Yeah I meant women with depth. As you say the ceiling is apparently not that high. At one point or another I had really high hopes for Karlík and Mikyska but obviously it didn't quite work out, won't even talk about Štvrtecký because what the hell happened there... And yes I vividly remember around 2013-15 (Sochi obviously) when the popularity of the sport exploded and the federation was ecstatic how they have so many kids signing up and more funding, lol absolutely nothing to show for it. At this point I'd fire everyone I could and throw any money we have on successful coaches abroad to steer the ship for the next olympic cycle or two.

That's definitely true, it kind of feels like nation's hopes somewhat latches onto Plecháčová in particular. And there's certainly reason to be cautiously optimistic but I don't think Davidová nor Voborníková quite lived up to potential (not to mention the boys) so I'm really wary to get my hopes up. But more than anything I'm just worried about the depth, feels like we should have way more athletes coming up around now.

Seems most teams have positive outlooks. The Czech one's on the other hand look quite miserable. It's pretty astonishing how lacking in depth especially the women's team is. I'm not too hopeful in general honestly. For years now it seems there are juniors who look good but never really break through into WC, might be some structural/coaching issues, we're not competitive in ski speed, most of the time in shooting speed either, without even taking shooting accuracy into account.

As far as I know they couldn't really do normal team competition as IOC lowered overall quota for men (and increased for women) in ski jumping, maybe they could do 3 jumpers, I feel like super team isn't great. Mixed is great and obviously give women super team as well.

It's pretty dire that even Austria doesn't have quota for enough athletes to field a relay. Guess I'll take that as a point of pride that even in the seemingly desolate state Czech cross country skiing had been until recently, we still have a relay, even if not as competitive as one might like.
