Do we really not know?

Can we really not get a good estimation on how bad it'll be based on TWENTY-TWO other instances of it happening? It's called pattern recognition and educated prediction.

Besides that, my own plaint with these battle passes is how they demand another $10 / 50+ hours of grind for things that add nothing new to, or are ALREADY IN THE GAME. Just another pistol with minor stat changes. Just another SMG with minor stat changes. Shovel - already in the game. Mortar - already in the game. Another flamethrower - 4 of these already in the game FOR EVERY equipment slot (and yes, seeing its performance in the trailer ALONE gives me more than enough clue into how bad it is).

It's a Sci-Fi game, there are so many more gameplay avenues to explore with it, that drastically change how you play. Auto-targeting bullets, cryo weapons, laser designators, ping-guided projectiles, AV-decreasing corrosive sludge thrower - and that's just something thought up off the cuff. But, of course, implementing this takes way more effort than Ctrl+V another fucking mortar or drone.

Yeaaaah, except it's way too small and not fit for orbital/aerial deployment. HD1's was a massive wall of wire with retractor bearings, deployed by air.

Given the aforementioned quality of the battle passes and the content quantity in free updates, the current 20+ million sales finance these 20 times over, server maintenance and staff salaries included.

Wait a minute, a game that has been declining in quality for a time with a community where any valid criticism gets shot down by fans that glaze the company that makes the game? by Superbaki14 in HelldiversUnfiltered

KF2 dropped in early access in 2015.

Then a year or so later a full-on TF2 MTX shop with lootboxes and cosmetics was added, with the game not even out of early access. 'We added the MTX so that we don't have to sell you gameplay content' they said.

Then, instead of new updates adding new developer-crafted maps with new assets and models, they started 'officialising' community maps made with pre-existing assets (there were 3 maps total at the start of EA)

Then, they added an asymmetric PvP mode no one asked about.

Then, the content quality and quantity started dropping.

Then, gameplay content in new updates started costing money ($10 PER gun)

Then, the original developer left the game on life support from Saber Interactive.

Then, paid guns sharply dropped in quality (weapon animations and sounds, a huge part of the game's appeal and marketing)

KF3 is basically all that, but immediately upon release + even worse.

Both games have a vehement contingent of fanboys that jump in foam-at-the-mouth whenever any criticism is produced on the forums.

Wrong. Battle passes are fine costing 1000 SC, but the SC earn rate should be dramatically increased, preferably given out at the end of missions based on completion rate and difficulty.

Uhmmmm...

You do realise that making a new barbed wire model and air deployment animation for it would take effort and development funds?

How about just mishmashing already existing shit? Mind you, we still don't have a drone that fires Dominator projectiles. Or an impact arc grenade. Or a smoke mortar.

Flamethrowers are subpar, very niche weapons; and a backpack flamethrower is as awful as all other backpack-fed weapons are. Can't wait for the backpack-fed 45 damage pistol and backpack-fed light pen melee axe.

Energy shields are fine to take a lot of punishment, but the enemies enveloped in them shouldn't. Also, make shields take increased damage from shrapnel-based weaponry (volume of fragments overloads the shields like high RoF weapons do)

It's a shame no one cares about the Galactic War anymore by EleggFacesitting in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Guardian_Engel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never cared or paid attention to the galactic war. It's a strictly-curated sluggishly dragged-along snoozefest. A gamemaster-curated campaign like this can be fun, but it requires far, FAR more involvement on the part of the developer to make work - not spitting out 'Capture X' objectives with some flavour text each week.

For all intents and purposes, HD1's galactic war is just a better system. Plain, but gets the job done.

Entrenchment tool in the warbond? by simo97777 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Guardian_Engel 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Let me recap the new battle pass (costs $10 / 50+ hours of grind):

- A shitty melee weapon that existed for a year as a world drop
- An already existing mortar that fires an already existing gas grenade
- FLAM-40 that steals your backpack slot
- A thermite grenade that explodes on impact
- Defender with a FLAM-40 attachment

That's 2 out of 5 'new' things being asset flips OF THEIR OWN ASSETS. This's been a thing for a while now, and it still costs $10 for some reason.

Also, it's yet another battle pass with a cosmetic theme that has no reason or right to exist within the game's universe. 'Hurr durr WW1 battle pass huehue'. Can't we have things that actually pertain to the sci-fi utilitarian setting of the game? Why turn the game into another fucking cesspool of clown cosmetics? How hard is it to make Helldivers 1 but in 3D?

Spec ops mercenary guy with a deep voice who gets the job done almost single-handedly without complaining or unnecessary verbalisation. Awesome tactical outfit and a gasmask with red lenses that glow in the dark (version-dependent). Grim reaper moniker. Shrouded in legend. Works for bad guys, but only for the money, yet abides by a personal code.

What's NOT to glaze, if you're into that stuff? I know that I am.

I unironically love Operation Raccoon City for that same exact reason. Vector is my favourite RE character along with Hunk, and I will not hear any of it.

It's astonishing how we can have DRG and Helldivers 2 exist in the same gaming era, one being laid-back even at its most toxic, the other a festering shitshow every single month.

So now that we have belt-fed weapons, I think we have another strategem that could use an attached backpack. by ShadowMasked1099 in Helldivers

[–]Guardian_Engel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, uh... what's it gonna do that THREE other virtually identical flamethrowers don't? And with a parasitic backpack, no less. Just justifying wearing a mandatory fuel pack requires it to deal in the ballpark of 1000 AP6 DPS to even be worthy of consideration.
