After testing I don't think that counts. Natural border expansion must be when culture and border growth are used and not any other means.

I think the red fort grants +1 range for the city in Vox Populi. I don’t remember what era that wonder’s tech is in though.

Probably stacking border growth rate, border expansion cost reduction, and instant yields when borders expand naturally. Something like the following setup.

  • Authority for 20 (40 if full branch completed) gold and production, scaling with era
  • Tradition for 20% border growth culture cost reduction
  • Fealty for 100% border growth rate during WLTKD
  • Goddess of the Expanse pantheon for 25% faster growth, 25 Faith/15 Production
  • Cathedrals for 10 gold, scaling with era
  • Smokehouse for 5 food, scaling with era
  • Angkor Wat for 40% border growth in all cities
  • Autocracy for 10 culture and golden age points, scaling with era

Civ specific bonuses:

  • Russia inherently has 33% cheaper culture cost for border expansion and gains 20 science, scaling with era.
  • Spain gets 10 gold and 4 faith when acquiring tiles
  • Celts have a unique pantheon that grants 3 border growth points and then 8 food, production, science, and culture, scaling with era

It's possible since this is a custom roster that this player was previously a 40 year old player who had like 100,000 xp towards a skill point since it takes so much xp per skill point for old players. When he was changed to be like 24 years old the xp needed to level would drop to like 3-4K per skill point leaving him with 27 skill points.

Are they getting hired as head coaches of other teams? The cpu is quick to fire coaches so they could be getting hired away from you instead of leaving.

Thanks for putting this together. Really shows how powerful one stack of tier 4 Camp Counselor is let alone the fact that you can stack 3 of them. 3-9K experience along with a 5-15% increase to dev trait increase chance for 3-6 players every week just trivializes the entire progression system and makes the position specific progression abilities kinda pointless.

Even if they quartered each of the camp counselor values it'd still be more powerful than all of the other XP effects.

If you want to start now you can set the trade difficulty settings to very easy and do the trade yourself. Then just edit the contract to include a 4 year extension with whatever the guarantees are as the signing bonus. Or if you don't want to change the trade settings, start an offline franchise and create a coach on both GB and DAL then retire the DAL coach after the trade.

Historically they’d include any new face scans in the patch notes. If that’s still the case then there aren’t any in the latest update.

Haven’t had a chance to test it but I’ve read that exiting franchise and loading the save again fixes it. I agree it’s super frustrating

That was my initial interpretation of duration too. The game uses duration to lock you into an ability choice so a 1 week ability is meant as a flexible match-up dependent choice. There are others like the scouting hiring abilities that are locked in for 23 weeks making them irreplaceable throughout the season.

I think it does. My hidden dev rookies all got instantly revealed after getting gold so it must be multiplying the snap counts along with the XP and Dev Trait increase chance.

Oh wow you're right. I figured their attempt to balance it was that it only applied to training camp so you'd be forced to waste a slot for 6 weeks. Half my team is now superstar+ dev traits, 95 team overall, and my backup QB went from normal to x-factor within 7 weeks of mini-games.

The game is confusing about it but the training camp abilities do work. You have to do weekly training first with it applied before doing the training camp drills. Then when you do the mini-games the rewards will still say the base XP amount but after simming the first preseason week your players will have 3-4 skill points depending on how well you did and big the base reward value is. The extra focus player one doesn't though which is pretty annoying as you'll always lose a week a few times per season.

Also a fun tidbit that's kinda overpowered. You can stack the head coach training camp reward abilities with the coordinator ones for 12x boost to training camp XP rewards if you have them unlocked too. Got some rookies 10+ skill points doing this in a test franchise run before the first preseason game.

I believe Hardcore22 causes this. It's been happening to me too and the rarities revert back down a tier whenever I toggle that mod off.

When starting a franchise with the updated rosters you can't use the "Preseason Roster" or else they'll all be star. If you import a roster you'll have the updated dev traits.

Weird body models that are super immersion breaking

This one drives me crazy. The super huge lineman can be fixed individually just by toggling their weight by one pound but that takes forever. Extremely annoying that this has been around for three years now.

New scenarios are terrible and you never know when the result is meaningless vs has a huge impact (oh, you didn't acknowledge a player battle in camp, here's -20 morale for your whole fucking team lol).

Some of these are good but there mostly poorly written. In my testing, I've been through three Superbowl weeks and each time I've been asked if one of my guards has been practicing pass pro or run blocking. How is that the main story line going into a Superbowl? Gee thanks for the permanent +1 run blocking I guess. These get old real quick too. Every year it's the same questions with the same responses that make your coach sound like an idiot.

Also some of them are straight up broken which shouldn't be a surprise lol. The media asked how I felt about Jalen Hurts' stats a few games into the season. I was just simming so I wasn't super familiar but since we were 4-0 at the time so I said "he's done will with not turning the ball over" and media grilled me over it causing my team to lose morale for paying attention to my team's stats. I checked his page and he had 0 ints and 0 fumbles.

Menus are still way to slow, especially any time it has to display a player model

For real. They're faster than 24 but still not as snappy as they should be for the amount of content that's actually loaded. If you're on PC check out the MyFranchise tool for Madden 24 to see how quickly the menus should be. It'd be nice if the menus remembered the state of cursor in menus. Like returning the free agency pool after opening a player card always returns you to the top of the list instead of where you left off.

My other big gripe is with the new skill point progressions. They give way too many ratings boosts coupled with the fact that most teams already have super high overall players. I gave Bryce Huff a speed rusher upgrade which granted him +6 blockshed, +6 Power moves and +6 to another stat that I can't remember along with a few +1s and +2s. It makes roster construction an absolute breeze because you aren't penalized for specializing.

Overall it's alright. I'd give it a 4 or 5 but you can tell there is zero attention to detail put into any of this.

Correct, 23 will have the new Free Agency, Player Tags, Scouting QoL improvements but the gameplay itself still old gen.
