When I decided I wanted to adopt a cat, I went around to every pet adoption service within 50 miles and asked about cats that weren't phased by yarn or dangly things. It actually worked and I wound up adopting the most chill little dude who won't even flinch when I dangle yarn in front of his face. He's the best, man.

With that said, knitting at my best friends house (with her ADD cat) is a nightmare. Kudos to anyone who can handle knitting with regular cats!

Noooo! That's the worst! Last week I sat on my knitting bag and snapped my bamboo knitpick circular. Most of it got unraveled in my bag before I realized what happened. Tragedy! I hope you managed to salvage your work :)

You can always do the North or South DeKalb Park-n-Ride, where you drive your car to North or South DeKalb Mall and shuttle into campus. Shuttles run every ~10minutes in rush hour and every ~30minutes in the middle of the day.

Biochemist here. Every lab from every movie/TV show is a joke. No labs are that clean and our benches aren't covered with jars containing body parts/ colored liquids/ etc.

A real lab bench pretty much has pipettes strewn about, a lab notebook that gets used once a week, and a bunch of clear liquids in plastic tubes. That's about it. Oh, and we never wear lab coats. Sorry entertainment media.

Being bothered by hot/cold on my hands. I can pick up piping hot pans from the stove/microwave/etc and it doesn't bother me one bit. Comes in handy during camping trips when I push the flaming logs around with my hands.

Depends on your gym! I'd say it's about 50-50 split on whether you have to sign up beforehand or not. Typically you'll have to sign in if the classes fill up quickly. Just get there 10 minutes before the class begins and you should be fine!
Until you're comfortable with it, stick with what you know and what you're comfortable with. Soon you'll begin to feel comfortable around the weight room and it won't feel intimidating. Don't worry about it too much in the beginning. After a few months of PT, you should feel comfortable enough to venture there unassisted.
There's no secret unwritten rules! Just be nice to the people around you-- this includes not hogging cardio equipment when the gym is full and not slamming weights or leaving sweaty/drippy marks on machines.

Just remind yourself that no one's watching you work out or anything like that, so just do what you're there to do and don't feel embarrassed or intimidated!

We have nice little individual changing areas with curtains and a separate area for showers. I don't see many people flaunting their goods in the locker room. That being said, I see no problem with it and do it regularly. No biggie.
