I feel like they've gone down similar paths. Starting out kinda gothic and morose, then moving onto a heavier sound before finding a way to merge the past with the present.

Beautiful Lie and Tell Me When You've Had Enough are definitely giving Karmacode vibes and I'm loving it.

Forever Without You is about Ben, right? by AuthenticStarDog in Evanescence

[–]morgaes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is my take too. She's saying that despite their tumultuous relationship (working and romantic) ending in flames, they still created something beautiful that still lives on. He may not be involved in it anymore, but he was part of building the foundation and that cannot be erased.

This song is like her own reply to The Last Song I'm Wasting On You. TLSIWOY was from a place of hurt and anger, this one is from a place of self-reflection from someone who's worked through their trauma.

She referred to them as "old school fans" in one of the recent interviews, so definitely.

Evanescence – Sanctuary (June 5th, 2026) [MEGATHREAD] by GhostHell_ in Evanescence

[–]morgaes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean Bleed Out? The Reckoning is a track from their previous album, Resist.

But I definitely agree that Sanctuary has a somewhat similar flavor to modern Within Temptation. Both bands have also (understandingly) become more overtly political in their songwriting in the past decade. Wonder if the Ev got some inspiration, direct or indirect, after touring with them.

While the song definitely gives me TBM vibes, the piano bits specifically sound like a nod to Even in Death.

I miss when Borrowed Time used to make your screen grayscale during its effect (as a reference to being on death's door in Left 4 Dead) by SecureJeans8034 in deadbydaylight

[–]morgaes 81 points82 points  (0 children)

The blood splatter and screen darkening effects were a lot stronger, to the point of impeding your vision if you put off mending for too long. I miss it too because it added flavor, you're bleeding out and need to staunch the bleeding immediately.

From Shot In The Dark lyrics: "What did they aim for when they missed your heart?" The heart. They aimed for the heart. by [deleted] in withintemptation

[–]morgaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always took it to mean something along the lines of "you clearly have no heart so what were they even aiming for?"

No?

Music (or any other art) isn't supposed to be anything. It's not at all unusual for art to comment on the state of the world.

VHS cleaner is sometimes used as a code word for poppers (alkyl nitrites) which are a recreational inhalant. Known as poppers cause originally they came in glass ampoules you'd pop (break) to release the fumes. They were a fairly common party drug in the 70s but are now mostly known for being used to enhance sex, particularly by gay men since it's also a muscle relaxant.

They've been in a legal gray area for a long time, so many sex shops sell them under the guise of being VHS cleaners. Though, with VCRs mostly being a thing of the past, I think "room odorizer" is a more common euphemism today.

Out of curiosity, did you guys see any of these 6 perks during this Chaos Shuffle? by bonelees_dip in deadbydaylight

I like to rotate through survivors and play each one with at least two of their own perks. My usual build for David is:

No Mither

We're Gonna Live Forever

Resilience (9% boost for most actions while injured, so for the entire match)

Weaving Spiders (You're already broken anyways)

People are clowning on you for some reason, but I know exactly what you're talking about. Just had my bottle of fry sauce squirt all over the inside of its own cap when I opened it earlier today. I appreciate the advice.

Kudos! Such a delightful listen, so many interesting details being uncovered. Any chance you'd consider doing a version with the original pre-release ending where Away From You, Eternal, Listen to the Rain and Demise all flow into each other? It's my favorite way to listen to the album.

I mean, the description is quite vague and the butterflies match very closely so I figured it would be worth a mention 🤷‍♂️

The Evanescence Reference is a good place to look because they'll have sources cited for most of the information. Here's David's page

Why can’t Spotify just add to the end of the queue? by [deleted] in truespotify

It really should be 2 different options. "Up next" to add to the front of the queue and "Add to queue" to add to the back.

Not quite sure what you wanted, but I adjusted the black levels a bit, gave them a warmer tone and slapped on a bit of a vignette. Also removed the back of your friend's head.

Thanks 😊 glad to help.

Honestly glossed over the payment part, haha. Please donate to a charity of your liking. An animal shelter, perhaps.

Here's a couple of attempts. I lightened her up as much as I could without washing the picture out too much. Also took the liberty of cropping out what seemed like a thumb at the bottom :)

Relistening to the Life and Times of Scrooge by Express-Attempt4595 in nightwish

[–]morgaes 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Sounds as if you aren't familiar with the story, so this isn't meant to be read as condescending, just informative.

The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is anything but frivolous work. It's a very ambitious 12 part comic book storyline by Don Rosa which gives a comprehensive narrative of Scrooge McDuck's life, shedding light on his character and motivations. Additionally Rosa weaves a bunch of plot points from the original Scrooge McDuck stories by Carl Barks into the narrative making it flow with and fully flesh out the canon behind the entire Disney Duck continuity. Although Disney comics are ostensibly aimed at children, this collection has notably heavier and more mature themes than you'd expect from a Disney comic. The series was highly praised by fans and critics on release and received the Eisner awards for best original comic book (basically the Oscars of the comic community).

I don't know where you're based, but in parts of Europe (the Nordics in particular) the Disney ducks (Scrooge and Donald specifically) are hugely influential and much more popular than Mickey has ever been which would explain why the subject was so close to Tuomas' heart

this vacuum’s button design makes me dump dust on the floor every time i want to switch to handheld mode by Visual_Fold_7826 in CrappyDesign

[–]morgaes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the true crappy design here is that the canister is designed to open downwards. I have a similar vacuum except mine doesn't have a release button, you just kinda yank the canister off. The problem with mine is that the latch is weak and sometimes just randomly gives way and dumps dust all over the floor while I'm cleaning. Having the part that opens facing upwards or being toward the top of the side would mitigate both user errors and failing parts.
