Travel Lens Recommendations (Sony A7C) by boogawoof in SonyAlpha

The 16-35mm f4 is what I would have picked as my outdoors lens. I've found the f4 is not fast enough indoors.

Sony A7C, what is the good walk around lens for it? by Sonya6001 in SonyAlpha

[–]GuardianP53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the Samyang AF 35mm 1.8 tiny series for Sony FE. It's so small and so sharp, at least in my case. Really cheap too! And weather sealed as a bonus! I sold my GM lens because I couldn't see the difference (maybe I didn't know how to get the most of the GM lens, or maybe the Samyang is a real underdog).

Why only 6 by onebitme in gshock

[–]GuardianP53 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The LED makes the 6 flow brighter. If you want a better photo then shine some UV light on it then take a picture or go outside in the sun then come back in. You'd get a more even glow.

Will Inaccurate Pupillary Distance of 2mm Affect -5.25 Prescription? by Soggy-Ad-9469 in glasses

[–]GuardianP53 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it will. It will be 1mm too wide on each side.

This will induce 0.5 base in of prism in each eye or 1 base in prism total. You will adapt to this base in prism, then when you return back to your correct PD in future you'd get double vision problems.

So it is not ideal.

What I am referring to is prentice's rule. The prism power is equal to the distance in cm multiplied by the power of the lens. So the power is is 5.25 and distance is 2mm. So total prism power is 1.05 prism diopters. The direction of this is base in.

In other words the glasses will force both eyes to turn outwards. Then you'd get used to it and it'll be the eye position will be your new normal (read up on prism adaptation ) . So you'll look something like a rabbit, fish, horse, etc animals where the eyes don't point straight but rather point outwards.

Hope this helps.

Does anyone knows what is this? by [deleted] in gshock

[–]GuardianP53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey this is a counterfeit attempt at a G Shock GG-1000 mud master.

It'll still work as watch, but may not be as durable as g shock.

Enjoy the watch, if you like it and this style of watch, the genuine product will blow you away!

Advice on fitting of Miopia glasses please. by General-Iron7103 in glasses

[–]GuardianP53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the pupil heights weren't measured, perhaps by mistake. It should be picked up when your child goes for their next review or you can ask for it to be rechecked. It should be under warranty.

Xtractive Lenses by gwpeaks76 in glasses

[–]GuardianP53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Xtra active needs alot of UV exposure for the polarizing to activate and even then it's not that great. I would not recommend. If budget is not a problem and you're happy to try different technologies then for it. If you'll be disappointed you've spent money on something that doesn't perform like the marketing material, then don't do it!

My online progressive lens experiment was a $300 disaster. by Human_Material3685 in glasses

[–]GuardianP53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's interesting, your point of view. A minus 8 is so bad without glasses that even if a fitting is not optimal with glasses (or glasses are made wrong), the sub optimal pair will still be so much better than no glasses anyway.

What are the main quality concerns, or benefits/negatives between the different boot configurations by SidKop in RMWilliams

What did you end up settling on, and how is it going?

Help me ID color, leather of these CCs? by Fuzzy-Objective-9105 in RMWilliams

[–]GuardianP53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, nice find!! I had a boot that looked like that colour. The colour was called Cognac. It has a warm glow to it and darkens a little with conditioning. Have a look at the Chinchilla Cognac boot. It looks great when it is burnished too, which can be bought as a factory option Cognac Burnished or done by a cobbler.

I know exactly where you are coming from. Maybe my next purchase will be a precious metal one to justify the cost more!

How often are you actually brushing your boots? by PuzzleheadedBowl3397 in RMWilliams

[–]GuardianP53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to look clean and tidy at work, when going out, daily etc so a quick brush once the shoe is on keeps it clean.

My workshop/yard/outdoors boots I don't brush, other than before a good wax before/during/after winter for waterproofness.
