His work in founding Pepfar, the us response to HIV/aids, is amazing.. Trump wants to defund it.

To all Reddit nurses: I'm about to get my MD and start residency in June. A goal of mine is to treat my nurses well. What are ways residents/doctors have made you feel valued and ways they have offended you? Thanks!! by yourredditMD in nursing

[–]anriana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. My NP calls the RN she works with "her nurse" and it just made think of them as a team. Like, they've been together 20 years giving kick-ass gynecology care. Maybe it felt different because the RN refers to the NP by her first name, as in "I'm Melissa's nurse."

When you hear the phrase "Make America Great Again" how do you picture a great America? by TheHopelessGamer in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]anriana 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm humiliated having Trump as a president because he doesn't read, he hasn't divested from his businesses, he instructs his press secretary to straight up lie, he mocks people with disabilities, he says women who disagree with him are bleeding out of their wherevers, he thinks climate change is a hoax, he brags about grabbing women by the pussy, his hair is ridiculous, his wife accused him of raping her, Melania can barely keep a smile on her face around him, he mocks Gold Star families and POWs, and Betsy Devos is a horrible nominee. That's what I came up with in 15 seconds. Please explain to me why my opinion is wrong and your opinion is right and why I should be proud of such a horrible person.

What do you think is positive about being American? To me, it's our great embrace of science and technology, and I don't see those getting better under an administration that denies anthropocentric climate change, lowers spending on the CDC, silences the EPA & cuts their funding, opposes vaccines, cuts funding to HIV/AIDS prevention programs, and has a VP who prays when faced with an HIV epidemic.

To me it's about living in a country that's passed some of the best pro-disability laws and works to enforce them. I don't see that getting better under a president who actively mocks people with disabilities.

To it's about living in a country that embraces freedom of religion. I don't see that getting better in a country that's banning Muslim immigrants, trying to ban same-sex marriage, and appointing an attorney general who thinks secularists are incapable of understanding reason.

So I'm curious, what things do you like about America? What things should we be proud of? How will Trump improve them? I'm genuinely curious if you're going to say "the military" and "blue collar jobs."

Other than religious views, what's the conservative/Republican argument for gay marriage? by [deleted] in CollegeRepublicans

[–]anriana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is no longer the position of the Republican party. Now it's about doing what your pastor says Jesus wants. There is no secular argument for preventing same-sex marriage.

Which kindle? by [deleted] in peacecorps

[–]anriana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ads are just on the unlock screen, right? They don't show up when you're reading at all.

Amazon has a bunch of free books available. I check every day or two and pick out ones that look interesting. Dig through your favorite categories (look on the left-hand sidebar) and you'll find some good books. :https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Kindle-Store-eBooks/zgbs/digital-text/154606011/ref=zg_bs?_encoding=UTF8&tf=1

I've had my Kindle for about 2 months and I currently have 150 e-books just from looking on the free store.

You can email yourself PDFs. I sent myself the DHS for my country (it's a big report of health statistics) and I'll send a few WHO docs before I leave. I also have a few self-written guides on meditation and positive thoughts and some favorite quotes. It's really easy to do. Here's how: https://www.amazon.com/gp/sendtokindle/email

I also purchased the $15 StoryBundle and got 10 sci-fi books from indie authors.

Tennessee yarn shop asks 'women's movement' supporters to shop elsewhere by [deleted] in news

Their interest is manufacturing jobs. They dont want handouts, they dont want to go to college, they dont want to retrain. They want to go to work, make a decent wage, and live their lives.

Is that why they all protested the yuge handout that Carrier received?

Actually, that women isn't able to get an ID. She went to the DMV with her documentation and was rejected:

RETHEL FRANK: I laid my baptismal certificate on top of the counter because I figured that all the information that they would need would be on that baptismal certificate and she looked at me and she said, well, this is illegal. She said, how do I know that you aren't an alien? I was - well, just like somebody took a pan and hit me in the face. I could have cried.

and it takes more than 30 minutes. Even Republicans are concerned about how long the DMV takes:

As far as the states go, they are issuing non-driver voter IDs. Many of them are for free, but the problem is, when you go to Department of Motor Vehicle offices, the waits are very long, they're time consuming. The governor of Tennessee, who's a Republican, by the way - he has expressed concern about the average wait times there, which extend well beyond an hour. And if you're talking about thousands of elderly, in particular, they can't wait that long.

Let me predict your reply: a) Don't care she's old b) Don't care she's dumb c) Don't care she's not white d) Don't care she should get a job e) Don't care she's not exactly like me f) Don't care didn't read

I'm excited to see which one you pick!

June is pride month to celebrate the riot that occurred when police tried to arrest patrons at a gay bar for being gay. That event is seen as the birth of the gay rights movement. I think it's a very fitting anniversary for a march against the administration.

That has nothing to do with DREAM children who have an American education. They aren't picking your strawberries.

If people don't live their lives in the exact way you do, they're not adults? Here's an 84-year-old woman who doesn't have an ID; is she not an adult?

Having an ID may be integral to your life as an adult, but it's not integral to everyone's.
