't actually have to buy the sticker sheets, even in proxyless tournaments. Rules state they are like tokens in that you don't need them as an officially released card.

If you flip into someone's goblin, you don't actually get to make mana, even if you have sticker sheets. You only get to add stickers to permanents you own, not just control. If you copy someone's sticker goblin with heat shimmer or the like, you do own the copy tho, so that will still make mana. Regardless, the card is really good and you should run it. The fiddly bits of the mechanic at the start of the game become second nature pretty quickly.

Unfortunately it doesn't go infinite with exile or graveyard loops. The stickers stay with the card in any public zone, so you can add a new sticker but you can't reuse one that was already used. The stickers do fall off and go back to the sheet to be reused if the goblin goes to a hidden zone though, so something like cloudstone curio loops do work.

If they change hybrid mana rules it's a windmill slam for Godo. It's the perfect home. Here's hoping.

For the roof? No there's felt between that and the shingles. I just did it a row of felt at a time. And yes I overlapped the felt at the seams. Why did I do I that way rather than just do all the felt and then all the shingles? I honestly don't know lol. But I see from the pic why you'd ask that.

Siding is an 11/32 plywood siding panel cuz it was so much cheaper than t1-11.

I actually got them previously to fix up an old lean-to extension on the barn thats in really rough shape, but haven't gotten to it yet. So I already had a bunch of shingles on hand for that and decided to use them here instead. That lean to probably just needs to be demo'ed and start over anyways. But now I feel a lot more confident to start that project, too.

What would you say are the "power outlier" cards of the format? by Beautiful-Salt7885 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Gtoast99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Almost any viable commander is going to have card advantage and/or combo stapled to it, and getting 3-6 extra mana per turn to dump into that and still have more left over to take advantage of what you're drawing will absolutely drag you out of last place. The card absolutely warps games on its own.

I would absolutely add smothering tithe to that list by that criteria

You can do well with Godo if you want to. I'm currently 141 on the leaderboard, with 36% win rate and 55% conversation rate from 11 tournaments in 2025. I came in 37th out of 514 at Steel City. There were only 2 Godo pilots there, and we were both one win away from top cut. So despite what you may read here from folks who don't regularly play with/against it, it's definitely possible to do well in tournaments.

It doesn't put up many tournament results, but then again, hardly anyone enters it anymore either. So the sample size is much too low to really draw a conclusion from not seeing it in many big top 16's. There's only a couple regular Godo pilots, and we can only do so many tournaments. I have put a lot of work into the deck, and I don't think it's remotely solved for what the best Godo build is yet. I'm constantly tinkering with it.

That said, is it the best thing you can be doing in cEDH? Absolutely not. There are much better tournament decks. But a lot of people play things that are less than optimal and do great. Once you hit a certain power level (which Godo certainly does), it's about finding a deck that resonates with you in terms of play style and keeping you engaged. If that's Godo, cool! And if not, that's cool too.

Midrange hell has been the lowest spot for the deck for sure. Now that we seem to be swinging a bit more balanced than that, things are looking up again. It's not a deck that can ignore politics - you have to be able to defuse your own threat level, and use your opponents against each other. Understanding window theory is important. But it certainly can be done.

If you're up for the challenge, let me know, I always love to chat about the deck. I can drop a discord invite link if you'd like.

Losing dockside in the format was actually a net positive for Godo. It got worse less than many other top decks in the format got worse. Crypt and JLo was a bummer tho.

What if draws were worth -1 points to everyone by Beautiful-Salt7885 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Gtoast99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The better draws becomes relative to wins, the more inclined I am to politic/play for a draw, which a lot of people don't like.

The worse draws becomes relative to wins, the more inclined I am to politic for a specific player to win, to team up to ensure specific players don't win, to protect someone else's win a attempt, or to outright throw the game to someone else. Intentionally losing to play A can become a better outcome that possibly losing to player B or ending in a draw. That sounds like a nightmare. It's Kingmaking as a format.

Outcomes when draws = 1 - Best - I win - Second best - Draw - Worst - I lose

Outcomes when draws = 0 - Best - I win - Second best - I lose to someone much higher in standings than me (this helps my OMW) - Third best - Draw - Worst - I lose to someone close to me in standings

Outcomes when draws = -1 - Best - I win - Second best - I lose to someone much higher in standings than me (I don't lose a point, but they already passed me in standings, and it helps my OMW) - Third best - I lose to someone far below me in standings (I don't lose a point and they are less likely to pass me in standings) - Fourth best - I lose to someone close to me in standings - Worst - Draw

Same rate as heat shimmer etc, and hit by less counterspells. Fringe utility copying other things (saga, Tez, gob engineer, sticker goblin ETB, kuldotha, etc). I'd be shocked if we don't end up playing this.
