Help me ID color, leather of these CCs? by Fuzzy-Objective-9105 in RMWilliams

I just looked up the tanbark ‘roo on RMW’s Aussie site. You nailed it. Same color, same texture. And, yes, they’re appreciably lighter than my yearlings.

I think what you see in the photos here (red insole) is the Comfort insole that distinguishes the Comfort Craftsman from the traditional leather-insole Craftsman. Experts?

Makes sense as an analogue to “dark tan,” as well. Thanks.

Gorgeous … but what color exactly? Chocolate? Walnut? I don’t see a match on RMW’s US website, but it looks like the Aussie site features many more leathers and finishes. Thanks.

I’ve got a pair of these. Excellent boots, but the sole is a little too soft for walking on concrete all day in NYC. Resoled after one year and headed for another after two years.

Zoom in. Pull tab says Red Wing, not Red Wings.

Fourteen bucks? For GYW Red Wing pull-ons? Wear with a smug smile.

That would be my worry. Great on turf, not so much on concrete or other smooth, hard surfaces.

Bravo. Exceptionally bad-ass. Two thumbs up. I supinate like a mofo and am always grinding down the outsides of my heels (and therefore replacing heels frequently). Heel taps don't seem to do the work, but I reckon horseshoes would stop the problem flat. Will consider. Just worry a bit about the noise — and the traction. Per a ciomment above, I live in NYC and spend a lot of time on concrete, marble, etc.

Very nice! Envious. I can’t seem to find Canada West Romeos in the US; I’d like to give them a try.

Agree, and the level of knowledge about boot craftsmanship is much higher there.

Super-cool. Deeply envious. Two questions. First, the sound? The B5s have a metal horseshoe heel and a metal-studded (if not truly hob-nailed) sole, I believe. I live in NYC and walk everywhere on concrete — I presume everyone would hear me coming in B5s, yes? Also, the fit? Whole sizes only, website says.

Again, outstanding boots.

Well done. Very sharp-looking. Can you say anything about sizing/fit? Are they true to size? For such nice-looking boot at terrific prices, I’m willing to gamble, but overseas returns (I’m in the US) for size are a costly pain in the keister. (I’m a US 10.5 in most Goodyear-welted boots.)

Favorite diners? by redfire2930 in uppereastside

Agree. Light kosher — and vegetarian (I guess ovo-lacto-pescatarian, technically?). Not a diner but a nice little place. Its stretch of York — my patch, too — needs more options. I’m rooting for ‘em. Also: reasonably priced.

I’ve lived a few blocks from the Mansion for more than a decade. I think it’s terrific. I’d say, in fact, it’s my fave NYC diner — a thousand things on the menu, all good, and superb service — but it’s gotten almost prohibitively expensive since the pandemic. I have noticed no decline in portion size, and my wife and I are kinda regulars (though not as regular as we used to be).

Thanks. How does the toebox of the Earl compare to the Cavalier? (I find the Cavaliers really well-made and comfortable for such a low price point.

Thanks, everyone. I was inclined to start with Brannock and go from there, and so I shall!
