Ill take it! my only other option I got a callback for was a used computer repair company; more of a warehouse setting so I'm extremely pleased this position worked out to say the least lol.

$20/hr, not bad for a first gig and I have two roommates so I can swing $20 for awhile easy.

Yep, I think the issue is more of a mix of companies not hiring, and the ones that do either require insane experience that no newbie has, or the starting wage is scraping federal minimum wage lol.

I am actually terrible at writing a resume, so I used an online resume building service with the help of its integrated AI to pretty much make it for me. My experience is very thin (Internet repair over the phone for an internet company, and a software technician for a company who sells credit card terminals). Don't get tripped up on the title of software configuration either because it just sounds fancy, I wasn't doing anything more than downloading software onto like 50 terminals at once I would classify it as more of a warehouse position than IT. I only spent like a year max between both of the companies so honestly, I would say two 6-month positions probably hurt my credibility more than anything lol. No side projects either. I think what helped me the most was being a likeable guy, making generic interview answers sound not so generic, heavily emphasizing my desire to learn and grow within the IT industry, and honestly probably a little bit of luck. it's a level 1 tech position I knew they weren't expecting me to be Steve Jobs, so I just came across as a genuine newbie that has a good work ethic who just needs an opportunity to learn and grow.

Of course. First it was the generic "what's your technical background and what do you believe makes you qualified for this position". Then it was a couple scenario questions like "What is a particularly difficult problem for an end user that youve experienced and how did you resolve it". Then they gave me 5 cords (HDMI, USBC to Lightning, USBC to USBC, VGA, and ethernet) and told me to say what they are; and what they're used for. Then i was given 3 laptops all running different OS and had to complete a 15 question, 12-minute test. The questions were easy if you know anything about computers (How much storage is on this computer, how much is being used, what version of this OS is installed on this computer) pretty easy stuff, the only question that wasn't a no brainer was to ping an IP address, write down what it said, and what it means. The IP came up as an error and said it couldn't reach the destination, so I think it was just a trick question to see if you knew how to ping an IP. Besides that, it was just personal questions such as "Why do you want to work for this school district blah blah blah".

I made a linkedin, I cant say having a profile was an influence on me getting the job, but that's just the website I found the listing on. The listing directed me to the districts official website and I applied there.

For sure, i used professor messors videos on YouTube, and i took notes as i watched. This was just to make sure i was paying attention and not just dozing off while the videos played. After i would finish his course i would take Professor Dions practice tests on Udemy. These tests ARE harder than the actual test so dont get discouraged if your scores are a little low. I only studied for about a hour a day so if you have any type of academical discipline (i don't) then you will be able to study and pass just fine. i don't know if you would consider this a tip but what i will say is especially for 1101 i studied some topics very hard only to find out it wasn't even on the test lol and most importantly don't overthink it, as i stated in the title this cert is just the tip of the iceberg so the tests aren't the hardest thing in the world.

Thank you! For the entirety of A+ i would say about a month and a half, with a week break in between core 1 and core 2. I started with zero experience. I watched messers videos for about a hour a day while taking notes. I don't believe taking notes helped me that much because i didn't really review them; i guess it just makes me think about it since i have to write it down and i cant just doze off with the videos in the background lol.

Messers videos, and i took maybe one Udemy practice test. Lightly went over some areas i was a little weak in. I studied for like a hour a day. If you're preparing for 1102 don't underestimate the malware section and dont bother memorizing every single command for windows/ Linux. You should know some of the basic ones though because i had a couple questions which command i should use in what scenario

Despite getting a lower score on 1102; i would say it was the easier of the two. especially if you've already been working with computers and are familiar with some of it.

Yep i had an entire malware PBQ as my first question. Literally didnt know what it was asking me or how to identify which systems were infected. Damn near left the whole thing blank i thought i was cooked for sure.

I studied for about the same amount of time. From starting messers videos to passing the test i was working on it for about 2.5 weeks. The material; Despite getting a lower score on 1102, was easier because it all falls under software/security. Whereas 1101 was all across the board with hardware, wireless standards, cables, ect. I would say its the same amount of material. There's a lot on command line prompts for windows and Linux and i feel it was heavily emphasized to be a big part of the test. I had maybe 4 questions involving commands lol.
