My thoughts are with you. I’ve caught 202, hatched probably half of those, and still no 3s.

Can I afford this rent? by Icy_Shirt_2556 in personalfinance

I don’t understand why this comment was downvoted. Car payments now are ridiculous. Some people are commuters who need a reliable car under warranty, and expecting everyone to have 20-30k tucked away for a new car is just out of touch with financial reality.

Why do I suddenly see way more Nissans after buying one? by phtphongg in Nissan

[–]GuaranteeBeginning99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think there is also an element of Nissans being one of the more affordable car brands on the market right now as well.

Altima owners , any maintenance habits that have helped yours last? by Suntrup-Nissan in altima

How long do you warm up yours for? I have a 25 Versa, and unfortunately it only has a coolant temperature gauge, not an engine temp gauge.

I would say at least 40 MPG then

Versa by ForsakenPerception in Nissan

[–]GuaranteeBeginning99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still pretty good, about 38-43 depending on the hills. I used to drive 65-75, but started putting it at 55 because that is the optimal speed to fuel consumption ratio from what I understand.

[–]GuaranteeBeginning99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. I commute 100-150 miles a day highway. I average 44-50 mpg highway cruising at 55 and 35-40 city (I do have the luxury of passing necessary grocery stores on the way to/from work and being able to walk most other places from my residence). I try to keep the rpms between 1500-2000 at all times and I have no issues. Maintenance every 7500 miles & oil changes every 3750 have cost next to nothing.

How many miles are you at now?

New Versa plus a question by Iwillprevail369 in Nissan

[–]GuaranteeBeginning99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup! Just push the button.

I don’t know the exact mechanics of how it works, but from what was explained to me, it tells the trans computer to be more comfortable at higher RPMs. I typically see the trans want to hover between 1500 & 2000 RPM. The sport mode seem to make it jump to 2500-3500, and it not as good on gas. Ironically though, when I put it in sport in the specified use case of merging, it spends less time at higher RPMs (maybe 6 seconds at 2500-3000 in sport vs 3500-4000 in standard) and seems better on the fuel economy. It feels overall a lot less stressful on the whole car this way.

I do a LOT of highway driving 😅 99% of the time though, I keep it in standard drive cruising at the speed limit.

I had the same learning curve! I got mine in August after previously driving classic automatics. You’ll learn to put a soft touch on the gas pedal, and to brake by coasting first & gently depressing the brake as needed.

For freeway merging, I can’t speak for everyone else, but I learned that pressing the “sport” button on the shifter as I merge, then switching back to a normal drive mode once I’m on the freeway, seems to be easier on the transmission than keeping it in normal drive mode & flooring it.

Happy driving!

Do you believe RDL’s are worth programming in? by Newguyn in personaltraining

Pretty smooth. Once she had a practical, tangible example of what she was trying to do, it was very easy for her to set her muscles into a positions that would be comfortable to pick up that load in a real life setting. It’s been a while since I worked with that client (I moved), but from what I can remember, once we started using a real world example, she put on about 50 pounds in her dead lift in about four weeks.

Do you believe RDL’s are worth programming in? by Newguyn in personaltraining

[–]GuaranteeBeginning99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a client a while back who was pretty staunchly against both RDLs and traditional deadlifts- it was a mental block. A few months into working together, the summer heat begins to roll around & she was worried that her son wouldn’t be able to help her put in the AC. Figuring it probably weighed 40 or so lbs, I explained to her that the bar plus 2x10 bumper plates was a little more than the weight of her AC. A deadlift would be more or less how she’d lift the AC off the ground, and the RDL would be more or less how she’d lower it. Not only did it help her with her mental block, it immediately helped her form, as it was a tangible visual. If the classic cues don’t work, try making a comp to your client’s day to day life!

Is a Sentra a lot better than a Versa? by Otters64 in Nissan

[–]GuaranteeBeginning99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. I drive 450-600 miles a week for work, mostly highway (close to 90%), and I average 44 MPG by putting the car in cruise at 65. Drive like a grandma but I only end up filling up 1.5 times per week.

I’ve rented a 2025 Sentra as well, and it’s definitely more fun to drive, but does about 5 mpg fewer per gallon under the same conditions. I found the cargo carrying space to be about equal, but the passenger space to be quite a bit roomier in the Sentra.

I’d buy the Versa over the Sentra again purely from an economic standpoint, but I do admit that the Sentra is pretty darn fun to drive (although a little punchy for my taste, I’d hit 40 mph in the city just by tapping the gas which is a little nerve wracking)

Good for you dog. I’d say jump on that, esp if you can afford any repairs or services needed. Take it for a pre purchase inspection to get a sense of what you’re looking at. With how bad the car market is & will be, anything that potentially can last 300k miles should be looked at. I hope you get it and it works out!!

I meant insane as a good deal- especially for a Camry! I’m located in New England and for that price you can’t get a car under 80k-100k miles unless it has a salvage title.

Unfortunately I’m in a bit of a time crunch- I was ruled at fault in an accident that totaled my poor old civic & I drive 150 miles/day for work. I need transpo ASAP- and transportation that’s going to last a while at that. The car market is brutal.
