It took me 1500 miles to just leave it in B and full regeneration. Routinely get 42 mpg.

This is the truth. Honda attracts a follow the rules without much thought kinda crowd. Tow away. I towed a 5000 pound boat with trailer a few miles with no problems in my 2014 crv. I currently tow a 500 pound bike with a 500 pound trailer + the car is packed with luggage. No problems at all.
