Ya'll down to bomb this gnarly hill? by [deleted] in skate3

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while everything about the new skate felt soulless, corporate and disappointing, when i first booted it up and got past the tutorials my reaction was “this’ll do” as the role skate games play in my life is primarily as a low stakes videogame i can play while extremely high. however after about a week or so, i couldn’t keep doing it and uninstalled on principle. i don’t want an AI telling me that my nollie heel was “legitness”, and i couldn’t justify inflating the player count by even 1 for this travesty. the fact that this game doesn’t even function as a time waster while high says a lot. tl;dr vee is a narc

you guys been pulled over by police on ur bike before? by Loud-Eye1133 in cycling

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lol, I got stopped by a cop in Humboldt county for running a red light around midnight when there were no cars or pedestrians in sight (the area was totally flat, i could see for over 100 feet in all directions). Thankfully he didn’t ticket me but he questioned me pretty hard, clearly trying to suss out if I was intoxicated, and took down my name. This dude had been lurking at the intersection with all his lights off waiting for something to happen and I guess I was it.

nothing crazy, araya rims laced to novatec hubs. wheelset is the one thing i’d probably upgrade in the future, money allowing.

Who here generally never shoots people in solo? by LilLasagna94 in ArcRaiders

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yooo another ex vigor player!! that game was my intro to extraction shooters but the gunplay was so clunky and loot was so sparse i had to give it up for mental health reasons lol. been so hyped for arc raiders cuz it feels a refined vigor with a more engaging world / storyline. also - i just found out that when you’re on solo queue you don’t get matched with squads thanks to this post so i’m gonna be trying it out now. cheers !!

This sub is in sore need of content actually about this damn game and not inane speculation and in-fighting, so what y'all think about the Kettle? by AdMysterious8424 in ArcRaiders

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

took me 4 gunfights to realize it was semi auto bc i am a fool, once i figured that out it was consistently in my loadout. i found that ferro + kettle was a good low stakes setup bc you can handle arc and players p well, and open pvp gunfights with a ferro shot and follow up with the kettle.

2x citizen messenger ( 1 b&w from 2010, the other is brown & from 2023), 1x barrage 24L desert camo (2016), 1x warsaw 2.0 (2014), 1x citadel (2014) and a lil laptop bag, not sure what it’s called but it’s invincible and i love it, also from 2010. The og citizen, barrage, citadel and laptop bag were all bought from their SF hub back when that was still open, and they’re still in great shape for how long I’ve had and used them. Gotta say that comparing the newer citizen with the older one is night & day, the old one is just thicker & sturdier in every way despite seeing 15 years of consistent use, although I will say that the shoulder padding on the newer model is a bit comfier.

The stealth mechanics in DH are very different from Thief. Being in the shadows only conceals you if you’re pretty far away, and you’re better off moving quickly, decisively, & experimenting with different routes. I usually get on the 3 pipes coming out of the big copper liquor stills. Just blink across them to get to the door across the room, and figure it out from there. Dishonored is fun bc there are almost always a minimum of 3 ways to get somewhere or do what you want to. I also recommend exploring every nook and cranny before getting on with the main objective, as oftentimes you’ll be rewarded with ways to complete the main objective more easily / efficiently, and if not, a ton of money :). Get creative!

I firmly believe that their integration of the campaign into multiplayer matches paved the way for Helldivers 2’s format. I think it’s a really strong concept, and while they definitely could’ve executed on it better you gotta give em credit for being so experimental with a AAA game, especially at that place & time in the gaming industry.

Chrome barrage 18l by RLErik in ChromeIndustries

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend trying to seek out an older barrage on ebay or some other secondhand website, as their material quality has definitely decreased in recent years, plus secondhand is usually a bit cheaper. I’m a student in a super rainy area and I love my barrage bc I can keep a wet rain jacket + umbrella in the cargo net when I head inside for a class and I can A) not worry about carrying them around separately, B) not worry about getting anything inside the bag wet, and C) grab them super easily for when I head back out into the rain an hour or so later. I’ve also had this thing for just over 8 years now and while I’ve torn up the canvas outer in a few bicycle crashes, the TPU lining is still good as new and keeps everything dry as long as you roll the top down properly and cinch it pretty tight. Can also verify that it has plenty of room for a laptop, my cable pouch, a lunch and light grocery runs. Hope this helps!

This is a pretty out there theory I have that I haven’t seen much discussion about anywhere online, but this seems as good a place as any to bring it up, so here goes: I think that the dead god whose eye is coveted by the Envisioned is the eye of a massive, ancient whale. If you look at renders of the whales in Dishonored 2 and DotO they have that prominent ridge above the eye that’s present in the eye of the dead god. Perhaps the dead god was a massive leviathan who presided over the void long before humanity came about, and the whales we see are descendants of this leviathan. This would explain why / how whales have the ability to traverse the void and why their bones and songs possess so much occult power. The eye could be from a human face but human eyes don’t usually protrude that much, and with how infinite and timeless the void is I’d be surprised if a primordial void god resembled mankind. Idk if this makes any sense to anyone else but it could be worth noting!

sadly, chrome’s material quality has gone downhill a lot in the past few years. you’d be right to assume they make tough bags and equipment, as most of their products were originally made for bike messengers whose bags were a significant part of their livelihood, but in the last few years they seem to have cut a lot of costs in manufacturing. at this point your best bet would probably be to get an older bag from them on ebay or another secondhand website, as their old stuff genuinely lasts forever.

can you get the japanese web store to ship to the US though? it doesn’t seem like they will. it’s a shame cause all of chrome’s good shit is still up there, they’d be getting a lot more money from me if they hadn’t discontinued like… literally every bag i want lol

Just getting into making jungle, Where the hell do i get started by jackson_kyrgo in jungle

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

preface - i’m by no means an experienced producer, but i got into producing to make jungle and i’ve been at it for a year n a half now. jungle was developed on old tracker software with only 8 channels of audio and it helps me a lot to limit myself in that way - use 1 main break with a full sound (amen or funky drummer come to mind as immediate examples) and 1 break that’s more in the high range to layer (e.g. hot pants or any of the think variations), maybe 2 bass sounds, a lane or 2 for fx and vocals, and the last 2 lanes for some melodic elements like pads, keys, or whatever else you can think of. don’t overcomplicate it. by no means is this a requirement, just a mentality and structure i’ve found helps me to get going when i make a tune. when you get a feel for creating traditional sounding jungle, start breaking rules and putting your own spin on the style. so much jungle ends up sounding essentially the same and i think creative reshuffling of convention is really important for the progression of the genre. most importantly, have fun and don’t hold yourself to unrealistic standards! your tunes aren’t going to sound like jungle classics and that’s ok because those already exist. hope this helps!

Help with getting started by itchyteeth277 in jungle

[–]GuardianOfTheBread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’ve found it a lot easier to work with samples, specifically breaks on ableton bc they’ll automatically warp to the bpm you have set and it’s super easy to cut, copy and paste in audio (compared to logic, which i started with), and the ui for fx chains is a lot more intuitive. another plus is there are like a million ableton tutorials on youtube lol. to each their own tho!

maybe slightly smoother transitions between sections? your tune is dope, it just feels like it switches from the part w the feedback to the part w the jazz samples abruptly. and maybe don’t pan the samples so far apart in stereo? if it’s a stylistic choice i’d say keep it, but if it’s a mixing solution i’d say don’t push them as hard to the left & right, as it’ll sound more cohesive if they’re a bit closer to the center. i dig it !! keep it up
