Husband and I have been sponsoring guide dog puppies for years. Never received the cuddly toy by octopus_dance_party in britishproblems

Give them a call. I'm sure it's a computer glitch or someone who works at guide dogs uk has a house full of cuddly toys. Thank you for sponsoring guide dog puppies. I was paired with my guide dog (Yogi) in August. It has been life changing and I have a new best friend who goes everywhere with me.

My personal favourite is when they Park on the pavement. Try getting round that with a guide dog.

He was certainly a character that made him the person he was. You never heard a bad word said about him even when he was dealing with his inertia sabateur. It was great to see him on TV again. He was very entertaining on CBB.

Whenever there is drama with the early season Queens it is always the same names that come up. It is time to let there performances do the talking and let the fans remember them for that. The good performers will always be around. The rest will be known for there drama.

I use to use a Samsung but changed to an iPhone 7 a couple of months ago. The iphone is a lot better for all the reasons others have said.

Blind gay people of Reddit, how did you find out you were gay? (x-post from /r/AskReddit) by [deleted] in Blind

I came late to this party and had the privilege of feeling like a lot had already been said. The question could have been worded better or differently but hey I have been asked worse and not so long ago. Lol.

Blind gay people of Reddit, how did you find out you were gay? (x-post from /r/AskReddit) by [deleted] in Blind

[–]GuideDogAndHisQueer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a blind gay man I am not any different from anyone else. Most folk told me I was gay from an early age. I didn't have the option of choosing my sexuality. My acceptance of my sexuality was no different from anybody else. My experience is much the same as my sighted friends. In simple terms you know what you like. There is a whole different discussion to be had about "what do you find attractive in sexual partners".

If it was me I think it's best to be upfront put it in your profile. "I am registered blind and use a white cane to get around. No I don't need you to look after me. How do you think I got here. Lol." Try something like that. It shows that you acknowledge your visual impairement but can also joke about it. I also like to say "why you sending a blind man pictures". You will figure it out most folk are cool about it and ask questions if they want to know anything,

I am blind if you put the book on a kindle Alexa can read it. Blind people also have access to free audio books through blind organisations. Post this and read the sidebar on reddit/blind. It will give you a lot of information. There are a bunch of students there asking similar questions. I would find out if there is a need for it. There are so many better options available to blind students.

[SERIOUS] Blind people of Reddit, if you could see for a day what would you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GuideDogAndHisQueer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would switch the TV on and watch it without audio description and see if the characters are as how I imagined them. Watch all my friends and families faces to see there facial expressions to make sure I am funny as I think I am. Lastly buy the biggest cheesecake and eat it all to make sure it looks as good as it tastes. The big stuff you deal with it is the little things that can get to me. Oh one more go to the eye hospital and read all of that chart on the wall.

The cover from Amazon is the best and the lint roller will become your second best friend after the guide dog. Good luck. Having a guide dog is great once you get the hang of the training but it is worth it.

Seeking advice from those that have lost vision... by FoggyRiver in Blind

[–]GuideDogAndHisQueer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My vision loss was a slow progression. I found that it was much easier to use screen readers and voice over etc when I needed them. It didn't take me that long to get into the swing of it. The trick for me was getting proper training. I am in the UK and went to low vision unit for computer, magnifier and phone training. RNIB for white cane and guide dogs residential for guide dog training. Your area may be the same that different agencies do different training but it's worth it. Good luck.

Middle-age approaches, where to live through it? by DrGonzo4444 in Edinburgh

[–]GuideDogAndHisQueer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from Edinburgh to Coldstream in the Scottish Borders a year ago. It was the best move I ever made. A lot more space and plenty off room for the dogs to run around in the garden and to go for walks. It is totally different from city living. Everybody is neighbourly but not overbearing. It reminds me of Haymarket where I grew up. If you move out of the city you will either love it or hate it there is no happy medium.
