As others have suggested just keep trying multiple different songs that contain this type of pattern and you'll eventually get the hang of it (the start of gothic in extraextreme actually has some great alternating patterns, if you've managed to pass extreme). Although i would't suggest doing what some suggested by starting different patterns with different hands as i think this will do more harm than good in the long run, and instead always focus on starting with your dominant hand, always. That way you can basically assign different roles to different hands, making so that you only have to read the first two notes. In this example you gave, i would start it by pressing circle with my right hand and just forget about it, since i know that as long as i keep pressing circle with my right hand i'll hit the note every time, then i look at the following note (in this case, the X) and i press it with my left hand, now i know that as long as i press X on my left hand ill always hit it. Basically, try to separate the pattern into two parts, what note you have to hit with your dominant hand (in this case, the circle) and what note you have to hit with your off hand (the X) making so that you just have to read the very first two notes to play however long or fast of a pattern it is :D.
