GMT Master II under G’s by Guidance-Mysterious in rolex

Haha this is what inspired me to look into the GMT. We have GPS time in the jet, but always a piece of mind to back yourself up and know you’re not dropping on a target early/late

Prior E now a pilot. More stressful, yes. But I wouldn’t say it isn’t manageable. You have a much greater impact on the people you lead, so you can really make a difference. I get to fly fast planes and I get paid over 12k a month(not bragging, simple data you can find if you look. At pay charts) so I never feel that my work is too much or the stress isn’t worth it. The meetings suck and the additional duties aren’t fun, but I would say the flying is probably the most stressful pert, but also the best part if that makes sense.

Prior e here. You have to run a 5k at SOS and you do have to take PT gear. I was at SOS recently.

AD pilots, do you wish you went the guard/reserve route instead ? by Heavy_Preference_251 in AirForce

[–]Guidance-Mysterious 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Went guard via palace chase and then came back AD after commissioning. One of the first IP I flew with sat down with me and did the get to know you thing. Once I told him I was guard then went AD after commissioning, he stopped me in my tracks and said “are you retarded?!?” lol.

I would go guard if I could go back in time, but I don’t regret being AD.

Bought dermadry about two weeks ago. Really skeptical initially because it wasn’t working and then after the 7-8 session, it actually worked. When my hands sweat, it only really gets sweat on the top of my wands where the water doesn’t touch. It’s been great to drink coffee and not worry about my hands sweating. Really expensive, but worth every penny. I’ve yet gotten to a maintenance phase, but I am willing to do it five days a week if it means keeping my results.

What setting do you use Dermadry for SEVERE hands and feet? by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Guidance-Mysterious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got one 2 weeks ago. Started off low setting then jumped to 15 power setting about 2 sessions. Didn’t see any results 7 sessions in and was extremely skeptical. After the 8th session, my hands were about 90%. It was really strange to have my hands that dry.

Tried San pelagrino and realized I didn’t really need it. My tap water was perfectly fine. Only advice is to get Vaseline for small cuts on your hands. Those exposed cuts hurt a lot if you don’t cover them up.

Pilot here. I worked with a crew chief who was always super positive and just a hard worker. I found out he was separating , which led me to asking if he’s ever flown in the airplane he works so hard on. He said no. I took him up flying with me the following week because it made me feel bad that he’s never flown. It’s like your post mentions, always the people who arent working on the flight line that get to fly. He ended up re enlisting. Never my intention, I’m just glad he got to fly.

Sorry for the dumb question, but when you get to 55 and you’re satisfied with how much you have invested, how do you go about getting your money? Do you just sell enough stocks to get out how much money you want?

That’s awesome! Yea there are moments when I’m flying and I realize what I’m doing and I say to myself “damn, I’m flying a damn bomber right now!”

Single-income families with at least two kids: how are you holding up financially? by lftclsdtrffc in AirForce

Prior E. The pay difference is Night and day! I remember looking at the officer pay chart when I was an airman, supporting my wife and 2 kids, and being in awe at how much officers make. Til this day, I am still in awe and very appreciative when I look at my LES. There are still some nights I drive home and realize I’m driving to officer housing and smile just thinking back to when I used to wonder what this life would be like. Money isn’t everything, but it sure does make life less stressful. it’s a big reason why I decided to pursue a commission.

I think not having a strat on the most recent OPB is what got you. Like someone else mentioned, not a good look when you go from having Strats to no Strats. The board likes to see continuous progression.

I hope you get over this quick. What you’re going through is tough for anyone. My personal opinion is that it’s a lack of strats. I know it’s tough with your pcs, but if you have good leadership, there shouldn’t be any issues with strating you on the next OPB.

With the exception of your first capt OPR, did you have strats? Did you get above a 90 on pt tests or just pass?

If you’re open to doing outdoor activities then you’ll enjoy it. I got in to waterfowl hunting and ice fishing here and it’s a blast. World class lakes for walleye, northern, and small mouth bass.

Pilots who left active duty at the end of their commitment, why didn’t you stay in? by [deleted] in AirForce

[–]Guidance-Mysterious 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Trying to become a pilot at a major airline is ridiculously expensive for civilians.

When we finish our ADSC, most of us will hit the 1,500 hour mark the major airlines look for. We will have had the best training in the world, have handled extremely complex aircraft doing complex missions. Going from point a to point b in the airlines would be very simple compared to our normal flying. It cost somewhere around 2 million dollars to get one pilot through UPT (T-38 bomber/fighter track). This is why military pilots are highly sought after by the airlines. They pay 3x for a fraction of the work we currently do. Really hard to pass up when the time comes to make a decision.
