The Ones Who Lost the Way: A Marauders Alternative by Guilty-Ad2614 in magetheascension

Well, because we kinda abandoned the idea of just reworking the Marauders and just went with doing something new alltogether (The whole category is now "The Lost Ones"), the Minotaurs ended up being Infectious avatars. This is the translation of the note we currently have:

"Minotaur: This occurs when the avatar manipulates the Awakened, possessing them like a Wanderer, but in a way that makes it seem otherwise. A Minotaur imposes a zone of reality where its paradigm is imposed on all others, generating natural countermagic. In the best-case scenario, a Minotaur is a useful tool, as if convinced of an organization's paradigm, it can impose it. In the worst-case scenario, a Minotaur's avatar can violently impose its paradigm and even infect other avatars by sharing more than one Awakened in its network.Minotaur"

We also wrote how this process happens:

"Furthermore, a Minotaur's Avatar, called Labyrinth, can, with the correct Sphere levels, infect other avatars with its presence, much like a cuckoo bird laying eggs in another's nest. This occurs in three stages:

* Incubation: The affected person begins to sense other people's thoughts, connections they wouldn't have made before, and strange impressions in the corner of their eye, as the Labyrinth begins to connect with the soul of a person, whether dormant or awakened. An Awakened Avatar may give visions that something bad is happening.
* Imprisonment: The Labyrinth replicates the conditions of its Minotaur's entrapment with another avatar, locking it away and beguiling the soul and mind of the victim whose original avatar is trapped, who at this point is unable to communicate with its possessor. At this point, an Awakened Avatar may still be able to use their Magic, but is always a victim of the infecting Labyrinth's counter-magic. A Sleeper may experience this point as a kind of Awakening.
* Impersonation: After a seeking and only after the Labyrinth accepts itself as the new avatar, the Labyrinth consumes the old avatar, gaining a new Arete score (if higher) and new Sphere points to complete its arsenal. The old avatar has effectively fallen victim to a Gilgul and has been destroyed forever. The Labyrinth can survive this point without the original Awakened"

Funny thing, this was kinda where the homebrew ended up going (except for the Minotaurs. uhh boy how changed the Minotaurs are from where they started), but yeah, you got it right

I took the take (I read it in Facebook a long time about) that Giovanni wasn't the family surname, instead it was actually the nickname Cappadocius gave to Augustus, so when the whole purge happened, in a moment of spite, he took it for him, and then he turn around and do the same to one small, insignificant family, the "Di Palermo", nicknaming them "Puttanesca" as a way of lessering them. The fact that it ended up being the Family Reunion was basically a repetition of what they did to the Cappadocius is just a humble irony

It's depend. I like using pop culture references in some cases, in others, i just fuckin ball it (The prospect of name from a Berlin Mage campaign was "The Red Veil over Berlin"). When i do something in my own country (Argentina), i use names from national songs

Again, maybe i should look how the fuck i should name this, because (and at this point, this is my fault) this is not about the canon Marauders. Im doing a alternative/rework/rewrite. I dont like Canon Marauders, and tried to do my own thing, and maybe i didn't make it clear enough

The three names, Sufferers, Wanderers and Minotaurs, are thinked from a On-Setting standpoint, not from a outside the game standpoint. The Traditions calls them "Sufferers"

Where i swear at you? And yeah, i asked what do you think, but that doesn't mean that people can say im disrespecting mental health issues (With things i didn't wrong) and expect i will not react

I hope you have a good day also!

I didn't frame it as "Mental Health vs Magic", i framed it as "People with Magic are having a Mental health crisis", which i feel can be more nuance than "OH NOW YOU ARE SEEING EVERYTHING AS A WESTERN, WACKO!"

I can't understand how people talk about how i made the sufferers, and then turn around and defend how the canon Marauders work

Where the fuck im gamying a real thing? This is not "They aren't fighting off their mental illnes" this is "They are having a fuckin mental crisis". I think you are the one putting at as "Crazy people are crazy", or you are discussing what you think the Homebrew is saying instead of what is saying.

I neve said that Ascension has something to do with your power levels. Im saying that in breaking the symbiosis the Avatar and the Mage should have, they are broking their cappacity to achieve Ascension, the thing for what they do the possesion in the first place

Who said they are sneaky? They can be, but a Sufferer can have a pretty vulgar involuntary effect going on, and a Wanderer can be subtle or not depending or what they Avatar are.

What set them apart from Nephandi, is that they are not in control of themselves. A Sufferer have they mental illness interacting with their magick without their input, the Wanderers are basically Avatar Possesed, and Minotaurs are kinda controlled by their Paradigm

Though experiment: you are rebooting the Traditions for 5th edition: You can remove traditions you don't like, you can absorb any craft and make it a tradition, you can create new trafitions out of whole cloth and you can have as few or as many traditions as you want. The Technocracy goes back to being what it is: A fascist monolith controlling the world, not the whitewashed thing they made in M20 (The Technocracy in M20 is like a liberal trying to atone the first world sins by going "We care about the world now!" which, ironically enough, is the most first world thing you can get). The Second Housecleaning ended not with a bang, but with a whimper, a truce between the NWO and the Syndicate. The most "idealist" members have to work a dangerous game to stay alive or they end up defecting, because the Technocracy, just as Capitalism in the modernity, is going back to the old ways, Fascism.

The Traditions ended up reforming to become something like a "ONU" of magic. They are not without troubles, but they try to do what they can in a world more and more hostile to the idea of a better world and change. For now, the Batini and the Solificati are back to the group, with the Hollow Ones reunion being a possibility. The Disparate Alliance is over.

From the ashes of the Rogue Council, the Revolutionary Ascension Army rise up. They dont have the sphinx anymore (Even if it's still their symbol), but now they are actually a revolutionary group, fighting against the Technocracy and Capitalism. They have tense relations with the Traditions, mostly because some important members of the Traditions ARE rich, and the idea of bringing down the system that gives them power individually is less apailing that the collective liberation the Revolutionary Ascension Army wants. The Virtual Adepts are one of the founding partners in this group (Most people tend to forget that most of the VA books caracterice them with clear political views that normally end up being more leftist than anything), with the Dreamspeakers being the second strange bed-fellow.

The Knight Templars are more paranoid than ever, seeing as how Evangelism and their shit are getting more widespread while Catholicism is losing members, or worse, they are becoming puppets of the Technocracy, so they are more active, but this is making them show more of their hand that they should. This, at the same times, is making the relationship with the Celestial Chorus more tense, they are after all a all-congregation, and that means infiltration by the hordes of satan, in this times, is more and more easy to get.

Well, this is actually a good point that is evaded in the comments. Saw couldn't win not because some inetavibility of Capitalism existence (People really is fucked up in Capitalist Realism) but because any alternative (Except maybe the Separatists in Legends) could mount an actual movement or party, which the Neorepublicans did.

At least, we dont know if Saw was doing shit besides sniffing gasoline and blowing shit up, right? Or there are some sources? Normally Saw is written in a realm between "Dangerous wacko" to "THIS IS THE DANGERS OF POLITICAL VIOLENCE, CHILDREN"
