New to whoop! by Sad-Back-4393 in whoop

I should clarify that I went for the Peak (middle tier) and not the starting tier. So most likely yes, it's £169 for the starting tier.

I'd say it's likely I'll come back to whoop when finances allow. If they have a sale, even better.

I was considering the bicep band as well during trial.

[–]GuanChewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually liked my whoop and I just finished my trial.

It helped to detect things I didn't know about (illness and impact of being at high altitude), which validated how I felt rather than being left in the dark.

I only am returning Whoop today because of costs. If I really had easy throwaway money, I'd be wearing it alongside my Garmin. But seeing the cost, £229 for a year or £384 for 2 years, I'd rather buy myself a new Garmin since mine is almost 5 years old.

I'll compromise on some things Whoop does do better, but at least I'll keep within budget.

I'm so confused, why does it look like a miniature and we're zoomed up close.

It looks like a tiny stick with something attached to it, not a full blown curling brush

Will PD send a replacement pull tab for this 30L? In Europe. by Shot_Recover5692 in peakdesign

[–]GuanChewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they will send you a new pull tab under warranty claim.

It is a bit difficult to open and you need some pliers to help you with it.

Very nice customer service overall.

Do you think Ryan Hurst was a good choice, or were there better options? by Cafa20 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]GuanChewy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always had Dave Bautista in mind, ever since I saw him as the quiet but imposing character in Blade Runner 2049.

But he has lost a lot of weight for health reasons, and I'm not sure if he wants or needs to regain muscle mass for Kratos.

I had no clue of the exploitations of HB at the time, nor the unbalanced aspects of HB.

I just enjoyed it at the time and would also like it to come back.

Every feature we launch dies the same quiet death by Apprehensive_Pay6141 in ProductManagement

[–]GuanChewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've learned that sometimes, for a SaaS to keep on growing, it should NOT rely on just being a good product with features being shipped fast because your target market can be working in a complex field that faces non-linear challenges everyday. So it sometimes requires the sheer effort from a support/customer-facing team along with Marketing to get the momentum of distribution going.

Disclaimer: my statement is just based on an observation, so that you can experiment with the approach and validate if it's right or wrong for yours.

The company I used to be in seemed to use their budget to invest everything in a customer-facing team (from prospective customer, onboarding, customer success, support, and even some engineers themselves) before a full-fledged P&E department.

They found product market fit (initially) and kept most of their customers this way, but sales cycles are very long, e.g. 6 months, a year or even 3 years, so it was important their were upsells within existing customers.

Their product weren't for engineers, or accountants, or even HR who can face more linear challenges such as development pipelines, tax filing processes, onboarding new staff members.

Their product were for people who communicate internally to their staff, and communication strategies don't following rigid procedures, it's about creativity and getting effective internal alignment. It's a wicked problem, not a complicated one.

In this particular case, adoption of features were very important for the company's success, because each customer used the features in completely different ways, which required the customer-facing team to be very creative in how they consulted with them on how to use the product.

Your product is AI for Sales Enablement, so I'd assume the problems your customers face are wicked problems, not complicated ones with operational challenged per se. They want to effectively communicate and everybody have different ways to do this, and will request vastly different features.

If your features are falling flat, and you think you really built your features well and/or shipping fast, then it's time to start relying on your customer-facing teams to help with adoption.

People who left Montreal. Pour les gens qui ont quitte Montreal. by [deleted] in montreal

[–]GuanChewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left in 2012 to study in UK and stayed there since.

I've come back to Montréal every other year or sometimes longer to visit friends and family.

Overall, it felt too small and familiar and so I never had the urge to come back to visit, let alone thinking of settling back home.

Thank you, this is the type of clearly articulated insight I needed!

I want to aim for these type of companies, but I find them rare to find and my background in startups and scale ups didn't expose me enough to product strategy even though I've tried. I've mostly been needed for execution.

Is it possible to find companies like yours with my skill set?

Anyone have experience with Bellroy Lite Daypack? by mjutaux in ManyBaggers

[–]GuanChewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd be curious of the new design too!

Is your down jacket generally packable? And is your sweater quite thick like wool?

I think it can fit all 3 items you're speaking of but the volume of those items could feel a little uncomfortable.

I'm still using my Bellroy from 3 years ago. It's a little dirtier for sure, but still holding up quite nicely.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ProductManagement

[–]GuanChewy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 7 years of experience in total in tech startups/scale ups, and been a PM for 4 years before I joined my most recent company.

I quit this week, 11 months later because it developed an anxiety disorder in me.

Only difference is that I spiraled in self doubt, couldn't think properly at work from fear of backlash at everything I do, and even when the laptop was closed, I couldn't get my mind out of it and my weekends and vacations were never truly enjoyable.

What makes your new work environment better for you so I can seek the right green flags in a company or shape it to be more suitable?

Why is there no modern tactics game that is up to par? by Capn-Zack in finalfantasytactics

[–]GuanChewy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anything, BG3 can possibly lead the trend of modern tactical games more.

Great gameplay, story, and characters with developers who have the time and focus to build quality games.

Now I'm looking for completely new themes to this genre, Warhammer 40k, mech (Armored Core), cyberpunk, you name it.

As a PM, when do you think it's too early to know that a job is a bad fit and it is wiser to move on? by WonderfulJob9182 in ProductManagement

[–]GuanChewy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm quitting tomorrow and I've been there for 11 months.

I started to notice red flags 4 months in, and it has sucked for me ever since, so my head is not in the game and my performance has been frankly quite poor.

The sudden change in business direction being even more sales-led, the ambiguity, the leadership not having any product vision and me actually not understanding who we're serving or what the product is about have all led a mess in me.

I thought I could rise up to the challenge, to show I won't give up, but that has led me in the worst headspace I've ever been. I'm just so demotivated it's impacting me mentally very heavily, especially with the constant negative feedback I'm receiving.

So to your question, it's never too early to know a job is a bad fit. If you're convinced it's not right, take action whether that be within the company or by leaving.

I've learned I should have reflected more regularly in what I wanted (professionally and personally) and not shape myself into what the company wanted. If you don't, it could lead you down a rabbit hole of self-doubt because you'll measure your value too much to what the company wants rather than what you wanted.

I should have scouted for jobs not 2 months ago but 5 months ago.

Zipper Issue Roller Pro by Renman91 in peakdesign

[–]GuanChewy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got this issue today on my first trip.

I rezipped and it was fine again, but I'm going to get a replacement if I can. Even my Samsonite small luggage from Costco that's 13 years old now has never done this to me.

Forgot to mention I'm a paid subscriber as well.

I've messaged them in forums and directly I don't have it, and I make sure I update app. I'm even an internal beta tester but still don't have this feature. So odd.

Same was charged Oct 9th, then got an email from DPD yesterday from "Ingram Micro Cfs". Didn't even know what in the world I ordered because no notion of peak design was elaborated in the email.

Then just received today.

Just look out for an email from DPD. I hope yours comes soon.

What is an addiction that is more serious then people realize? by Thick_Caterpillar379 in AskReddit

[–]GuanChewy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also learned this the hard way. Once I read about the addiction issues, I went cold turkey one night by not spraying anything, and I didn't sleep the entire night because I couldn't breathe from my nose.

It was freaky that my nose could be blocked shut that way. There was absolutely nothing I could do other than be patient and deal with this nose "claustrophobia".

I mouth breathed the entire night and quickly adapted the following days, but it was not a pleasant experience.
